If you are getting a blue light when the top cap is completely unscrewed from the body with the red wire still attached BUT getting a red/blue light when the cap is screwed back on, there's a short in the cap somewhere.

One way to check is to completely remove the top cap and check ohms from the top screw to the outside of the cap. Should read o.l. on the meter (open). If you're reading 0 or 1 ohms it's shorted somewhere.

Did you remove the clear tube shaped spacer and clean/check? It keeps the pin from touching the sides of the cap inside. I've had a short from liquid in there before.

Thanks Mark. I'm not supposed to be able to even see that part of the forums but your link took me there ;) Looking at his pic, that little burnt spot might be where the pin goes into the delrin part of the bottom cap. Wonder if that had anything to do with it?

Which also gives me some ideas about another case we have that has us stumped...a gent who says when he tries to put his batts in his BP, it sparks at him. No nicks in the battery casings, batts work fine in his other BP. Any ideas on both problems would be appreciated.

Good question. Pv is low voltage, not really high amps. A shock occurs when your body is the path to ground.

In today's case, I wondered if the metal table might be electrically hot, otherwise op had already posited wondering if he had built up a static charge, not really the pv doing anything bad, just that it provides the electrical path to take to ground when putting the pv on the table.

that just looks like corrosion from what I can tell , a dead short will cause sparks or arcing BUT there is nothing isolated on the IPRO so not sure how it could ??? it is metal so if it was held between to unlike voltages it can in theory.

Hi Jim, glad you found your way over here. It seems silly, but suppliers are not allowed to post on the thread you first posted on, so we can't answer questions there :(

Inspect the batteries that you had in your IPro very carefully, look for snags or tears in the covering. That's a very odd shock you had and I've never heard of anything like that happening before. How old is your IPro?

I think you'll just have to hook the end of the spring under the hex nut and tighten down the phillips head screw, MonsterKitty. Don't forget to line up that little pin with the hole in the delrin threaded part. Probably easier to hold that nut with some needle-nose pliers, if ya have some. 'Course, you'll want to try and center everything first, then snug the heck out the bolt and screw.

You can pick up a cheapo needle nose at a hardware store, don't have to get expensive ones. Heck, take the cap parts with you and see if they have any ideas what you can use as a pin. Or hit me up thru the "contact us" off the sales site with your address and I'll have Terri drop a pin in the mail to you. Or a PM :)

I really hate those delrin bottom caps, all my Buzzes have the all brass ones.

Good day everyone,

Have been out of town so a hearty late congratulations to Bovinia. A great addition to the team!

Now, it would seem that I've been given a 2cents Safe fuse in my absence. I know my Bpro does not need it but thought, what the heck, I have it. When using the fuse, the bottom cap spring seems very tight. It will completely screw on but there is a higher level of tension then I am comfortable with. Will using the 2cents Fuse damage the Bpro do to that tension? I searched around ECF but never found anything relevant.
