Some had mentioned in the meetup location thread that it would be a good idea to map out the group members and try to find a central location. I think this is a great idea.

I've started a Google map for our group Here.

To add your location, find where you live on the map. (I suggest just searching for your zip code and using the general area, rather than exact address.) Then click the icon on the top left that looks like an upside down water drop and one will pop up on the map. Drag the icon to wherever on the map you'd like to put it. A box will pop up where you can put your username, and anything else you want to add. Again, use a rough location rather than your actual address unless you really want to.

If we can get a good idea of where everybody lives, and combine this with the poll data...we could be that much closer to arranging a gathering. It would also be fun to look at the map and see which users are closest to you!

Nifty idea. Unfortunately, firefox choked on it (though it might just be my laptop-- my Minion's getting old.) Will try again later on Chrome.

Menolly-- you wouldn't happen to be a Pern fan, would you? Or I suppose it could be your mother; I guess we're *all* getting older. <sigh>

Shouldn't be a firefox issue unless there's an update you're missing or something, as I used it when creating and editing the map.

Menolly isn't my real name, I've just been using it online since high school. I'd consider it for a daughter if I ever have one, so long as I'm not still using it. :p I haven't read the whole Pern series (A daunting task at this point)- just about the first five books or so and the Harper Hall trilogy, but I really liked Menolly.

Yeah, my teardrop does not show up either. Maybe you have to have an account. I saw it on the tutorial, but not on the map.

Looks like you may be right that you have to be signed into a Google account to add a location. I just tried logging out and it didn't give me the option either.

So if there's anybody that doesn't have a Google account and doesn't want to sign up for one, let me know a zip code or something and I can add you.

HI butterbean.. Give me your zip code and I'll add ya :)

I was able to add Keg and bwood12043. You guys might want to double check and make sure I got it right.

If anyone else needs me to add theirs just post your zip here or pm me... I'll get it done for you.
