hope someone could help me out with this, its kinda frustrating. im modding this to be like a tekk mod (only thing i could find locally) but the problem is it crashes. i did check my connection and everyting seems ok. i tapped into the usb port and hooked up a switch, connector and an atty and the thing only turns on for about a sec or 2. after that it shuts down and i have to plug it to restart it. do i have to put something somewhere or anything to have this sorted out? hope someone could help because it would have been an awesome mod..if it ever works. thanks guys.

ill upload the pics later after i open her up again. i actually went ahead and soldered it straight to the battery just to get my frustration away haha, surprisingly it gives out a lot more of everything than my ego on a LR. but i do want to learn and make it the right way so ill hack her open again and hopefully we could work on it. thanks man! its just that the freakin thing looks sweet as a mod! well with a better switch i suppose haha!

If you've wired straight to the battery then the electronics aren't doing anything, so you can draw whatever the batts provide. If you turn on the original circuit, do the lights indicate battery level? If they do, then I'd expect that it is much like a notebook's battery pack in design and the protection circuitry is in the device and it uses unprotected cells, so you would have bypassed the protection too. So regularly checking the batts so they aren't run down too low would be a good idea too. Could you post some inside pics maybe?

Im playing with it right now, i plugged it in the battery just to mess around but i really want to get this right. Sorry the pics are taking awhile i lost my digicam mem card but ill post it later. Im dying to get this to work. The battery level meter works perfectly actually. Poking with the multi meter gives me battery negative to usb positive 5.4v while the other way gives me the normal 4-+ the battery gives. I dont know if thats any use as an info haha, hey thanks for the patience i reLly do appreciate it. Though heres a blurry pic i took from my phone, cant see the values oor anything though sadly. Ok sorry it wouldnt attach from my phone, i made a connector and atty with wires just to check it, when i tap to the mentioned 5v bat to usb it dims the led a bit and it works for about 3secs rather than 1 before it shuts.

For sure watch the batteries if your hooked straight into them you more then likely bypassed the battery protection. When you get some pics of the insides there might be a better way to just bypass the 1 amp limit without bypassing battery protection. Really it depends on how it is designed , so might not be anything that can be done, Just got to check it out to see.

The original Tekk mod v2 goes straight to the batts too, but uses a regulator to get the 5v, all of which runs parallel to the original circuitry so I would assume that the protection still works in the original circuit and thanks to the regulator's min v-in.

Hac, your pic is good, but does this have one or two cells? You said 'the battery' so just one? If that is the case the provided boost circuit is likely just to weak to handle more than the rated output. Nuck's fistpack adds a TI p4050 booster that can keep up.

As for the original circuitry for the intended use of charging devices, you don't want the output higher than the mAh capacity of the device so it doesn't make sense for the them (Shenhzen :)) to put something more powerful in there.

Also, around R13 and R18 you have some solder splatter that should be picked off so it wont harm anything, and did you short those resistors or did they come like that?

hi and thanks again, i got it to work, i went with the usb positive and negative batt and it works really good at steady 5.1 voltage using regular attys, as for using a lr atty just for the heck of it, it shuts down instantly..sad part? i was hooking up a led to it and accidentally pressed down harder than i should and shorted it and the r500 got crispy, it still works after i resetted it but it wont fire up the atty anymore. i didnt short it out it was just reallylike that and ive since cleaned up all the other solder. was using this as a test unit haha! ill be getting 3 more tom to work with i hope i could figure this out. is there anything that i could add or change or something to have it handle the power drain safely? thanks for the patience. oh and it came with 1 cell.
