Agree that box mods are ugly... you learn to like them later.

As far as a VV tube mod.. it all depends on whether or not you want to buy now, own forever, or buy now, then replace later.

Provari is an investment that will take you through the long haul - the others will break, and you'll be looking for another solution down the line. Not necessarily a bad thing, as by then, maybe you'll be ready for a mechanical and rebuilding.

Are you concerned about longevity, or only about the next 6 - 12 months?

I'd like to spend under $100, but could be convinced to spend more. The eVic has my interest at the moment.
with that budget in mind, don't forget batteries and a charger. unless you have those already.
i was on a tight budget for a new mod and i had to put some effort into finding a sweet deal.

Realistically, the mod could last centuries and I'd still be looking for something else within a year. The only reason the eGos lasted so long was because I had a temporary income deficiency. Should that happen in the future and my mod breaks, I'll still have the eGos as back-ups.

I personally have the iTaste SVD and have a Squape on the way. The SVD has 3 buttons and is telescoping so it can handle multiple battery sizes. You can get the standard set plus batteries and a good charger from FastTech for about $60. Plus I think they look pretty good too.

Note this is NOT a clone.

I'd like to spend under $100, but could be convinced to spend more. The eVic has my interest at the moment.

Far as budget goes, I had an eGo die on me while I was dithering about the cost of an APV like an eVic or the VTR I settled on. I had a, "wait a minnit" moment. I've killed three Joytech 1100s within a year. And the batteries inside aren't replaceable. While even high end, high capacity batteries for my VTR will cost a significant amount less to replace.

Don't get me wrong, eGos are great. My Joys served me well even though the further I went in vaping, the harder I pushed them (like they were VV and I came to prefer a warm vape so the little volt dial pretty much lived at the 4.8 setting). But when I made myself sit down and compare the cost of replacing eGos verses 18650 batteries in an advanced device, the long haul was cheaper.

So I upped what I was willing to spend upfront and bought sooner than I'd planned (I reach one year smoke free in April so I was thinking of a "fancy" device as a reward :) ). But it turned out more practical than I was thinking. Like a 3400 mAh Panasonic at MVS is $17.29 and that's like half the best price I could get on a good VV eGo but three times the capacity of my 1100s. Big difference there. Like buying three of my eGos for half the price of one.

So I looked at it more as, I dunno, "investment".

I just can't!! It's so ugly!

Miira,

Get a wrap for it!

The MVP is a great mod, I highly recommend it. Durable? One of them took a horrible fall (along with myself) and took a serious beating, hard enough to put a real dent in the corner. Didn't stop me from vaping it (until the EMT's made me put it down). It's still working like a champ.

It really doesn't in my opinion. There just aren't that any options on any given PV anyway.

You say that because you have one and are used to it/know what settings you like. I'll be fiddling with for awhile, because it's all new to me. Eventually, I'll get to that point, but the less frustration at the beginning, the better.

The new 20 watt Sigelei Legend uses a combination of button presses and tilting, is heavy stainless steel but only VW and a bit over $100. Comparable to a DNA 20 device.

I have a v3 VAMO and it's great but I can tell the fire button will eventually be an issue. The VAMO is one of the few APV's with a 5 amp limit which makes it extremely powerful when using stacked 18350s....up to 30 watts when using it in variable voltage on a 1.2 ohm coil.

Right now I think the Sigelei 20 is the tube mod to beat, check out twisted420s review on YouTube.

Would I purchase another VAMO, without a doubt.

As for the Provari, having only 1 button makes navigating menus a pain in the rear.
It really doesn't in my opinion.
Try a mod that uses an Evolv DNA, which shows your battery's state-of-charge, as well as your resistance and power setting at all times, and has a rocker switch to change power settings. Sorry, but it makes the Provari's single-button user interface look almost pathetically clunky and arcane.

The part in Bold should be read several times. Any number of PVs will work for you. Provari are expensive but supposed to be extremely well made. An innokin MVP would do wonders if you can get used to the box shape. While Vamos are popular, I wouldn't buy one because of the many issues I have seen on here with them(there are more than one manufacturer I believe). All of them are going to have great pros and cons whichever you buy you will have to learn to use, so the single button thing (to me) isn't REALLY a factor. One I would avoid unless I was absolutely sure about is the Innokin VTR as you are limited to which topper you use on them. That and they are extremely heavy.

Limited? Not at all. The iClear 30S they come with is an impressive clearo in my opinion. But you also get an adapter that gives you a plain old 510/eGo connection. I just got my VTR and have used my EVODs on it. But I'm liking the iClear so much, I'll probably gradually retire the other clearos as "back ups". The Protank 2 fits and I'm thinking of trying one soon. Compare with the iClear before buying too much of anything. Also, the 30S doesn't seem to have a glass option. And I have one juice I really like that'll eat a polycarbonate.

It is on the heavy side though I counted that as a plus. I need durable. The budget is tight. The VTR is solid. Bit hefty but would be hard to break. Very little plastic.

But the OP doesn't care for "boxes" and prefers tubular so that strikes the VTR off the list definitely.

I'm not having even a tiny twitch of "buyer's remorse". I'm the opposite of the OP, I like "boxy" kit. Also, the VTR fits my hand like it was custom made. Suits me nicely. And with dual coils and a serious battery with real power, I'm like a real vaper now. :D
