CES and I love you too, Dragon. :)

by the way....CES.....trust me, when the Zombies come you'll learn how to shoot REAL fast....and you'll like it too. LOL

I do understand your point,Scott. In "real" life I'm not much of a people person and the challenges of holding together a survival group are daunting. But there truly is safety in numbers. The trick is having proper leadership and an agreed upon social structure. Justice and discipline within the group must be swift....and final. And I for one do not subscribe to "ousting" as a punishment. If it's bad enough to get ousted for then ..well...you die. Because people that get ousted are usually bat.... crazy and mean as hell.....those are the ones that will survive and come back. ;)

I'm just thinking logistics. Scrounging food for many people vs. for one or two. Finding space, sanitation (yup, there's that bidet), noise, transportation - everything - is just much harder to control and procure for a group than a single person. A group is only as fast as the slowest member. And, just to be perfectly selfish about it, if I got cornered and had no way out, a bullet to my own head would be acceptable if I was alone and no one was depending on me. If I was part of a group, that option wouldn't be available. That would suck.

All up in your grill..
You mean you would knock?
I am hoping to be too busy at the casino to have to do much field recruiting. Knocking wouldn't be out of the question as I would prefer willing subjects. But I am not making any promises.

How much vodka is in your kool-aid Mac?
As much as you like. Do not be alarmed if it has a slight chemical aftertaste. That just means it's from the top shelf. :)

Unwilling and/or drugged subjects tend to leave the gate open. Refer back to post 15 and tibia gnawing. You might want to rethink the whole kidnapping/drugging angle.

I can promise you that there will be no unauthorized zombies anywhere near my casino. I can also assure you that the chemical aftertaste will not be something to intoxicate you. Although I make no promises to that effect if you ask me to add vodka to the kool aid.

Informative statement: I was a mechanical engineer in the Navy so I know how to operate a wide array of pumps, turbines, water evaporators and purification, fuel systems, pneumatics, AC units...all kinds of things. If I have some tools and parts to work with, I can probably figure it out.

I was also a primary firefighter and trainer.

Certified in CPR and I know a lot about first aid and the use of some plants for eating as well as medical use.

I'm a damn good shot.

I know how to hunt, fish, trap, snare, skin and prepare game and fish as well as some amount of gardening experience.

I know how to devise several nasty primitive traps that are easily resettable, as well as certain tactical setups which are of great advantage for funneling zombies into 'kill corridors.'

I have leadership experience and I'm generally a pretty all around handy guy with lots of things. I've done all kinds of odd jobs around my house and other people's houses. Fixing washing machines, installing lights/fans, rewiring stuff, laying down laminate floors, all sorts of home repair/improvement projects.

Side Note: A Navy ship is actually a pretty good shelter in a lot of respects. You have several layers of potential defenses, and if all else fails you can still go over the side of the ship and swim your way to land elsewhere, while the zombies would be stuck going to the bottom of deeper waters. Layers of defense and barricading could be done on the pier itself, the gangplank being pulled up prevents them from getting on board the ship almost altogether. Zombies lack the coordination to climb ropes to get up the mooring lines. With adequate preparation, a ship makes for an excellent defensible shelter that still leaves you a way out if you do for some reason get overrun.

Yeah... HK you really should be on my extraction list... but I am not certain I want someone who is obviously so intelligent and useful in my group... I'm not certain I could abide the risk of mutinying... besides with you around survival might be too easy... and what fun is an apocalypse if survival is easy....

Also… as we know from most zombie movies… the group needs to be able to make stupid decisions at times so that the people no one likes can get killed off… but for the stupid decision to be an “honest mistake” it needs to be at least plausible that they didn’t think it through or that something unforeseeable happened.

Statement: Survival in a zombie apocalypse is never going to be easy, except in Mac's casino that is. With my skills it's very likely I'll be one of the primary members ranging out to get supplies and rig up methods of thinning down the zombie horde with traps and landmines and kill corridors. Chances are I would only need to come in every now and then to turn the heat on for you guys, cook your dinner, tend your wounds, build the shelter and reinforce it, ration out supplies, keep track of ammunition, establish order in the camp, mend clothes, tan the hides, manufacture tools...and maybe get a little bit of sleep and screwing here and there.

Of course, if you're fearful about something unforeseeable happening......I could just leave a gate open and go sign up for guard duty at Mac's casino afterwards. I'm sure he'll have plenty of booze and 'entertainment' to be had.
