Hi all,
So, I bought 3 evods. All are genuine, as far as I can tell. I have 2.4 ohm coils in them, and run them on several Spinners and Twists. I don't seem to get much vapor out of them, as opposed to my Vison V3 clearos. I have to yux the voltage up to above 4.2 volts in order to come CLOSE to the vapor that I get from the Vision, or CE5 clearomizers at 3.9 volts. (FYI, I vape 50/50 juice). They leak more, and I find that if I constantly clean my battery heads, then they're a little bit more reliable, but not significantly. I also make SURE that the head assembly it tight in the base, and have tried pulling the pin up in my batteries a little bit, but to no avail. I really like the design of the evods, and they seem like they're designed very well, but...

Also, I have some 32 gauge kanthal on order, and plan to make my own coils. Would lower ohm coils, like 1.8 perform better in the evods?

Thanks for your help!

Maybe you should try opening them up and giving them a really good clean.
Unscrew the coils and boil them in coffee water and let them dry all day long. Or you can dip them in ever clear and let them dry all day.
Make sure they are screwed on snug and give it a go.
I have about 10 evods i rotate daily as i like them cleaned often, and they vape really well. You will notice they are quite popular on ECF..

Good luckk.

IMO you need to drop the 2.4 ohm coils. Try out the 1.8 ohm's at 3.7V to 3.9. You should get a great vaping experience with significant vapor, taste and throat hit depending on your choice of e-juice. This set up works well with me vaping Johnson's Creek 100% VG and should be compatible for your 50/50 blend.

However, you may require adjustments to find your preference, but a little experimenting will get you there with the eVods.

I like them with 1.8 better - which is a shame right now, because you CAN'T GET 1.8 heads in the old, short-post type. Just the Protank coils. Anyway - what do you mean by "genuine, as far as I can tell"? Where'd you get them?

Because I had unsatisfactory performance from a FastTech EVOD - they are NOT Kanger. Many people say they're fine, but I had leaks and crunchy thread, and stick to definite Kanger sources now...

2.4 ohms, you can crank that all the way to 4.8 if it gives you the vape you are looking for. I usually vape around 8 watts, depending on the juice, so that would be around 4.5 volts. Don't be shy about cranking the voltage up when you are not getting the vape you want - that's why you bought the variable voltage batteries.
You might get better results with a 1.8 coil / head, but the difference will be minimal. 1.8 ohms vaped at 3.8 volts gives about 8 watts too. Only difference with a lower head is you can dial up the voltage higher and higher where with a 2.4 you will max out the highest voltage the battery will give for the same number of watts faster.

As for the leaking, again, make sure they are super clean. Pay attention to the threading on the coil head (where it screws into the base) and the threads and the silicone gasket on the threads. You could also try gently pushing up the coil head where it threads through the base - but only a bit to compress the gasket in there or you will stop it making contact with your battery.

One thing I've learnt about vaping is, if you ain't fiddling, you ain't trying. Just keep messing with it - when one stops working, tear it apart to see exactly how it works - then if something does go wrong, you'll usually know what to do to fix it.
