In my attempts with 1 ohm coils, I was able to keep it in tc mode for a little bit, but eventually it kicked out of tc mode on my evic vtc mini.
I saw the ohms measurement only change about 1 to 2%.
I think the biggest problem is that ohm variations due to contact resistance changes are bigger than the ohm changes of the coil itself. (plus my evic vtc mini only goes down to 100celcius and I'd have to set it to something like 21 or 25 celcius for it to work with kanthal theoretically).
Trouble is, kanthal was specifically designed to not change resistance.

Nichome on the other hand does not have that problem.
I don't have any nichrome to try though.

And then there's stainless steel to try.


oh yes, then there's the ijoy asolo and ijoy solo mini which offer regular variable temperature mode for nickel, plus a nodryburn mode for kanthal.

If you put nichrome n80 in steam engine it doesn't show a curve

What sort of TCR would you use? I may have a play with that
