Split a little in the thread area so it may still work. My cap was stuck and I squeezed it to hard. My fault but its pretty depressing to me lol.

You didn't get the Deluxe Coil Gizmo which has more rods (5 rods, 4.5mm, 4mm, 3mm, 1.5mm, and 1.0mm)

I do wish it had the missing sizes in between 3 and 1.5mm... for the majority of the micro coils I make I like 2 or 2.5mm

Get your mic out and head to the closet . . . I found a 2.4 mm hanger that made a nice mandrel.

They have a smaller set that comes with a 2 mm and a 3 mm, as well.

Hmmmmm not to sure about heading into the closet...

It would mean at some point you have to come out of the closet! LOL!

I will take my mic to mine later.

I'm not. I got 200' of wire coming next week. I just need to find some rods for this gizmo. I'll try to at least get a clothes hanger, I believe they are 2mm if I remember what I just read but would like a variety of sizes. I don't know if hardware store would have anything that I could shape in a crank like these. . of all things I don't have a metal hanger lol

Your local Ace hardware will have music wire in a bunch of different sizes you can use if you are good at wire bending. I rummaged thru the closet and found a coat hanger in my size, 5/64" and used that, much easier to work with.
Your chimney cap looks deformed and probably won't be any good.

Yeah its deformed alright , I'm actually enjoying the occ I never used them since I got the tank. Ill order a couple rba though for sure and just be extra carefuI. I will definitely check ace for music wire. What exactly is music wire anyhow? I'll google it. I just went to Menard's and smaller size rod they have is 1/8, so no go on that.

Sorry everyone for taking this off topic, but I was initially trying to make these t.m.c.

Try a Hobby Shop. RC plane and model railroaders use stuff like it all the time!

I'm gonna go mic my mandrels that came with my coil gizmo deluxe. I'll post in a few minutes.

OK HERE YOU ALL GO, THESE ARE THE SIZE OF THE MANDRELS IN THE COIL GIZMO DELUXE:

1.0 mm or .039" AKA: 3/64"
1.55 mm or .0615" AKA: 1/16"
3.2 mm or .126" AKA: 1/8"
4.0 mm or .157" AKA: 5/32"
4.75 mm or .187" AKA: 3/16"

So, as I see it, there is a clear need for a 2 and 2.5 mm mandrel.

I highly doubt I'd ever use the 1, 4 or 4.75mm sizes at all!

Forgot the pic

Damn skippy there row.

I always wind at least 50% more than what I need. Even when I've used jigs. When I consider a temp target, I prefer to shoot a little to the high side. If I end up losing a turn, no biggie. I'm still in a zone I can handle. I'd rather have the symmetry and a good vape. De-winding just ensures that the end turn tension is equal to the rest. But it also lets you fine tune the exit angle at that tension which often isn't clear until your pokin' around tryin' to fit it on your device.

Now if you tend to build the same type of equipment and are precise with a jig…never mind.

:D

Good luck.

My first few on the ACG are done. Actually pretty easy to get very repeatable results using this.

Cig / Mac / Super X feel free to critique away! I can only become a Jedi coil master by learning from the masters!

26AWG 10 wraps should come to 0.8 ohms (my target).

It's also called piano wire.

Yes, you should a got the 5 rod model. But piano wire is not too challenging to bend into that shape with 2 pair or pliers. Ive done several.

Doan give up homie. Sometimes You gotta swing the bat a few times before you get a hit.

Oh, and if you have to heat and squeeze coil it wasn't great anyhow. Better to pull it and build s good one :)

I'm not good at wire bending, and find it very difficult to work with the music wire with pliers, on the thicker dias. at least. I tried it on a 5/64" piece, forget it. :) But if you can do it, go for it, the wire is cheap.
