Oh, I may have forgotten to mention that I did take the ~10" long piece of 27 ga kanthal and hold the ends between two pairs of pliers and give it a good stretch. Then I cut it in half before I made those coils :)

That would ensure a good even stretch rather than stretching two seperate pieces of wire

...once pulsed up real slow and easy and cued that it vapes better than any coils I've ever mounted....

Making a perfect coil is not to tricky. It's the mounting that will upset even the most perfectly wound, tensioned or formed coil. Here's what I ask of those with different opinions:

Shoot a vid of your coil creation, mounting, and firing sequence....

Unless you are useing monster wire (I'm only using 27 ga) you are gonna see some seperation, even if minute.

Hey Russ, good looking build Bro! I haven't watched the video yet as my sleep schedule is still fubar but I will be on it shortly.

On the point of pulsing low and slow I agree totally, I start my coils at 10w and only jump to 30w when they show even firing (gentle raking only).

Yes, making a "perfect" coil isn't that hard (wraps touching, no odd angles inside the wrap), however, I disagree about mounting distorting the coils... at least with the gauges I'm using. Honestly, they are probably there, just harder to see with the larger wire (and perhaps selective vision - I don't *want* to see them lol).

The only place that my coils show any separation is the negative leg at the bend, exactly where yours do; and with the major change in angle I think that is unavoidable.

I would be happy to make a video and post it but my 4g connection is so pathetic it might as well be dial up lol! Also, I'm finding that as little as 5lbs with 24ga is enough to at least give solid results... even girl fingers can bring that kind of force pretty easily! Besides, what I remember from the promo vid for the coiler it looked like a great alternative to having a gizmo at home so I can't write it off just for that alone.

Anyway, like I said last time... if it works for you and keeps the cigarettes at the store its worth the price. When it comes down to it - just wrap it, wick it and vape it!

Thanks for the vid Russ and good luck folks!

Thank you brother :). I wouldn't smoke again if they were free. I enjoy vaping so much more :)

Yeah, I can sometimes be quick to dismiss things at times that I don't find of interest. Guilty. But this movie I'm uploading right now will either confirm that I am complete bonehead or lead one to speculate that maybe I'm not :)

It may also show that I could learn a lot more, but life's short, kids are young, wife is hot so I'm down for game changers only at this point. Minor improvements gained by added time and effort simply don't add up to me. I mean, my vape already kicks freakin Ayuss :)

I'll let ya'll be the judge. It was fun to make too :)

in my opinion what matters is consistency and an even uniform wrap, I agree with mac that tensioning the wire can really allow for great consistency and it should be easy for anyone who is otherwise having issues as tensioning adds consistency, but then again the coilmaster also gives consistency without any tension at all and I believe my twisting method also gives a nice consistent even wrap. my wraps have a bit more tension than a coilmaster I think, but again, I believe it's more about consistent evenly wound above all else, tensioned or otherwise

I made a quick vid at work, one shot with no editing, I didn't go crazy to make the 2 end wraps and the legs to sit perfect after it was tightened to the atty because it was hard to see with the phone up over my head and reaching and stuff but you can kinda see what my twists are like, one light skewer till perfect, sometimes I don't have to skewer it at all. I'll make a better video with a set of duals this weekend at home when I have more time but heres what I did for now, if I tried a few times I can def do better :)

here is a picture of that coil, I really did a crap job on the legs and it distorted my 2 end wraps big time but the coil itself is nice and consistent and it vapes great :) if I took more that 4.5 min to do the whole video I could have made the legs better but I was kinda in a rush :)

since I already had everything set up I decided to do a set of duals because I can't enjoy a single coil in a larger atty like that, and I decided to video it for the heck of it.... I got the camera orientation right so maybe you can at least see me wrapping better than the first vid... def not my finest build by a long shot but since I video'd it figured I'd put it here, not too bad for a quicky build, not even having 2 rods to mount the coils and not being able to even see what the heck I was doing, considering it was like 7 minutes from wire on the spool to duals mounted and firing evenly, all while trying to work around filming it :) I'll def do a better video when I have a chance

Turbo, I just started to watch em then got interrupted by dinner but will watch both tonight.

It's good to have a voice to associate with you now bro. From here on out, I'll be hearing your posts like tony soprano said them :)

Nice work turbo bro. Lemme post my movie - the mayweather coil vs pacquiao coil with a FSM as the ring where they square off :)
