hey there everyone,

i have been cleaning and dry burning my coil heads and afterwards getting a wickedly aweful taste after doing so. ive tried all of the cleaning methods i have found on here but seem to get the same result. im not using a really thick juice (flavor crafters mac maurier and black cherry, in different tanks) is it just these blasted kangertech heads? ive found a couple that have worked awesome for about a week or so and then when preformance goes down i clean them and then the taste happens. any suggestions?

couple things....

-dry burning your coil will taste and smell like garbaj because you are burning off all the crap thats preventing it from working like normal
-to minimize the lingering bad taste you should rinse rinse and rinse the tank AND the coil after dry burning
-if there is any black left on your coil/wick then you'll need to continue the dry burning process until it LOOKS clean again AKA no black
-sometimes a coil can be fukd beyond repair and no amount of cleaning/maintenance will return it to normal

Are you priming the coil before hitting it?? Are you popping the chimney off and removing the flavor wick before dry burning? Are you rinsing after dry burning? The best thing you can do is to remove all of the wicks, dry burn and replace the one running thru the coil with a bit of cotton wick. You'll be pleasently surprised...yummy vape!! Do not dry burn cotton!!

I don't even bother to dry burn mine, I have been rotating 9 coils for 4 weeks now with no problems. I rinse them really well under the hottest tap water then remove the rubber piece and rinse again, then soak overnight in everclear, next morning I rinse them again well under hot tap water, replace the rubber piece and dry them with a paper towel and blow through them. Then I let sit to dry for the rest of the day. No bad taste so far.

In the process of dry burning that coil, you may have melted some of those little rubber seals. You'll never get the taste back on that head after that. I've tried dry burning Kanger heads to clean the coil and the end result has either been a melted seal or a popped coil. With Kanger heads, it's better to just replace them and toss the old one. iClear heads dry burn just fine for the most part, but Kanger doesn't seem to work.

I've been having a similar experience this week. The first dry burn I did I forgot to rinse after the burn. YUCK! Next time I rinsed and rinsed, but I still had a burnt taste. The last one I did, this morning, didn't taste burnt--it didn't taste at all, no flavor whatsoever.

I'm going to try this procedure next and see if that doesn't help.

Welcome to the forum!

Burnt taste can linger for sure. Especially if you get some dry hits. The smell/ taste gets stuck to The tube & mouthpiece. Even on dry burning the burnt taste can stay just from dry burning. Wash tank and mouthpiece &tube with dish soap. As well as the 510 with coil assembly out. Rinse well. The coil area coil and wick I wouldn't put soap on. I actually pour a clear mouthwash on it. I find that freshens it up, if you got it you can hydrogen peroxide rinse it too, let sit a minute soaked then rinse well with water. (I'm also rewicking it at this time too)

I'm having a similar flavor problem, but on a mech mod.
M-16, with a 0.4 ohm dual coil, 28ga.twisted pair on a Patriot. Sony VTC5, with a full charge.
Great vapor, great flavor, but after a while, there's a liquid build- up on the DT. It tastes pretty bad. Is it condensation? drawing too hard? (airholes are drilled out to 1/16")

I stopped dry burning. All you do is reduce whats left into something that's harder to get rid of. Unless you can dry burn it completely to dust that will rinse away, its counter-productive imo. I just boil for 3 minutes, then soak them sometimes for 3 - 4 days, and blast it out with a syringe. I get months out of them and never dry burn once. There is a point of no return eventually, whether you dry burn or not. I also stopped using sweetener, that stuff gunks up coils to the major. Instead, I substitute Capella's Sweet Strawberry or another sweetish flavor for sweetener. Its much more coil friendly that way. :2c:
