I used to have throw-away cartridges so im also new to the use of e-juice and also to my VP: VE riva 1100 including the tanks

some basic healthcare questions about e-juice...
-what do i do if i pour a complete tank (3.5ml+) over my hands? 8-o didn't happen tho , just want to know what to do when it happens and im pretty sure it will eventually  .
-when i try a different juice in my tank does it matter if there are little remains of another in it?
-im told i should rinse my tanks with clean fresh water weekly, correct?
-the battery contact point can get sticky and yellow from nicotine over time is this also a fact with the riva 1100 , if so
do you really use a metal paper-clip to gently scrape it off then wipe off with a wet piece of paper and then make sure it really really dry or is this not recommended, if not please advise.
-in normal use tanks such as the vivi nova 2.5 should never be replaced, right?
-the wicks in them should every few weeks i am told , how do you know this?
-any harm to completely empty a tank by means of vaping?

as you see my questions you may think of stuff that i really should know , please add this info :?:

friendly regards,

bryan

Wash your hands pronto. You're using premix, so it isn't a BIG problem, but nicotine is readily absorbed through skin. Wash hands first, THEN clean up the spill. Safety first. It's just good habit.

It depends on what was in there before. The old flavour will eventually cook off and be replaced by the new one. This can lead to some interesting/horrid combinations for a bit. Some flavours have a tendency to stick around longer than others (menthol types are one).

You should rinse the tank out when you change liquid and/or are doing a clean.

I don't recommend scraping the battery contact, you could push it down or physically damage it. A bit of water or alcohol on a Q-Tip/cotton swab and gently cleaning will work. A bit of discoloration won't break the battery. Dry thoroughly, obviously, to prevent short circuit.

"Never" is a very long time. The plastics shouldn't biodegrade any time soon, proper care (don't scratch it) and they will probably outlive you.

When it starts tasting like something only Satan himself could dream up, even after a full clean.

The only thing I can say is to clean everything occasionally (I did my first clean after 4 days use). Disassemble the works. Top/bottom cap, drip tip, remove the head and the top rubber cap for it. Rinse everything under warm tap water; or fill a large bowl with warm water if you're worried you'll drop a part down the drain. Dry everything you can get to easily with paper towel, leave it disassembled on a paper towel overnight/24 hours. Put it all back together, fill, and you'll be good to go. The first few pulls may be sub-par if there's still a bit of moisture on the wicks. Don't worry, it cooks off and you'll be back to vaping properly in no time. Personally, I don't even let it wait overnight, though I trim my wicks down so they don't retain as much water. I put it together right away, fill, and just deal with a few "meh" vapes. Once the liquid wicks to the coil it resumes full functionality.

A full disassemble/clean only takes around 5 minutes.

Enjoy your Vivi! I'm still a bit new using mine, but I'm sure there's other little tricks people will share once the rest of the world wakes up. Slackers.

I agree with the above answers, except I also dry burn the coil to clean the gunk. I do this every time I refill it to maintain the coil/wick. Before I knew to do this, I just replaced it but now that I do that the same head has worked just fine with no replacing it at all. I can't say it is "every few weeks" you need to change the head, I changed mine after a few days.I haven't tasted anything bad, so I guess the preventive maintenance is working.

And the op is right, everyone gets juice on them at some point. Just wash your hands right away then clean it up LOL

Hi kotje,
Tanks need only be replaced if they crack or become severely discoloured.
You can always get a Metal tank for the vivi to avoid problems.

Wicks will last quite awhile if you treat them right, although that depends on what you mean by a few weeks? Wash, rinse, dry the head. Then Dry Burn, but a few seconds at a time, then wash, rinse and dry. Ready for use.;) Some members have explained alot better than I can.
This thread could also be helpful: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tanks/327906-cleaning-replaceable-heads-vivi-nova.html

If you are interested in re-coiling and re-wicking, they both use cotton, you can use a silica wick if you prefer, see here:

Another Vivi Nova Rebuild - YouTube

Otherwise just as vsummer1 & recidivus have stated.:)

Could you do a run down on the dry burn? I was going to go into it but was having trouble explaining it properly, so just did the "personally I don't" bit (which wasn't a lie).

Well I'm one of those that doesn't (unless there is an obvious reason to)

Basically after you have washed and gotten rid of as much water as you can from the wick, apply power for three seconds. Repeat until you get a nice even glow all the way across the surface of the coil.

I do it and find that the coil usually needs it. If it doesn't glow all the way across, you need to do it until it does. If it isn't heating, you aren't going to get any vapor! It takes a only a minute.

You just attach the vivi, without the top screwed on and without the little cap over the head, to your battery and look at the coil. Apply the power for a few seconds, then wait 10 seconds for it to cool down. Repeat until it glows all the way across. Wait for it to cool, and then I just rinse it out again, blot the wick and leave it to dry (or not, though the water will make for a weak vape.) If you "pop" it (which I haven't yet) at least you tried to make it usable before tossing it. First time I did it, the thing was going to be trashed as it just didn't work well anymore. After I did it, it was good to go so now I just consider it part of routine maintenance and haven't replaced another head in a few weeks.

I clean my battery contacts and threads every time the battery needs to be charged - or if using a device that tends to leak juice more, you clean it more often. Dip a cotton swap into some alcohol and swab the contact, inner and outer neck of the fitting and around the threads.

If the juice is similar or a complementing in flavor, I don't necessarily always rinse the tank out before refilling.
