Testing wire resistance???

Hello I was wondering how to test a wire's resistance per foot. So it would be easier to gauge how much twistid wire I would need with out building a coil first then testing.
Would cutting a foot of it and holding my multimeter to each side work?

You'll get better results with a longer section of wire, the meters we use aren't super accurate for such small lengths so the longer the wire the more accurate you can expect the reading to be.

I'd suggest 1m or 3' then divide accordingly.

I believe that there are charts with that info. Unless you are talking about twisting it and then measuring the resistance. I could be completely wrong but wouldn't you get half the resistance by twisting two wires together?

wouldn't it be the more wire the more resistance as it would be a longer trip from pos+ to neg-
which is why you can do 5 wraps of 24g and 10 wraps of a thinner gauge and get same ohms?

More volume of wire over a particular distance = less resistance.

Its more like thinking of pipes that carry water, bigger pipe = more water.

Its a bit more complicated but in essence that's good enough.

Ok think I got it now had it backwards
The thicker wire has less resistance that's why we have to use more wraps to get same resistance...
