Nope. Still no power. it went out Friday night and still out now. I have been at my MIL since Saturday morning. she has power. Traffic lights were out half the way down and a drive that usually takes an hour took two. When we finally came to a gas station that was open, the line to get gas was probably 30 cars. I skipped that and got gas a little further south.

I heard 1 and a half million people lost power in Md, DC and Va. Then the forecast was for 100 yesterday.

Mid to upper 90's still forecast coming up. I sure hoppe the power comes back on soon.

that storm was intense! and it came on a day we broke records with 104 degrees

Hi Padre,

Man, that's a shame about not having power. I really hope they get it on fast.

From what I've been reading ... and if I'm not mistaken, there are something like 3 million people without power this morning and their saying it could take as long as a week to get it back on.

I hope it happens today for you though!!!

Well if nothing else you can always make her a pig skin seat cushion for the pew.
Mrs. Piggy may not like it but if done right you can also have a month's worth of bacon too.

Dang, I like the way you think Gummy Bear!

That sounds like a plan to me ... oh wait ... Free would hurt me if I decapitated her piggy!

Ha, see,,,, yesterday the temp in Tampa was 87. (with very low humidity)
now of course over here (very in-land) we got up to 92, but that beats the heck out of 104 any day.

We rarely ever get above 90 in the summer and humidity does not rise above 30% unless it is raining. This weather is the exception and not the rule. 92 is still hot in my book :)

The noob that I was trying to help was just too skeered to give me his address lol He is going to vape some nasty stuff that he has to get him by until he can get more flavors. I tried!

I have been putting ice blocks in my bird baths twice a day for the birds and critters that I feed/water. They have really been enjoying it. I may run the sprinkler for a bit late this afternoon.

LOL, that is hilarious about the noob, salem!! I wonder how he is going to order juice or anything else without giving out his address? He must have some ex-wives looking for him or something.

Gosh, I wonder what the birds, bee's and varmits did before there was salem? Ice water baths!!!

Too cool! (No pun intended ... okay, so there WAS a pun intended!)

Oh, and I have a revised weather forecast for here in Yeast Texas .... 90 degrees!!! Eat your hearts out over there on the East Coast!!

I have somewhere I can be for the AC, but we have to head home soon. My daughter was there last night and she said it is hot in there!

TT I also heard 3 million people without power. The 1.5 million I mentioned was just in DC/MD/VA area.

We had a party planned for yesterday which is why we are at the MIL. she lives on theh banks of a river, good shade and a slight breeze and it really wasn't too bad yesterday even though the temps were near 100.

I need to get home and fire up the generator to see if I can save the food in the freezers.

I hope it comes on soon, but I know they have a lot of work ahead of them to get it fixed. If it didn't come on within 6-12 hours, then the problems are a little more complicated. The utility companies fix the easy ones first and then the harder ones. The amount of trees we saw down yesterday tells me it is going to take a while to get everyone fixed.

Luckily I remembered my PW to here so I could come tell you about it. Otherwise I would have to wait until my computer was working that has theh PW stored!

Gummy, don't be so defensive about Florida lol I have family in Tampa and Clearwater. I lived in te exact same environment for 32 years of my life :) There is nothing wrong with it at all. I just enjoy having a change of seasons, cooler weather at Christmas and Thanksgiving and not being saturated in sweat day or night when I walk out my door. Life is much more comfortable for me this way ;)

Oh Pad! I had a bad feeling that you were without power :( I hope that it is restored quickly! You have a few emails from me when you get to them. Glad to know that you are okay though!

Thanks Salem!

I just looked at the outage map from our utility co. and the good news is they are restoring power at a pretty good rate, the bad news is the area near my home has very few outages compared to other areas and that probably means I have to wait until they restore power to a larger number of people before they come to my neighborhood!

Horrible!

I just enjoy having a change of seasons,;)

But we have 2 seasons here,,,, To hot and to cold...........Ain't that enough ?

OK, I have hinted a few times lately as to my latest mod. I have spent the past month making a non-conductive part so that I can have a dual coil ViVi Nova. The final stage (glue is drying) is just a matter of waiting now.
I turned (Very carefully) a rock (Jasper stone) into what would be an over sized ceramic cup like the CE2s have. I don't have access to a 3-D printer so I made it from a rock. By this time tomorrow I should have the proof of concept proto-type vapeable. I was so afraid that the last 30 seconds of grinding on the stone would shatter it into a million parts that I held off on saying anything till now.

So Just in case it works, just remember that you heard it here first.
Should I call it the ViVi Gummy or the Gummy Nova?

Well glad you had a alternate site there Padre. Hopefully not opening the fridge and freezer you have prolonged the life of your food.

I'm with you TT, the water slides would be good for one trip for me, then i wouldn't be able to get back to the top. Especially with a torn ACL. I posted on my shooters forum asking for experience of people with torn ACL's and the info has not been encouraging at all. They are recommending the full surgery and i just don't know about the time out from work and recovery being covered by my insurance. I found that my insurance only covers 20 sessions of Physical therapy and that is not enough for major surgery. I don't have great insurance since the company i work for has less than 100 employees and doesn't have the bargaining power.

It will be called the TT El Supremo.

Me and the Chinese have already picked up on your idea and we have people cutting the cup out of Chinese jade (we had to use a "green" stone, of course to match my avvie). The device will be painted green that is guaranteed to flake off and the unit will fire automatically if placed in a pocket or purse. We have configured the PV to hold four cartos and one atty for maximum confusion and will be sold for a reasonably high price.

I'm going to be rich!!! Finally!! Thanks for sharing your invention with me Gummy!

Hi TTers, I guess I'd better not complain about our mild weather. No sun, no heat, just misty rain & clouds. At least we have power & the trees are still in the upright position, unlike the east coasters.
Some little felons did manage to blow up 3 mail boxes on our street the other night - that was big excitement! The fire dept & police said it was "much more" than fireworks, so they're investigating. Funny thing is, everyone in the neighborhood heard the explosion, and no one called the police until the next day...when we saw chards of metal & wood all over.
I'm happy that it wasn't OUR box this year. They got ours a few years back & we still use it even though it's all bent & crooked!

Anyhow. That is ALL the excitement around here. We've been babysitting while my son & his wife get moved to their new house, so I've been too tired & busy to post much, but I am back reading when I can.
Oh, and TT, your post about the trailer made me chuckle. The "giant beast" my husb wants is only 22 feet, which seems HUGE to me...but probably more like a wee little tent to you!

xoxo y'alls, and Happy Sunday!!

I was awake all night last night. I have had a racing heart/sleeplessness since I had the root canal. I knew it had to be the "anti inflammatory" that the dentist gave to me so I looked it up. Now the man knows that I have pnuemonia so why not put me on steroids and supress my immune system?? Sounded like a good idea to him evidently. Check behind your docs on the meds guys. I wonder if they really even put any thought into it before prescribing :(

Dexamethasone is a potent synthetic member of the glucocorticoid class of steroid drugs. It acts as an anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant. When taken orally, it is 26.6 times more potent than the naturally occurring hormone cortisol and 6.6 times more potent than prednisone.

I will admit that it has helped with the pain tremendously but I would rather have my immune system be functioning at maximum capacity with pnuemonia I think

Geez!

Thanks FranC.

Honey girl is hurting pretty bad this morning so I don't know if we're going to be able to go out to the lake today or not. She's taken her pain pills, so we'll see how she feels later. Church was in the plans for this morning too, but I think that's going to be out. We have real good pews, but its hard for her to sit on them, especially when she's hurting bad.

But its not a total wash. The family out at the lake can always come by the house and visit with her a while. Its only seven miles from the house to the lake.

And I like taking care of her.

TT

Awe, TT :( I am so sorry that Mrs TT is hurting! Please tell her that she is in my thoughts and prayers. Maybe she just over did things a little yesterday and with a little rest today will be good as new tomorrow :) I sure hope so
