I love the TFA apple pie flavor. I settled in at 12% Apple Pie & 5% EM.

The TFA cheesecake OTOH is just disgusting. It smells almost as bad as it tastes.

I am still rather new to DIY, but I've now made about 15 successful juices, mostly simple recipes.

I make my initial samples without the nicotine, just PG, VG & flavorings (so I don't waste my nic solution). So I tried the cheesecake at 5%, 7% & 10%. They all smelled worse than rotten meat. The inhale taste wasn't too bad, but the exhale was horrid on all three. I can't imagine using this even as an additive.

Is this normal for TFA cheesecake flavoring?

I've heard that Capella's NY Cheesecake is quite delicious. Should I get that one instead?

Thanks for the suggestion. I let it age for 3 days, but maybe I need to wait awhile before tasting it again.

Did you notice the God-awful smell? I just received this as a new flavor to try, but my first thought was that this flavoring had gone rancid or something. The gross smell is an understatement -- I mean it's about the worst thing I have ever smelled.

Merlin, sorry if I've cast a negative note against this flavor. Maybe yours won't smell so bad.

I took the cap off the 5% mix this morning, and the smell really affected my sister. She has a weak stomach due to Celiac Disease, but honestly, I almost gagged as well. I will keep this capped for at least another week. If they still smell this bad, they're going in the trash.

Oh no not at all, thank you for posting about it. I remember reading something negative about it befor yours but I am a glutton for punishment and will try it myself.

Capella's NY Cheesecake is the one, I read poor reviews here on all the other cheesecakes and Cap's got the nod so that's what I bought and I'm very, very happy with it!

Vapedudes cheesecake is what got me into it and I had some left and compared the two and VD has just a bit more sweetness which I like so I tweaked my recipe a bit and here's what I got, it's excellent:

15% Capellas NYS Cheesecake
5% EM ( cotton candy)
10% Distilled water
70% VG (nics in there too,12mg)

Curious....has anybody tried both TFA and Capella Apple Pie? I have the Capella and think it's pretty good. Just wondering how TFA AP compares.

Regarding cheesecake...Capella is good. Haven't tried the others. I had a blueberry cheesecake juice from Tasty Vapor when I first started vaping. The blueberry was out of this world good...the cheesecake was reminiscent of badly curdled milk.

Thanks so much for the recipe! I'll definitely order some Capellas to try.

Does this one need any steeping time?

I just made it yesterday and have been vaping it since...I do a "quick steep" by putting my bottles ( glass) in bowl of hot microwaved water, pulling them out, shaking them, letting the water cool and then repeating the process...the heat helps the flavors to "marry" with the VG (by thinning it's consistency) that tends to be more resistant than PG.

It's tangy and sweet and creamy!

Let me know if you give it a try, I'd like to hear your opinion on it either way.

Don't even try sniffing TFA Tiramisu.. Tastes great at 4%-5%, but the smell is not to be believed!

When I first got Tiramisu, I mixed it at like 10%. And it was a lesson learned in taking things at a slower pace because it tasted like straight skunk .... It was so bad that it lingered in my mouth/nose for days and I never could get it out of the atomizer.

Might be a "Taste is subjective" thing? I like TFA (Plain) better than NY Cheesecake LA, seems to have a more rich and buttery base behind it, while LA's seems like more vanilla/cream to me.

TFA does need to steep MUCH longer than LA's, maybe after a week or so it's GREAT, before then it's weak and iffy tasting. After about a week it changes color too (light goldish pink/orange maybe), so if yours hadn't changed color yet then it probably wasn't ready. That or maybe it's only good to certain people's taste buds?

I emailed Linda at TFA about a few molecules listed on her site, on the other side, to see if they would maybe be OK to use and would improve the cheesecake, and I also asked about cream cheese flavoring to try adding in small amounts as well for a more rounded cheesecake flavor. But, she wanted me to call her and I just haven't found the time to do that yet, hopefully I can soon so maybe we can get together on some ideas and test a few flavors, so we can maybe improve her Cheesecake.

I do think TFA is better though, but maybe it's just me? I read a lot of people's cheesecake threads here before I started playing with mine, and I do see most prefer LA or Cap, so not sure if that's all "taste subjective" stuff or maybe a mix of that and some people not steeping long enough too?

Dawn sent me some of her's from DIYFlavorshack that I still need to try too, maybe it's the best? She sent some pre-mixed and some DIY, but I haven't had time to mix any yet and the pre-mixed I've been letting steep just in case she just made before sending to me because I know cheesecakes need it for sure. I'll let you know what I think about it once I test it out, I know cheesecakes are great and I love them myself, so I'll try to help you find a good one too while I'm messing with it :)

If you didn't steep yours before, and still have them, wait a week or so and they might be great to you! If you don't have them anymore, but would be willing to try again, try 2 more and steep them for a week+. I'd say try 7% and 10%, no EM/Sweetener, ect. Then after the steep you can decide if you want to sweeten, add cream/white chocolate/vanilla or toss ect :)

Well, enough of my thoughts on cheesecake for now! Hope that helps!

Aurora, I'm letting them steep for now. I have 3 5ml samples (5%, 7% & 10%). Before I made it, I knew it would probably need steeping from all the posts I've read here in the DIY forum. But the thing that bothered me the most was the really bad smell. Did your TFA cheesecake flavor have a really bad odor to it when you opened the bottle?

I am suspicious that the bottle I received is just not right, maybe rancid or something. Can this stuff spoil?

I placed an order today for some Capella flavors, including the NY cheesecake. So at least I'll then be able to compare them at some point.

Edited to add: On a happier note, my TFA English Toffee is delicious.

Hmm, not sure if you should steep now!

I say that because, NO, my TFA Cheesecake Plain smells fine in the bottle, maybe strong buttery smell w/ a little vanilla. A bit less rich smelling than Bavarian Cream, with a bit more butter like smell to it. Similar to LA NY Cheesecake, but that one does have a little bit of a sour cream or cream cheese smell to it (But it's good kind of cheese smell :)). None of them smell rancid, or like bad cheese, butter, or milk ect.

So I do think you might have a bad batch!! Hard to say for sure because we can't smell each others to compare... Man, that sounded bad haha, here, smell this! :D

But ya, it does sound like the batch you have might be bad! I'd go ahead and contact the vendor for a replacement, especially if you purchased it recently. I don't know if it can spoil, how long that would take, or how it would smell when spoiled, but it sounds like yours might be since you mentioned rancid.

For your reference, my batch is - TFA-131510 (From WL)

Great to hear your toffee turned out nicely! I need to order some toffee and caramel flavors myself, thanks for the reminder!
