Just getting into the DIY e-juice I did get some small bottles from TFA and have been playing with them but those small bottles do not go to far. I did try some of the lorann flavors also but not a lot of luck with them other than a pineapple, coconut, marshmallow mix that didn’t come out to bad.
I going to make another order from TFA but I am wondering about what 3-5 flavors you have to have to make the best e-juice recipes. Not the main flavors, but I guess they would be called the background flavors, sweeteners etc. IE: what do you use most in almost every recipe that you make. Going through the recipes I see a lot of.....
EM / cotton candy
Bavarian Cream
Sweet Cream
Vanilla Swirl
Sweetener
Mostly I am working with fruity type flavors right now might try to do a tobacco one later.
One more quick question, might want to try a cheesecake is it better to get the cheesecake w/ graham crust or get them separate.

Most of what you ask can only be answered by you. Taste is very different to everyone. I have some recommended reading that will answer most of these questions that you are asking. Good mixes don't just start with flavor selection. The amount of flavoring, Quality of flavor, How you mix your base and the quality of Nicotine solution used all play a part in the final result.

My blogs will give insight into all aspects of DYI, from steeping to what supplies to have on hand to a basic walk through mixing your first E-juice.

Then read hoosier's blogs. These blogs concentrate on fine tuning your mix and give insight on additives.

Then read Boletus's blog's. These blogs concentrate on formulation of nicotine baces regarding proper calculations methods for figuring Nicotine concentration as well as safety.

Then read Ginger's book "E-Cigarettes 102: DIY E-Liquid". It is a book which I've contributed to that delivers an in depth easy to follow guide in the art of DYI.

I recommend viewing VPLive Vape Team Episode #82: DIY Safety and bookmark it for future reference. It explains safety in all aspects of DYI.

then read the stickies at the top of the page.

this will explain a lot of the how's and why's.

Sweet Cream is one of my new favorite flavors, I have mixed up a few juices now where I just take a base fruit flavor, and throw 2% Sweet Cream and 2% EM in and it will give me an enjoyable vape. Bavarian Cream is coming in my next order so I can't say much about that yet, other than seeing it highly recommended by others. I also see Vanilla Swirl in a lot of recipes, but I have yet to get that one tuned in to give me a flavor I want. As for the cheesecake, in my couple test batches I have done with Cheesecake (Graham Crust), it tastes nice at low wattage, but the Graham Crust part of the flavor comes off tasting burnt and sticks out really bad whenever I try to use it in anything other than a low end tank. I believe Bill recommends Cheesecake from other companies, as TFAs isn't the greatest.

There's a gent named Bill's Magic Vapor out here. He's kind of a "wizard" when it comes to TFA flavorings. Take a gander at his blogs: E-Cigarette Forum - Bill's Magic Vapor - Blogs. He references a number of "base" flavors you might want in your arsenal - you've mentioned a number of them. From there, it becomes a matter of adding this or that to change the overall dynamic of the juice.

I have an army of those little 8mL bottles. Once I start honing my skilz, I'll probably opt for larger bottles of the base flavors, and get the smaller bottles for the one-offs....

Enjoy!

That's what i do.Any new flavor i get,i always get a smaller sample because if i dont like it,i dont want to waste $7 or $8 on it.Once i know i like a flavor and will use it alot, then i buy the 4oz. bottle, which is mostly like the op mentioned,i got all my creams and caramel in the big bottles, but most flavors that wont be used in alot of recipes,i'll just get maybe a 30ml and that will last a long time.
