Ii rewicked my TFV4 a week ago and have been so utterly impressed with my wicking as I have not seen a single drop of spilled juice out of the air holes. Usually I would see a slight juice film at at the air holes after filling but this time nothing. Thought I had hit the holy grail of wicking.

I sit my mod and the TFV4 on my stomach tonight, and what do you know, it decides to leak and I have a nice big juice stain on my shirt.

Why does this thing decide to leak after a week? Any ideas?

Whenever i sit an rta on its side and it leaks, i assume it is my fault for sitting it on its side. As a rule i always keep my rta's upright to avoid these leaks. I cant even tell you if any of mine are able to lay down without leaking, but ive heard the Griffin can, but I wont ever know. Anyway as far as the TFV4's rta goes, ive never been able to get it not to leak, but for me I believe it was due to the oring not sealing correctly to the top inner shaft or sealing correctly at the bottom. It l, for some reason doesnt screw down all the way tightly and make that air tight seal. Not sure if this is whats happening with yours, but I hope it helps. Try noticing how far it screws(past the o-rings with and without being attached to the tank and see if theres a difference in the sealing of the rta to the inner shaft. Migjt be that your not getting that vacuum seal that I too wasnt getting

A week you are doing well. I find if I do not wick after every couple tankfuls it starts to leak. So I think you did hit the holy grail of wicking. LOL CHEERS!
Ya me too. I now remember the dread from this rta. I would have a good tank and a half of success and leaks all of a sudden, just making my ocd go into a rage

I have actually been very lucky with my TFV4. Bought the tank about 6 months(?) ago. The only leaking I have experienced was when i wicked the RBA wrong (not enough cotton). I managed to wick it correctly and had no leaking issues. I have since switched to just using the quad coil however because its just so tasty. A real juice ..... though. The only leaks I get now are when I take the tank off to use my dripper and lay it on its side. Only a amall amount of leaking though. My problems with this tank have to do with the rubber a band sliding off in my pocket. The cap swung open and leaked all in my pants. I wish there was a lip or something to prevent the band from sliding off. Best thing for that is to totally remove the band when filling because if even a little bit of juice gets on there it will slide right off. I also run the band under hot water to make sure there is no juice on it each fill. My biggest gripe with this tank is the glass. I am on my fourth replacement right now. You have to be careful when tightening the tank. if it starts to thread wrong the glass will break. I have also broken my glass just by knocking my mod over. I think the issue lies in the fact that the glass butts right up against the metal. Other then that I love this tank. Just make sure to keep a couple of replacement glass handy. It really seems like it is hit or miss with this tank. I was one of the lucky ones.

When I had leaks with the RBA head, it was due to putting in too little wick or leaving it too short. There are several good tutorials out there, but most of it is summed up with "put in lots of cotton, and trim it down to lay into the juice channels without compressing or being too loose. Also, don't leave it too short". I make sure the wick pokes out just a little bit when the chamber is screwed on. After doing it a few times, it becomes easy.

This is what i would also have suggested, however in my case(as well as a few other people who ended up with a defective rba head) the actual o ring wasnt meeting the top where the shaft meets and making a proper seal. There just wasnt a true way around it I was comfortable with and the vacuum seal was never created, leaving ejuice to leak out all the time. Id tried a few things ive learned over the course of wicking rta's, but after hours of trial and error, id given up and actually moved onto an rta that worked flawlessly so I had no reason to either. Im told you can just leave the champer unscrewed so its high enough off the base to now meet the o ring up top and make a seal, but when I tried this i ended up flooding also, so while some habe been successful with this approach (to the defective rba sections out there), I on the other hand was not. Too bad too because I really had the highest of hopes for this tank when it came out :-/

You able to elaborate? or point me to a wee tutorial on wicking the RBA head?
I'm having a terrible time with leaking on my TFV4.

Should the cotton be sitting over (on top) of the coil?

My current setup is a self-made coil of 4 wraps of 22 gauge wire (I'm loving the 22 gauge) - giving me 0.3ohms. (I biffed (but have saved) the factory coil it came with). Put in about 2.5" of cotton and screwed the top on. Cut off the cotton well above the edge, wet it with some juice and packed it down around the coil. (A *little* bit of cotton goes over one edge of the coil). And then screwed the top on so its all together.
But... just like the factory supplied triple-head, it leaks like a sieve!
