After doing some research on mods, I was interested in the Chuck.I sent an email to them from their website asking a simple Question about the custom graphics option. That email was sent August 8th. Fifteen days later I got an answer. That is just plain HORRIBLE customer service.Needless to say I bought another mod from a different company. THANX FOR NOTHING THAG

Oh gosh, that's quite a long time! Was anything posted on their website about them getting a lot of emails or being on vacation or anything? I also would say that 15 days is unacceptable!

Seriously? Wow... Need to post a thread about it? And he didn't lose a customer when you weren't one to begin with.

I don't think that it's unreasonable to want a response within 2-3 days, especially if you are seriously set on ordering from someplace.

It was an email, it wasn't like it was snail mail. And even then, snail mail is faster than that within the country!

I just don't think it's reasonable to post such a negative thread about it here. That's kind of jumping to conclusions. Thagbuilt has a forum and OP could have gone there to maybe ask about if something's going on with the email? Or maybe what happened was the OP asked a question that has a clear answer on the thagbuilt site or could have found the answer on the forum. I don't know, that's my stance. I have had serious contact problems with him too but I never felt wronged by it because most of the time the things I was contacting him for were things like mentioned above. Of course it's not unreasonable to expect a quick reply.

Ok, Xanax,If you want to get technical, They lost a POTENTIAL customer.I was going to buy a chuck but had a question about the graphics.oh and YES I needed to post a thread about it because it is unacceptable. If you are running a business from a web site you need to answer questions in a reasonable amount of time.15 days is not reasonable.

The vendors I usually use answer in minutes or hours.

Less than that in the current market would lose my *potential* business.

I'll play devil's advocate here. Jeff is a busy busy dude, he runs Thag Built, makes all the Chucks by himself, and runs a printing company. He doesn't respond to emails very quickly... ever. I am not saying that is right, or wrong and I certainly understand where the OP is coming from, but for those who might be put off by this post, honestly Jeff is a damn good dude and cares about his customers, but he is spread a little thin. If you need an answer, if you post your question in the Thag Built sub forum you are more likely to get a faster response.

I wouldn't have been happy. I probably would've sent a couple more emails. I definitely would not have created a thread though.

I believe that people would find out also when they email them that this might happen. If people choose to still do business with them it's up to them.

So why slam the company?

Also it's very easy for email mix ups.

I read stuff and know who to take seriously and who not to.

I don't know the reasoning behind not replying quick enough, but I would guess Jeff gets swamped with emails and PMs and I beleive he is still the one that manufactures the chuck as well.. so it's not like he is a big corperation with a huge staff.. or just has sitting stock that would leave him to just respond and ship.

I am not dismissing the OP's complaint.. I am only making a clarification to views of this thread ... and from reading TONS of threads here on the forum.. from the huge membership here... there is a big chunck of chuck wanting threads.. so I would imagine it could be overwhelming to react to requests/questions/manufacturing/and customizing..

I could be wrong but that is my take on it....

One thing for sure he is busy. I just got my chuck a few days ago. Love it! It took me 19 days to get it. But he has said that all his emails do not get to him and they go to the spam folder. Now Im not sticking up for him because I think it is bad for him to not check his spam folder just in case one or two may have slipped thru. But between his job and making Chucks I can see how this happens. But from my Chuck it was worth the wait! I got a little Chuck and this thing kicks ....!!! Just my nickle.

It seems like you are making a lot of excuses for Thag with the what ifs and I wouldn't, etc. Me thinks thou doth protest too much.
You wouldn't be so unreasonable to to post a thread about this but the OP sure did. Seems reasonable to me....then again I don't seem to know much more about it other than what he posted.

Sounds like Jeff needs an assistant! May help with his customer response time and keeping people happy.

And I really don't think that it's unreasonable to post about such an experience here to warn other people that his response isn't timely. He may have been a little excited about it when he posted, but the message is still the same.

Then again, I'm not a mod... yet. :p (I wish!) ;)

Jeff gets an A++++ in my book. Had my chuck dang near a year now and it still is a headbuster.

Indeed, I'm sure he does fine work, though I haven't ever got one myself. But his reputation for his items are very good around here it seems.

However, we are talking about customer service here. :p

Can someone explain something to me? Why is it that no one can seem to come to the forum and express a less than stellar experience with a vendor without getting jumped on?
I mean we may or may not agree with it but it is their experience with that vendor!
I have not had any dealings with this vendor but I do read the reviews as I base my opinions not just on the glowing reviews but also on reviews as to how a supplier or vendor takes care of issues that might come along the way. If they cannot answer emails within 2 weeks, then there might be a problem.

How can the suppliers even know there is a problem if it is not reported somewhere? This can help the vendor ultimately improve their business if they have a need in that area if they take the criticism at hand and work with it. I just do not understand the need to give forum members a hard time that come here to give us their honest opinions on their experiences.

If this continues we will never see anything but "good report" and glowing reviews. If there are problems, will they be swept under the rug due to people being afraid to voice their concerns? This may be the case in some instances already. We really need to step back and think about if that is what we really want here. Any supplier or vendor worth their salt can take a bit of constructive criticism and learn and grow from it. If not then, do they really need to be in business?

Jeff makes a great product at a fair price and stands behind it (not to mention custom graphics at no extra charge).

To start a thread bashing him just because of his e-mail response time? Really? Next time make the effort to at least post a question in his sub-forum before jumping to conclusions.

And imo if you ordered another mod just because of this = your loss.

Lets see if I can clear this up for some people. The reason I posted here is because this is what this forum is for.Reviews of suppliers, good or bad. Now I see people giving a list of excuses for Thag...ie busy, runs other companies,is a one man show, or just takes long to answer emails. I don't give a rats ... what the excuses are.NO WHERE on the web site does it say"I'm busy running other businesses and I'm a one man band so your questions will be answered whenever I find the time" The little link at the top of their page says "contact". That is the link you use to contact the owner of the business. And no I shouldn't have to send multiple emails OR post on their forum for a quicker response. So stop making excuses for THAG
