I still ‹3 NT the best, but I had a TERRIBLE coil clogger on hand that is so dark I refused to put it in something not rba. It's Pink Spot Swagger.

Question... Initially I got a pack of 50 precoiled wicks just to start us off. But I want to build my own too of course. What is the gauge of kanthal I should be looking for if I'm aiming for around 1.5 ohms?

Good job! You should be very proud of yourself that you did so well on your first try and that you are willing to take it a step further.
We will be here for you when you wrap your first coil!!! There is something to be said about wrapping a coil and it works!!!
Ok I need a little help!
I've been getting some burned hits intermittently. So it's not wicking properly I guess. Now, remember I said I got some precoiled wicks to start us off, until the kanthal comes. I'm wondering if it's these coils that are causing the issue, or if it's likely my juice channels are too shallow. I'd rather not take it apart again to look at the channels if I don't have to lol... It's hard to get my juice out of that thing without it being messy. I will attach a pic of the coil (keeping in mind I have to wrap one wire half way around so the tails come off opposite sides).
Also, a prime puff immediately fixes this taste problem, it's just only a temporary fix.
I've also already made the airflow as small as possible (even though I don't prefer it that way) to allow more suction into the channels.

Maybe try opening the air up some? Less air means less suction...at least drawing across the coil so that might help??? Sorry, not a clue, just guessing.
If you're going to run it on the mvp use 29 or 30 gauge. Anything thicker doesn't heat up fast enough at 11W
You may have overfilled it a tad. In that case you won't have to do the primer puffs once you've vaped a little more liquid.
