Thanksgiving story contest ends 11/23/13

He quickly realized that it was a crock to say his daughter was forever young because they turned her into a painting. He looked at the rabbit with steeled eyes and told him "You and I are going to find away to get my daughter back. Since you know this crazy land you tell me how to begin" He tapped his foot as he waited for the rabbits reply...............

Knowing his daughter would be forever young brought him happiness and sorrow at the same time...he didn't kno wether to thank the fancy rabbit or strike him out of anger!..

Fighting his desire to tie the rabbits ears in a knot Gregory Points at the pictures and says "My daughter has been missing for over 50 years; in this picture she is still a young child, as she was when she first disappeared, so please Mr Rabbit, take me to her so we can see how she is today"......

Just then, he thought he caught the painting of his daughter wink at him. "Huh?" he thought, "I must be seeing things". Then he felt himself melting. "Oh no. I'm going to become a picture too!"

But as he looked in the mirror, Gregory realized that the miraculous healing powers of the spring water had already taken 50 yrs. off of his age.... and he was a young man of 36 once again!!

Wanting to get his land legs back, he begged the rabbit to take him to where his daughter was. How wonderful that they should be reunited for Thanksgiving!!

So up, up, up they swam... and when they finally landed back on the shore, he noticed that he was on the opposite side of the spring from where he had first fallen in.

There, off in the distance was a....

Carriage. A team of horses pawed the ground as attendants waved to Gregory and the rabbit to hurry. Even more distant, Gregory saw a cloud of dust and within the cloud, Riders on steeds rushing towards the carriage. The rabbit grabbed Gregory's shirt, pulling him towards the carriage "Hurry, there is no time to waste we must be gone before .................................."

the sun sets. You know what happens, the thing turns into a pumpkin or is it a cabbage. Oh heck, I don't remember, fact is, we must hurry, so the jumped in and rushed down the road. Soon, though they were approached by a band of thieves and before you could say Jack Rabbit.....

They bolted into the carriage. The driver yanked on the reins and the carriage was heading wildly down the road, the bandits following rapidly. The rabbit leaned out the carriage window and yelled up to the driver "....................................."

"Can't this thing go any faster? ? Turn on the jets! We're taking this chase to the skies! " at this point Gregory wasn't shocked by a thing! He already realized nothing was even close to what it seems! So without hesitaton he yelled " yeah, get this baby off the ground! "....

Gregory thought to himself "sheeesh all this bad dream needs now is flying monkeys" before he could think more piercing screeches broke his thoughts. He looked out to the carriage window to see a horde of screaming, flying.... squirrels headed towards them. He sighed, nudged the rabbit and pointed out the window "Time to pull another magic trick out of the hat of yours my finely dressed and rather furry friend"

But wait!! They weren't flying squirrels at all, but that same flock of BB gun toting Wild Turkeys that Gregory had encountered earlier!!!

So the rabbit quickly...

leaned out the window and shouted "Thanksgiving is coming". The turkeys panicked, dropped their BB guns, and flew off to the nearest mountain to hide. Gregory clapped the rabbit on the back shouting "jolly good job hare, now get me to my daughter" ........

The rabbit had the look of deep thought, and the situation was getting out of hand - to the point where he was not positive that the rabbit had the best intentions anymore........

"You are still taking me to my daughter right? " Gregory asked nervously. That's when the real bad news came..."yes I'll take u to her just as promised" said the rabbit. "But there's one part of the journey we haven't yet discussed. ..

"You know the saying..." the rabbit said. "No one rides for free". "This isn't your average, 'take me to my daughter who has been frozen in time' somewhere journey in a carriage riding through the clouds."

Gregory glared at the rabbit, "I am really getting tired of all this mystery, just tell me what we need to do to get to my daughter, or at least tell the driver to goleft or right before we smack into that mountain peak dead ahead"

"That's the part I wanted to tell you! We gotta crash into the mountain to get where we're going!" Said the Rabbit. Gregory was almost speechless. .."crash?!? But why??"...
