Thanksgiving story contest ends 11/23/13

After feasting on waffles smothered in some kind of honey/blueberry/chocolate syrup and strong tea the two felt refreshed and ready to continue. They looked at the map and noticed a small image of a man and a rabbit sitting in an Inn. The rabbit got up and ran around the Inn; the man watched as the small rabbit image did the same. They asked the inn keeper if she had any advice about where they should head to. She consulted the map and pointed to a spot labeled labeled "Ye old wishing well". The pair thanked her and off they went.

As they were walking they had the feeling that they were being watched or even followed.....

Before Gregory began to worry about being followed he wondered why only his and the rabbits images showed up on the map...

Maybe there is a way to show other people on the map as well. He thought.

So he began thinking,"maybe a little water, maybe hold it close to a light source, or maybe try to even speak to the map in this crazy wonder world......

But none of those worked! Gregory supposed the wishing well might just be the best bet...

They continued on to the well; along the way the rabbit stopped at a store and bought a looking glass. Gregory asked what it was for, the rabbit replied "I don't know yet but you can never have to many looking glasses" He put it in his coat with about a dozen more and they continued on their way.......

they could see the well in the distance! Everything was looking up! Until....a mystical gremlin popped out of nowhere! "Before you get to the well, you must answer me these questions three! question the first! ....then asked....

"eulb, next question please" Said Gregory

The rabbit looked at the gremlin with disgust. He reached into his coat, pulled out a looking glass, and held it up to the gremlin. The gremlin "eeeeked" loudly and was pulled into the looking glass. The rabbit smiled up to Gregory saying "told you these things come in handy". Quickly they continued on towards the well...................

Way to help us void that whole three question thing rabbit! I didn't really think I was in the mood for trivia" said Gregory. As they approached the well they could literally sense the magic it held within it. They reAched the base where they found a plaque. It read, " if something you lost needs to be found, toss in a coin and say it aloud."......

Gregory checked his pockets for coins, pulled out some lint and had apuzzled look on his face......then he remembered.....

That the rabbit always had everything. He looked down and there was the rabbit holding up a shiny gold coin. Gregory took it from him and gave it a flip into the air, as it flipped end over end heading into the dark well he said to the well "......................................................

"I lost my daughter. ..Alice!"...just then a mysterious cloud pooofed up out of thin air! Surrounding both the rabbit and Gregory. A vision slowly started to appear in front of them...they could make out a golden Turkey!..and just beyond a girl!...then it all made sense! The way to Turkey was. ....

through the map! Gregory now knew he had to walk to the center of town and when at that point he had to enter the map to get to his daughter. He didn't know how to enter the map but figured one step at a time was a good plan. He and the rabbit consulted the map, saw their images standing next to the well. They found a road that went straight to the center of town. The map showed it right in front of them and it was labeled "The yellow brick road", so off they went.

They walked and walked as they watched the tiny image versions of themselves move across the map. Then...they arrived! The center of the map, the center of the town....

And there they stood. Gregory held the map out and looked at the rabbit, the rabbit shrugged. Neither had a clue how they were going to get into the map. The rabbit poked at it but the map just bent. The both stood there pondering the problem until .............................

They felt the force of suction coming from the map itself, it was light at first just riffling their hair, and then it slowly began picking up force as the skin on gregorys face began rippling from the sucking force emanating from the map.They looked at each other ,puzzled, as their hearts began racing when they realized that the maps power was finally...........

active. Gregory closed his eyes tightly as he felt himself being sucked into the map. When he opened them he saw that he was still in the town square but a closer look showed him that everything looked like it was made out of paper. "We made it into the map Mister Hare, I hope this works out well" The he heard a goobling sound and saw the Golden Turkey walking in from the alley. Behind the turkey walked a young girl; Gregory shouted out :"Alice ?" ..............

and began to run towards her...................

When they got close, Alice jumped up into her daddy's arms and hugged him as tight as she could until her arms hurt. The rabbit wiped a happy tear from his eye as he wondered how to get the reunited pair home..........
