I just vape for like 10 minutes straight in the AM. I'll draw like 3-4 draws at once and hold it in then I notice the crave goes away. Hope this helps

I do sort of the same thing. I have my PV on the night stand and when I first wake up I grab it and vape for a few minutes.

I found not stressing out about it helped the most :)

I ABSOLUTELY agree with this. I am currently down to one or two at the most cigarettes a day, and the first is the obligatory first smoke in the morning. I really don't know why but I just accept the fact that this is how it is for now.

I used to sweat it if I did not have a couple of packs of cigs available for fear that I would run out. But now I go through less than a pack a week...and I'm thrilled about that. After that first smoke in the morning I keep the pack right in front of me all day and I'm not even tempted to grab one while I vape away.

So does that one (or two) cigarette that I still grab each day bother me? Heck NO. After one month of vaping I've cut out more than 95% of the real cigs. And as I continue I can easily see myself getting rid of them completely.

In my opinion... Anything a cigarette can do, a PV can do better. The only difference is with cigarettes, they make it easy for you. They pack them with extra nicotine and chemicals that make the nicotine enter your bloodstream faster and all of that. With vaping, you can get the same rush, the same feeling, the same satisfaction, the same throat hit, the same plume, except with vaping, you can do even BETTER in most cases. I don't personally understand why people continue to smoke when they've begun vaping. To me, the day I quit smoking and start vaping, after 4-5 hours of vaping, you try a cigarette and it tastes like burning dry leaves and smoke and sharp stinging weirdness.

Everything that cigarette gave you, a PV can give you more of. If you want that great satisfying feeling in the morning, then buy a bottle of 24mg juice and use it in an atomizer in the morning. (or keep a special carto or tank for it) Alternatively, you can buy a bottle of 24mg juice and keep it by your bedside and add it to your lower mg juice in an atty in the morning. Its that simple for me. I vape 12mg juice regularly, and if I need that extra nicotine, I either use higher mg juice or add high mg PG to my juice in an atomizer or whatever. I mean, with vaping, you adapt. You adapt and make better. As long as your up to date on all the best supplies and as long as you've got a good, reliable set up or device, vaping can (and is) more satisfying than smoking.

So that is what I do. I use the method where I keep a bottle of 18mg flavorless PG for those occasions where I need more. I rarely feel I need more nicotine though because personally, I don't really like buzzing anymore. Instead, I like when the nicotine sort-of wakes me up. I like the energy it can give me, but I don't like when it raises my heartrate or my blood pressure or my anxiety or any of that. So I like my 12mg and I rarely have to up my dose. I mean, I would just vape more with longer sessions. If I'm working mornings, thats when I like to add the higher mg flavorless to my juice 1st thing in the AM. Helps me get going for work.

With vaping we have every flavor we could imagine or ask for. We have every accessory that we could ask for. We have every style of PV that would satisfy what we are looking for. We have so much catered to us. I don't like cigarettes anymore and I'd rather vape 100%.

I should add that I have experience in going BACK to cigarettes. I'm on my 3rd "try" with vaping.... And what happens, in my experience, is that if your still smoking 2-3 cigarettes a day.. then that taste hasn't left your body. so your still OK with it.. and if your vaping supplies aren't updated to the point where your 100% happy, or if your waiting for new cartomizers in the mail and the only cartos you have are getting really gunked up and old and clogged, and your still smoking those 2-3 a day... then there is nothing to stop you from saying "ohhh I'll smoke one more" and then "ugh I've already smoked 4 I'll have another" and before you know it, you say "oh forget that package! these cartomizers stink! I'll smoke till it gets here!" and BOOM, your back to smoking and you may never go back to vaping when that package does arrive. This is why I firmly believe switching cold turkey is much better than continuing to smoke. And I also believe (in my own experience, YMMV) vaping is better anyway. As long as you keep up with your supplies, vaping is 10x better than smoking ever was or could ever hope to be.

What are you vaping with? When I first started 3 years ago I used a Joye 510 with 24mg juice.. Just could not get enough out of it so I had that morning cig.. Once I got a mod and some 36mg I was finally able to get enough nic to satisfy the morning craving...
I curenntly use a Provari with a HH357 3.0 ohm atty with 30 mg unflavored 100% VG..... Hits like a champ and will give you all the nicotine you crave with tons of vapor...

I envie those who could pic up the pv and never touch another analog again. I still struggle, fall, get back up and try all over again. I finally took the advice from the members here. I just don't worry about the ones I do burn up. I'm proud of the ones that I didn't. I've got my daily allowence and have been satisified staying with that. After 45 years and getting up to 50-60 cigarettes a day, I'm proud that I've dropped down to the 5-10 that I'm allowed. Another posted earllier "Just don't stress out about it" That's the worst thing you can do. Be happy with what you've achieved and continue on till you get to the point we're all after. NONE!!! Good luck.

I have struggled as well with the morning cig. I thought I would never be able to do away with that one. I first tried vaping back in October, but found myself buying packs here and there (I blame it on the V2 cigs I started out with). I finally made a decision to stop all together (last cig on 11/8) and I'm not looking back. What has helped me a lot is upping the nic in my juices. I'm at 24mg and I don't even think about cigs that much, even in the morning.

Unfortunately for us X smokers, nicotine (especially from cigarettes) is one of the most adictive habits ever. The initial "rush" from a typical cigarette goes right to the brain and nicotine receptors, where vaping as I understand it takes awhile to bond to those same receptors. Heavy vaping first thing in the AM seems to be the only solution, or as some have said raising the nic level may help. It appears this phenomenon of AM craving is universal to regular and X smokers alike. In the past, I have actually quit smoking for periods of up to 6 months, but I am sorry to say the craving never seems to go away completely, so vaping seems to be the best alternative for now. Good luck on cutting down to zero.

It took me a couple of months to be done after 35yrs. The morning one was the hardest to put down. It sure helped getting to a non-finicky PV set-up also.

I simply allowed myself to light that first one up- take a couple drags, pick up my PV. Always ended up putting the cig out.

After a couple of weeks, that first one started to taste horrible, and I couldn't stand the stink. It was all a mind game, didn't have anything to do with nic levels or powerful vaping PV's.

Like others have said, don't stress it. Prepping a slightly stronger juice the night before, for the morning, might help.

For me, I just picked up my PV in the morning when I started the coffee maker. It does take a bit longer for the nicotine to hit. I adjusted fairly quickly, but it's different for everyone. Also, you do not actually have to entirely stop smoking, let alone entirely stop smoking on some arbitrary schedule.

I was a bit backwards it was my one at night right before bed that was the hardest for me, the first cig in the morning was easy for me to replace with a pv I just put an ego with a tank with 24mg juice on the edge of the bathroom sink. When I wake up the first place I stumble to is the bathroom, it was right there I pick it up in my half awake haze, by the time I got to where my analogs were the nic had already hit my brain and I didn't need it. I also set my self a safety blanket, there is an unopend pack of smokes in my freezer (where I always kept unopen analogs) and a pack of unopend smokes in my desk at work. It is helping me by know I am making a conscious decision to be smoke free, I could go back to analogs if I wanted no one is making me do this the cigarettes are right there. I am using motivation the wife is going to get me a provari when I am 6 mo analog free. I really want a provari so that is keeping me going, I pick something that I can reward my self with and use it to hit my milestones. The craving never completely goes away but it dose get very negligible. Also something that has helped (probably not the healthiest) is at work I go down with the smokers, after about a week off of analogs the smell of smoke is horrible. So I now have that smell associated with smoking... Last time I was craving I opened the freezer and though about the smell and it churned my stomach. I guess it is kind of like Pavlovian training.

as you can see, everyone has their own method. and they are all perfect, there is no wrong method!

some can't have any cigs around, some (like me) seemed to do better if they keep cigs around, some stop right away, some take a little time to stop completely and some (like me) change the habit from 50+ a day to 1 or 2 (or 5 or 10) a day, some up their nic, some get bigger devices, and some (like me) still like to use the little cig-like joye 510s with low nic liquids.

each of us has to find their own way!
but, I do think not stressing out about it is a good hint/idea for everyone!
good luck to all of us :)

First, congratulations on a major hurdle!
For what it's worth, for those times when I would typically "have to have" an analog before (first thing in the morning, after meals, etc.) I use a juice that I love and that has a certain "analog quality" to it... And I tend to direct-drip that on a good atty.
I think the key to kicking the desire for a "real" cig is to find a juice you really like -- one that you'd gladly pass up an analog for. To me at least, that flavor I can't put down does more to alleviate my craving than extra nicotine would. At first, I was using a WTA juice to kick that craving, but I've gotten to a point where I don't feel like I need that extra "kick" from the WTA.

Wow! Such a lot of responses! I've gotta admit, I had three today. Two in the morning and one about 20 minutes ago, purely because I wanted one. That said, I had coffee with a friend earlier and usually we would smoke a hell of a lot but I stuck with my PV and it was all good! It's becoming a game to try not to have one...I have an app on my phone that counts the time in between analogues and that's really handy. I think next pay day I'm going to buy some even stronger nicotine. If I'm on 18mg during the day, I think the 24mg for the AMs might be a good way to go. Until then, I'll keep trying to avoid the analogues as best as I can. Thank you all for your help!x

Yeah and you can always mix the 24 with the 18 to find a sweet spot if the 24 seems too strong in the AM. Thats why I recommended the flavorless 24mg, but that part is up to you. Just hope you stop smoking those cigarettes in the next month or so because (Your not me, I know, but...) I know that my continuing to smoke 1 or 2 every other day is what got me to go back to smoking twice now. that is why I'm not going to smoke any anymore. not unless I'm drunk or I want a cigar.
