Hey guys, I want to share some further experiences with the Aspire, specifically the Viva Nova version, and the things that have given me a better or worse result from the vape.
On my initial review, I did rate the Aspire pretty badly. Some positive points where that the device did not seem to give any burnt hits, that I did not personally experience any major problems with the connectivity, and that the vapor is probably the most impressive out of any pre-built tank device. Some negatives were that, no matter which juices I tried, that the Aspire heads continuously gave me bizarre tastes, sometimes oily, sometimes salty, sometimes fishy, and at the very least, very wicky, and that the heads did cause the tank to leak onto the battery pretty randomly, always requiring the need for a protector.
Out of all the devices I have tried, I keep coming back to the Aspire because, for all the taste faults, the flavor is still more tolerable than any results I've gotten out of other pre-builds. So I'm giving it a lot more testing and time than other devices.
As of right now, the one thing that has allowed me to continue vaping it, is that I discovered that inhaling a lot stronger - to the point that the wick doesn't sizzle - allows me to at least get a "sweet" vape out of the device. Now, the problem is that I do not believe this "fixes" what is causing the wicky flavors. If I inhale even slightly lesser, and allow the vapor to saturate on my taste buds like I really enjoy, I taste quite a strong flavor of ever-so-slightly singed wicking material, a bit like if I was sticking my tongue to wall-insulation, or igniting wall-insulation just by a little bit. Inhaling stronger allows this flavor to disperse and not saturate my tongue so much, resulting in a sweeter, tolerable vape, but my biggest worry is that whatever may be causing this flavor could be something that ultimately is unhealthy.
Now, the positive I have found out with continuing to test the Aspire is that, all morning, I have gradually leaned toward downright chain-vaping the thing, and the flavor is even possibly getting better the more I vape. I have been vaping on it for a long time - the head was even one that had been previously tested and then soaked in distilled water - but the fact is, it simply refuses to completely "burn out" and taste worse than it really did right out of the box. I have been putting the device down every now and then, letting it get a good soak, but during a session, the device is giving me a quite a bit of trust and I've been going chainsaw with it, with no obvious decrease in what flavor I am able to get - as long as do draw pretty hard.
As of right now, as just something positive to add to my general opinion of the Aspire, I do have to say, the thing seems to wick really well with thinner juices, and doesn't seem to taste "too dry" even with vaping much quicker than I would really think physics would allow. However, the continuous negative is that the Aspire heads, to me, taste downright "wicky" when I partake in a slow, smooth vape that allows me to try and taste the juice I vape, I will get quite a strong sense of this taste. When I inhale slightly harder, the flavor of the juice doesn't improve, but simply the strength of the wicky flavor seems to disperse and seems to allow a sweet vape to come through.
Personally, I would actually enjoy it if Aspire were to make a single-coil head; I have a theory that the top coil simply doesn't wick as well as the bottom one, causing an uneven vape. Another possibility is I would like to know if some of the extra materials in the Aspire heads could be causing this taste for me - it is definately not my juices. Overall though, out of all the devices I've tried, if someone particularly doesn't get the taste I'm tasting, this device just seems to wick really darn well. It's higher on my recommendation list.
