I have been vaping about 7 weeks, and in that time I have come up against one road block after another. vaping has to be made less complex than what I have seen thus far. It is way out of hand and the average smoker(unless he has friends that vape) will never get involved in something that seems to be incredibly complicated. Let me present what has happened to me thus far...if it were not for the fact that I am a neurotic, I would have stopped the first day out of the box.

My first experience was to go online to buy tobacco and saw for 15$ an e-cig. I purchased it to give it a try. It came with very little instructions but I put the three pieces together. I took a few drags on it...there was little vapor and absolutely no th. I went to waste basket and tossed it. Right at this point, the average smoker would end it right there.

I being me was interested even though this first try failed. My second go at it was a a online vendor from china. I spent about a 100 dollars. I purchased 2 batteries not having any idea what to expect. I also purchased pre-filled cartomizers(having no idea what ohms they were) and why would I know such a thing. The came with the usual stuff and I also purchased some juice. The batteries died in 2 weeks, the pe-filled cartos made me sick and the juice was worse. This was the end, I said to myself.

I went on the internet and saw a vapor4life video...I spent another 150 dollars on 2 more batteries(510 batteries) with juice and cartos(again pre-filled and blanks) Again, the 2 batteries die on me in 2 weeks. The pre-filled cartos tasted like vomit(I am serious) and the juice had no taste, and no th. I said this is definitly the end of my vaping experience, but it was not.

I went back online and found GRIMMGREENE...I watch almost every video he had. I said this time I got it. I went out and purchased the volt. I got lucky, one battery worked and the other was very weak. The good one was not giving me any power. Long story short, I sent it back...Also the I watched a few videos by the Grimm on juices. Most made me sick except the Dulsis...First primer puff and I said to myself this is the real deal. I think I was right b/c I have not tasted anything that even comes close.

Now, I need a new e-cig...I see the Grimm do the k-go and I go out and spend another 60 dollars for that plus I spent about 150 on juices, I only liked the dulcis and the rest went in the trash. I purchase blank cartos, ccv 1.7. I put about 15 drops in one, and it was burnt, I tried another and it was burnt...long story short 3 out of 5 are burnt. Send e-mail, talk on the phone with Brent. He sends me 3 cartos, I put about 15 drops in all burnt that is 6 out of 8. I did not realize that I was supposed to put 30 or so drops in. Why should I know that if I am not told. No smoker will go half this far.

The k-go was and is still working great. Now I see all these mods and start hearing about volts and amps and ohms and wattage, (please you are killing me) I say to myself this is so out of hand, noone would go through this.

I want now to do 6volts...thinking I am shortchanging myself out of something better. I spend over a 100 dollars and I purchase the silver bullet. I buy the 18650 battery with the charger, but as you know that is only vaping at 3.7. I purchased this to voly at 6volts(why else would I purchase this) I go out and but the rcr123a protected batteries, then I hear The Grimm mention that they blew up in someone's face(that's nice). I say the hell with it...I stack it and vape, not realizing I am using lr 510 cartos. They all fried.

Meanwhile almost every juice that I am trying seems to get worse and worse...I smoked the most horrible tobacco in the world and never got sick. This juice was literally making me sick. Now I purchase more juice going for more money and I purchase the ressurector from ccv. I dry burn 9 out of 10 cartos, then I find out through Andrew(great guy) that I should put about 70 drops LMAO. how was I supposed to know that...He sent me more and they work great. There is no way in hell that the average smoker is going to go through this. You could take it to the bank...not happening.

I did not finish yet. I go out and buy dual-coil cartos to use on the sb at 6v they are 1.5-1.7 ohms...I put them on the silver bullet at 6volts and nothing...I put a couple of boge 510's it fires up and of course they are burnt and go to the trash. Now, I am being asked to find out what class of batteries these are( people are you getting this) I am not a scientist and nor should I have to be to vape. I go online and see what class batteries are...I'm looking at words like amperes per hour or something like that. I just start laughing...you must be kidding me!

This is where I stand right now...I have no all day vape juice. What I do have, I cannot vape for more than an hour so I go from one carto to another vaping juice I do not really like.( the DULSIS will be ready in 2 weeks) LMAO. I will be smoking again in 2 weeks. Someone somewhere must come into this and simplify this or the millions of smokers out there will never, and I mean never be involved in this. I'm involved because I love the idea and it seems to be alot fun even I am not having a great experience with juices. If you do not have the right juice, it does not how many mods you have, they are all useless without the juice.

This is my opinion and I think it is pretty close to the truth. I have friends that smoke and you tell them about a few details and it's over. They will never get involved. One more thing I purchased 4 attys for about 30 dollars and then realized. Am I going to be in the street and taking a bottle out of my pocket and start dripping. I do not think so. I agree that you get more vapor, th and flavor...I mind as well smoke hash if I am going to do that and I will probably get locked up in New York("wait officer, I am dripping into my atty,) come on people.

Someone, please simplify this stuff! I am tired of writing...good day to one and all.

Wow! Well, your tenacity is admirable. I really hope you get this sorted out soon. Are there no vaping stores in your area where you can walk in and and let them know how interested you are, but that they will get it right or you will be a PITA until they do? I think if I was in your shoes that's what I'd do -- find a human (as opposed to internet) expert who could fix me up right, right now. And then don't leave their store until there is joy all around.

EDIT: Carry all your hardware in, dump it on the counter, and say, "Make it work."

I think I have a valid argument...do not get me wrong. I love doing this and I am very interested. I just do not think the average smoker would deal with all this. All I need is a few juices and I am set. I will most likely be diy'ing it because of my taste buds.

Frankster, I truly feel your pain, I wasn't going to reply but your avatar caught
my eye and then I saw you were from my old stomping grounds (Forest Ave.)

You must admit tho, you jumped in with both hands and feet. I do admit you've
had more than your share of bad luck.

Finding a juice(s) you like is a hard deed. I've tried literally hundreds. I usually
dont like the sweet or fruity types and try every 'tobacco' juice I find. I've
settled down on a few Halo juices and Dekang DK-Tab, but thats just because
my funds are tight at the moment. I'm sure I'll continue my search in the future.
Once you find a juice you sort of like, search for reviews, chances are that
when someone shares your view, you can try whatever else they recommend
with good odds.

I'm still using an Ego battery tho. Tried variable volts and it wasn't my thing.

The e-cig can get as complicated as you want. But it can also be simple.

The juice thing tho, has got to be the first step.

I was thinking the same thing, find a local resource and figure out the hardware and flavors. Frankster, if you were in MN I would invite you over.

I'll add that I think I got lucky with finding a tobacco "like" liquid that worked for me right away. I can sympathize with your struggle since I also purchased some sample packs which at the time, considered gross. I have since tried them again and find that now I might actually like a couple of them.

Regardless, I am throwing some good karma your way.

You got it, the avatar gets me going too...that's why it's there. I watch every video I can on juices, but now I have learnrd my lesson. When I hear a great review on a juice, I want one ml and I will keep a record and when I get 3 great reviews from the same vendor, then I will purchase the juices. Vape on baby!

Point well taken; I tend to agree. I'm a technoid, so this is an adventure for me. But not everyone likes fiddling with things like I do.
Oh, and FWIW, +1 on the DK-TAB.
Good luck! You're due.

Hey FRANKSTER, ...i feel so much like you do with all the effort & money i have spent, trying to learn to vape(alone in the woods) started smoking 40yrs ago so need serious stuff. i have managed so far to get a great PV & good juice but can not seem to get the rest right(cartos, tanks, atty's, etc...) my computer skills are dreadful; everything has to be ordered on line, generally with-out phone#s & to top it all i find is "OUT OF STOCK" not to mention the general confusion of what does go with what!!! So i do know that there are alot of great people on ECF for support, for me typing this problem or this other problem, i feel like a whinny newbe, typing is really a task for me. I know this so far: i prefer to VAPE than smoke so still working towards that goal!!! The Best to You, terry

You got it Terry...I have been smoking 43 years and I have to admit, I loved every moment of smoking...it calmed me down...it went great with my coffee and after meals...God, I would smoke a half a pack when I was sleeping. I feel this is more interesting and fun, but the cost is alot when you start out...that will stop many smokers right away. Every time I hear a great juice review I have to spend 25 dollars to try it. I have no stores where I can get this stuff so the internet is it. It is very when you have friends that vape...you can try many different juices in one sitting...have problems solved right away...etc. I shall never surrender until I make my own juices. I will definitively win out. I have a pack of cigs in the apt. calling every day and I have not answered yet.

I'm sorry your so frustrated. It's hard doing all this online.

Out of 4 people I know that started vaping, two are and two aren't. Why? I honestly have no idea. I wish I had the answer or know what to say to the people I know that gave up.

I have no reason to give up this. I like it. There is plenty of help here...I just need to find my groove.

FRANKSTER it can be as complicated or as easy as you yourself make it.Here's a cant miss way to start it right(and I've got the Provari and ten other PV's).Go to cignot.com get an EGO kit and some RY4 (RY4 will be under other PG).Then go to Gotvapes and get a couple packs of the 2.4 ohm BUD saphire cartomizers. It dont get much easier or better than that.

I actually like the hobby aspect of vaping. I like trying out juices and reading about the various PV varieties out there. I think the ritual aspect of loading up my cartos and taking care of my gear is a good replacement for actually smoking. It makes me feel like I'm doing something active to quit, unlike when I just slapped on a nic patch and thought about lighting up all day long. Now I have juices and cartos and everything else to fill up my smoking thoughts if that makes sense. I also think I lucked out because I really like the first PV model I got. I'm sure there are better ones out there but for right now, it does the trick.

I think it all comes down to the type of person you are. I got an e-cig starter kit for my dad, but I think it's a bit much for him. I've always enjoyed tinkering and gadgets, so I don't mind all the research and maintenance that goes into it. I actually think it adds to the experience for me, but maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment! :p

yea, it can be complicated! I would have quit a long time ago if it weren't for all the great advice I get here in the forums. I also vape mostly unflavored and love it! It's easy to make and dirt cheap :) I've been lucky though, I've liked most of the juices that I've tried. My problem is the juices that I like, don't stay going in the cartos I use (resurrectors from ccv) so I had to come up with juice that I like that won't gunk up my cartos. Unflavored is good AND my cartos are lasting forever!

from what I've read, most people haven't had quite that bad experience that you've had.

I was a 40+ year smoker, too. I started with a V4L kit and prefilled cartos - it was pretty easy, and I found flavors that I liked OK. Then I moved on and started filling blank cartos with juices of my choice. That worked OK, but I got tired of refilling and topping off cartos all the time, or having them go empty at the most inconvenient time. Once I switched to a bottom-feeder mod, life got way easier. My first one was a WetBox, a cheap plastic 14500 device. It worked for a while, was leak-prone, and the switch was flaky, but I was sold on the concept. Then I got a REO Mini and haven't looked back. I've subsequently bought a second REO Mini, and a Grand, and a Woodvil. They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for, and if for some reason you don't like it, they sell quickly in the classifieds. On my main all-day device (the Grand), I fill a new carto with a syringe, and don't have to touch it for a week, when I toss it. Every night I top off the Grand's juice bottle and toss the battery on the charger. Doesn't get much simpler than that. Anyway, it sounds like a bottom-feeder or a carto tank might be right up your alley. Best of luck to you, hope you find the combo that does the trick!

I did it "cold" as well. With some surfing I found this site. Thank GOD :0). I also now use Bottom Feeders (Juice boxes).

Here's a picture of my wood mod.
