I'm another one in the 'wait and see' camp. I've got some Twists and they're ok for now. I really would like to try a VW device but I want to see what comes of the new joyetech and Janty devices as well as the DNA20. At the very least, they seem to promise better interfaces though the performance may or may not be different from the currently available VW devices.

This probably means I'll be waiting a few months by the time they're released and people have time to thoroughly review them. When I first started vaping, I figured I'd be jumping to some deluxe mod right away. I've got an itchy trigger finger, but with so much potential on the horizon, I figured I'd see what other options presented themselves.

I ordered an ego apv (vamo) from health cabin today to replace my bunk siegeli "vmax" That one offers RMS which is more accurate then the vmax offered by health cabin. It gets good reviews and it's less expensive then the vmax. You may also want to order a second batter to charge while vaping the first. If you prefer the vmax go for it though - it's tried and true....

I'm mostly curious about why you decided not to get a VW device, especially since you were looking at one that cost less than the VMax that you decided on.

The charger appears to be a one battery charger. I don't have a VMAX, but I think it takes two 18350 stacked batteries. You may want to pick up a dual battery charger and at least four batts. I'd recommend the Trustfire TR-001 charger, but it seems to be out of stock at HC.

Everything else looks pretty good.

Thanks for all the info kiwi. I think I will go with the VAMO. I can't justify to pay double for the ZMax if there is no difference. Can you please tell me what else I would need with it? Thank you

Hi,
I'd suggest getting 4 batteries: 2 18650 AW IMR, and 2 18350 AW IMR. These sort of mods need IMR which have a safer chemistry and can handle high drain.

. It seems a lot of novices are led to develop unrealistic expectations, saying things like "this VV or VW device gives better vapor", whereas the power source in itself has no effect on the vapor, taste etc. Any regulated adjustable device will do.

I don't think ayone has been saying that it gives "better vapor". It is a lot more convenient and easier to use vw though. This thread is about which is the best vw mod to pick up right now.

The Vmax is not a variable wattage device. If you're looking for the Vamo Health cabin call it the eGo APV:
eGo Variable Volt/Watt APV V2 (Only Body) [D-B4 APV] - $39.00 : Healthcabin Electronic Cigarettes - Wholesale and Retail

I would not use the batteries you have listed. A straight unprotected Li-ion is the last thing I'd want in a mod. You need IMR batteries.
The Vivi Nova will be ok. I'd get some spare 2.4 ohm and 2.8 ohm vivi heads as well.

Just my opinion that Svoemesto & Evolv produce the best two VW Chip sets on the market, if you really want the top notch wait just a little longer and these will be available soon :)

I'd like to see a review comparing what's available. They've been considered the best because there wasn't anything else to compare really. Also - availability, and price. I'm interested to see what comes out, but its not enough to make me wait around. Especially not when prices for mods with those chips may be over $200. Whether they will be the "best vw" devices is a question I'd like to see some reviewers look into. The playing field has changed.

I just ordered the new sigelei z-max from varitube.com and it vapes quite well and thats coming from a provari and a Darwin owner. It features an oled screen that is so easy to read and it has a extra function of either rms or mean voltage regulation. Comes in a lot with 2 18650 batteries, charger, stardust clearomizer, and the unit for $89.95. Which in my opinion isn't bad given its features. I hate to say it but the menu system is easier to read and navigate then my provari. And the pulse width variable wattage is definately a different vape. All in all check it out. Pbsardo does a good review on it

There is no doubt in my military mind that a $600 Svoemesto is better than a $40 Vamo but when I smoked I didn't have to have the most expensive tobacco to get my nicotine. I went for what was the cheapest that I could handle without coughing and gagging! Lol

Life is about compromise.
If you insist on the best, then you don't have to compromise, you simply have to pay for it.
ProVari or Twist are fine for VV.
Vamo, Zmax, or eVic are fine for VW,
but there will certainly be better units come along (all the time).

In the meantime, Relax, Enjoy!
