The "Bombshell" Versus The "Chuck"

I've been the biggest fan of my Chuck since I've had it now for 6 months. I only had a couple of gripes. 1. The switch stuck out too far (and yes I've broke it a couple of times now) 2. It's a hair to narrow (easy to knock over).

Both my gripes are easily fixed with the Bombshell by hotvapes.com. Nice recessed switch, and a little wider, but shorter than the Chuck. Tim at hotvapes also has great customer service. He answers the phone even at midnight. My credit card didn't go through, so I called him at midnight and got his email and sent the money through paypal. The blueberry juice I ordered plus the free samples he sent me, were all top notch American made juice. Way to go Hotvapes!

Now my only gripe is that my wife has commandeered my Bombshell, and I'm still using the Chuck. Oh well, guess I'll save up another 59.00. By the way, did I mention the price was only 59.00, and this thing has a beautiful finish, and gorgeous recessed brass button for the switch? That's 20.00 cheaper than the Chuck. The only thing the Chuck has over the Bombshell is the juice trough at the atty connection. That saves the wet fingers from accidental overages, but I think I will be getting another Bombshell!

Update: My wife is still using the Bombshell, but I had to order another top for it, because the switch quit working. Just out of curiosity, I tore the guts out of the top to see if I could solder a fix. I did manage to fix the old top, but I had to tear everything out. It had a cheap switch in it, and it wouldn't go back together, so I put a switch on it identical to the chuck. I also had to drill the battery connection out and put a new madvapes battery connector on, because it didn't have a place to solder on it. Sooo, she got the new top in, (15.00 not bad) and she's back in love with it. And now we have an extra top for it (although it's like a chuck), just in case the new one breaks.

Not super happy about the switch breaking so quickly, so I've ordered both of us a new Saber Touch from Vapermoon.com. 5 year warranty! Anyway, we'll have the Chuck and the Bombshell for backups in case something breaks down. Everyone needs a backup. Peace!

They break quickly i've read and seen on youtube....guess that's why it's 20 buckeroos cheaper huh?

That's the reason. Cheap switch, and the internal design is not a good, so you can expect switch problems from the Bombshell. Tim at hotvapes is a super great guy though and CS was super. Unfortunately for him, my Chuck wins the competition for it's ease of customer repair. I've had the switch go out on my Chuck as well, but no problem putting a new switch in. Very simple task, and not so easy with the Bombshell.

I've heard some good things about the Buzz VV, but it'll have to wait since I just plopped out the dough for 2 Saber Touches. Not sure if I need a VV, as I really enjoy 3.7 volts. I've tried 5 and 6 volt, but I always come back to 3.7 with about a 2.5 ohm cartomizer. Seems to be the sweet spot for me. Just for fun, when I'm relaxing at the house, I'll throw a LR 1.5 ohm on the chuck for a quick puff or two. What was the deciding factor for you purchasing the Buzz? I noticed another nice VV called the Pro Vari with a digital voltage readout on the mod. Looks pretty sweete.

You never knew you needed VV until you try VV. It opens up the whole world of using any atty any time and having the right voltage going to it, no more "too much" or "too little" - one device, a couple adapters, and the world is your atty.

Put it that way and it makes a lot of sense. You've sold me on the VV. My next mod is definitely going to be a VV. I guess with the VV you have to use stacked batteries to get the higher voltages? On another note, I just got the Saber Touch in, and it's pretty sweet. I've got 3.7 18650's and some RCR123a 3 volt X 2 for the 6 volt part. Everything is super, except for one gripe. My hands aren't really moist enough to set the touch switch off, and I find I am licking my switch finger about every 3 or 4 puffs. Well, at least I don't have to worry about the switch going out, because there really is no switch on it. So, is the Buzz the best VV out or what? I have the 3 volt rcr123a's and the 18650's. Can I use the same batts?

Buzz and Provari are the two big names IMO, but there are plenty of others and I think you can even build your own with parts from notcigs and madvapes if you wanted. The two I've researched here's what I know with whatever slant comes with my personal opinion:

works with whatever you want ................ gets an "e2" error with LR atties (won't fire w/ too much power draw)

takes amex cards................ won't take amex (hey, it matters sometimes)

potentiometer regulates high voltage................ pulse width modulation upscales low voltage

Both notcigs and provape are supposed to have really great customer service

For me it comes down to Buzz for pure no-nonsense functionality and flexibility (no e2 errors), or Provari for sexy and the built in voltage display. Buzz is coming out soon with a "Buzz Pro" that will have a wheel dial for adjusting voltage...that will be my next buy (choosing my next purchase is why I'm fresh up on the difference between the two), but that's me. Hope that helps.

There's also the very expensive very cool Darwin at nhaler.com, but it has 1) no juice well and 2) no user changeable battery, so I won't even think about it without those features.

I really love my Saber! I just got the 3.7/6 volt model. The Saber VV didn't have as long of a warranty, so I was a little worried about the extra circuitry possibly going out. Anyways, after reading some of the posts on this thread, I'll probably try a VV next time. I only have one complaint on the Saber, that I have to lick my finger to activate it. Bout every 3 or 4 puffs. Guess my hands don't stay moist enough for the sensor. It does feel like a solid pv, and I'm using the heck out of it. It's also very sleek, and it's not as narrow as the Chuck so it stands on the end table better. My button callous from using my Chuck for so long is starting to heal up. I just barely have to touch the saber sensor and it vapes away. 4.5 out of 5 stars for the Saber. If Sir Lawrence could get the sensor to activate without me licking my finger, I'd give the entire 5 stars.

Update: I figured out the secret on the Saber Touch. Just use it at 6v and I don't have any trouble with sensitivity on the sensor switch! Don't really know why, but the Saber is great at 6v.

The crap switch is the reason I've stayed clear of the Bombshell. The Silver Bullet is the one I'm goin for when I can afford it! LOL
