This is my water nipple set up. But it's just 2 qt. works for my 2 girls, 12 quail. I do fill am pm.
In the quail grow out pens I use 2 one gallon ones. None of my pens are tall or big enough to hang 2 or 5 gallon buckets.

Thanks for the picture, that helps me lots. I'm looking forward to trying this! Water founts make such a darn mess, I'm always drenching my shoes, socks, and pants legs. I'm a clod.
What I like is I can hang them on a long nail on the side of the pen. It gives them more floor space. Of course you'll need something bigger. Its easy to get them on the nipples anything new in the coop gets their attention. Red draws them to it.

It's going to be fun watching them try to figure out what it is. Most of mine are very curious, but I do have a few complete wimps. And Zulu can't see what's going on, so he just freaks out on things. He'll probably try to beat it up. The Polish gals will spaz and run into stuff when they realize there's something new in their pen.
My eggs are here! My eggs are here!!!! One sent 18, the other sent 14. I'll set them tomorrow night or Saturday morning. 
They caught my eye because they are supposed to be super calm birds. With my spazzy polish, it will be nice to have calm layers. And big meaty cockerels for the freezer will be nice.
