Okay Drott, are they ducks or drakes?

Is the one on the block bigger than the rest? are they all around the same age? Draker is around 10lb my ducks around 6 lb theres quite a difference in size.

nope, they are all the same size. I don't know how old they are, just that she didn't have them yet when she bought my welsh. They are a bit bigger than my cayugas, but not lots. I didn't know if you could tell from their faces. The only one I ever had before was a huge, evil drake.

 

[Drottwiler]

The Drakes get more of the ugly on their face and are another time bigger. I would say they look like ducks. Even when their babies the drakes legs are thicker.

Today they are beautiful, one of them laid an egg!

Did ya notice Muscovy eggs feel like they have a waxy coat on them?

They do. It's kind of tan colored. Mr. V called it the golden egg.

Just finished pinioning them. A little swim and then I'll dry them for bed time.

Today is day 9. So we've got a ways to go yet. They are all Welshies.

16 made it to lockdown. 14 have hatched. One is pipped and one is doing nothing. They hatched last night.

Great hatch. Soooo sweet. Love baby fuzz balls.

We ended up with 15, they are already being little piggies.
