It snuck up on me too. Month 7 of vaping was living H E double toothpick of cravings. Like you it was wanting a CIG then entire experience.

I did something many here on ECF probably would not advocate. I went out and got a cigalike kit. With tobacco flavor. I never vape tobacco flavor. Nic level was 6 times what I normally vape.

When one of THOSE cravings hit I put down my REO and picked up my cigalike and headed out the front door for a "smoke". You know what it worked. About 6 trips outside for my cigalike smoke and the entire thing passed without me picking up a real cig.

I am back in the groove of normal vaping and one happy old lady.

_Lee,

Many of us have been there. You read a lot of stories about "Got my e-cig on XXXX date and never looked back". Well, there's just as many stories about "Got my e-cig and still craved for weeks". They seldom get posted that way. I think it's kind of assumed. So I was glad to see you post and we can all let you know you are not alone.

You're not slaying a daemon. You're slaying 10,000 daemons all at once. That's not insurmountable. It can be done. Like was pointed about above by several wise posters, tobacco smoke contains a lot of stuff. Then there's the habit. The form factor.

It helped me to get a bit mad at tobacco. Realize that it's a nasty plant that addicts people. Like alcohol and caffeine, it has legal drugs that can be problematic...IS problematic for most. And the products of combustion are real nasty for your health and smelly too.

I don't wish to give any more money to the tobacco companies...they got enough from me already. Same for Uncle Sam and his taxes that didn't help smokers.

Give yourself time to adjust. 10,000 chemicals are a lot to get over. Resist as best you can. It will happen with continued vaping. My favorite stories here are the people that wake up one day and realize that yesterday they forgot to smoke. lol.

Best wishes!

Your in the right place - this is this best support site I have found. Reading people's stories on ECF has kept me off the stinkies - It's my AA meeting for cigarettes.

I think quite a few of us have had moments when that stupid thought crosses our minds - or outrageous stress triggers our brain to think a cigarette will "help". I suspect with all the crazy ingredients that are in cigarettes, those ingredients combined produced some toxic junk that was more numbing than any street drug - or it was years of conditioning brought on by our habit.

For me, it helps to "tinker" - diy e-liquid, building my own coils, buying new devices...reading this forum every day has kept me quit.

Good luck to you, demon slayer - don't give up. Look at all these people fighting with you - you can't lose.

What i did was think of everything negative about cigs when i was craving one. I would write down all the negatives like ashes being nasty. The nicotine stains on my teeth, and fingers because i chain smoked. The burn holes in clothes from hot ashes.Of course i was vaping during all this and getting nicotine :)

Well you can get the picture and it isn't a pretty one. That is how i stopped craving and after a few months my thoughts were replaced from longing to loathing the thought of smoking.

Everyone has a different way how they react towards craving a cig and indeed a portion of people never crave at all.

Thanks for deleting that classwife I had a bad night last night. Sorry Lee, good luck with the fight I'm sure you'll get through it and come out the other side all the better.

I really appreciate that, SS. Very big of you to say that. Thank you. Maybe we were both having a not-so-great day. Hopefully today will be better for both of us!

I really am, and continue to be amazed at the support here. it is nice to see I'm not the only one having those "pull my hair out by the handful" experience. I guess seeing all the positive posts from people having an easy time was a little disheartening. I felt a little alone and wondered why it was so difficult for me. I definitely do not feel that way now! Thank you all for the advice and tips. I hope this is helpful to someone else in the same place I have been lately.

My VV V3 and EVOD tank are tasting exceptionally good this morning. =)

I'm not going to say that things will be the same with you as they have been for me because we are two completely different people.
That said when I was at about the same time from my last cig as you are the cravings hit hard and almost constant, I felt as if that was the only thing that would save me. BUT I hung on, mostly because I had this banner sitting down below and I had people in my home forum who had made it past this and I didn't want to have to tell them that I gave in. After a week or so of that, and close to my three month mark the cravings changed and were more wanting to vape than smoke. Since I passed the three month mark I have had very few cravings and even those were fleeting, and now I can honestly say the only cravings I have are to vape.

What I am saying is that the time frame may be different for you but one day you will stop wanting a cig so badly and I think it will be sooner than you think right now. :)

Hang in there this too shall pass.

Hi Lee!
I get what you mean....I smoked for 40 years and early in my vaping journey I would have cravings, but it was weird...it wasn't for a ciggy but I wanted more "punch" from my pv.
I have been vaping since end of April 2012 and have been vaping between 18 and 24 mg but this next order I am going to get some 36mg and dilute it down with DIY for that little extra when I get the nicoheebie - jeebies.
BTW, I loved your characterization of The Demon...it was right on :)

For me changing over to vaping was a struggle. I decided to invest every single cent I would have spent on stinkies back into vaping.
I bought the best gear I could.
I tried WTA and different nic strengths.
I forced myself to hate analogs and all their 1000's of ugly chemicals.
I played around with DIY.
I bought as many atomizers as I could afford. Looking for the right "draw".
Tobacco flavored juice or as far from it as I could get.

When all is said and done, I have not had one single Devil Stick in what seems like forever to me. I feel better than I have in decades!
I keep different nic strengths around and set up and ready to go for those harder to please days but to me, DS's are no longer an option.
I will NOT fail. I will not allow it. I am stronger than [insert your chosen words here].

We all have our days when it seems we are climbing a mountain. Hang tough. Tomorrow you will look back and your mountain will look like a molehill.
Best of luck to you and vape on! :vapor:
