After Xrays, my dentist THINKS I have an infection in my gums.
Another alternative is a root canal on a molar, root looks fine, but could be in the process of going bad so it's not visible yet.
Yet another option is a wisdom tooth. It's the only remaining one and it too looked okay in the Xray. He said there might be a cavity or it might be trying to finally come through. Ugh.
The latter two are bad options since I'll have to go to an Oral Surgeon.

I'm taking antibiotics to get rid of the infection. And, at least at night, a pill to kill the pain because believe me, even if this is just an infection, it hurts just as bad as a toothache.
I'm just taking the pain meds from the doctor at night because I hate being groggy. Ibuprofen helps during the day, but here is the kicker.
You have read threads on how vaping seems to make people's mouths or teeth hurt. Well, in my case, vaping actually helps take the pain away, and I mean in a big way.

After two days I discovered this because I quit vaping because I didn't want to agitate anything. This morning, I gave in and decided to vape while I had my Xs---one of those most enjoyable times of the day.
Since then, I've been vaping like mad because, as I said, it lessons the pain.

I'll update if my condition worsen tomorrow.

I had my widsom tooth get infected and it needed a route canal. I deceided to just have it pulled. Stayed on antibiotics for one week and then had it pulled. I had to have stiches. This hurt really bad. I don't know how much you have to pay for a route canal in your area but the last one I had was 1200.00 and that did not include the crown. That tooth had aready been crowned and they used the same one.

How much does it cost you to have a route canal and then a crown.

Steph, I've actually used Naproxen because of the sciatic nerve---stuff does work great.

Martha, I don't know. I've never had a root canal on a molar or a crown. The cost, along with the pain involved, has got me a little worried.

If you ask me the cost of medical treatment has gotten a little more than ridicules.

Just as an example, years ago I had three wisdom teeth pulled. Not all at once though. I called the dentist, went in, he pulled them, paid anywhere from $30 to $50, and I went home.
Now I have to see my dentist, do a pre-visit with an oral surgeon, and then the tooth can be pulled.

My son did this and the oral surgeon wanted to put him the hospital to have all four removed and at the cheap cost of $15,000.

As explained, I'm just taking Ibuprofen during the day and the mega pain killer at night for a gum infection. This thing came on in about a day and caused swelling in the jaw. I found out yesterday that vaping actually reduced the pain so I vaped a lot just to see what the outcome would be today.
Last night, about eleven, I took a mega pain killer. I woke once during the night to potty and took some Ibuprofen because, even though it was time for more pain killer, it wasn't that bad.
This morning, I was sore. Worse than yesterday, but yesterday, I felt better and did more chewing, vaping, and talking. If anyone has had a sore jaw, you know all three activities will aggravate it. Also, it was the first time I only took one pain killer to get through the night.
Even though I'm not doing as well as yesterday, I think the swelling is down so vaping didn't stop the antibiotics from making headway.
I'm being a little more cautious today and not vaping as much because I do use 30% PG in my mix and it is known to irritate.
But, still, when I do vape, it helps.

I got enough antibiotics to get me to Thursday and hopefully this thing is gone and doesn't come back.
As for the advice, if it does return, I'll probably just have it pulled--probably see if they will dig down and get the wisdom tooth too.

Got RW checking out the HV to make sure they are working right---little suction involved so I can vape with holes in my mouth.:shock:

I can yawn!!!!

You'd really understand how big of an event this is if you knew just how much it hurt and how I couldn't open my mouth near far enough to do it.

As for vaping. It continued to make it feel better but I was also aware of how PG/VG is a drying agent. I kept it at a minimum. This all started because I had a tooth filled and something was left there that kept irritating the gum. Or maybe vaping did while it was sore. Anyway, I'm pretty sure that the pain people feel when they first start vaping is gum pain and not tooth pain. It just pretty much feels the same so it's hard to tell.

Then again, I could be wrong altogether and I have a tooth problem. Since I'm just about out of antibiotics, the truth will be known soon.
