This is great, but probably pretty old. Do we know when it was aired?

Before the FDA opened their lying mouths and spoiled everything.

This type of news was typical of the e-cigs prior to the FDA spreading mistruth and distorted facts. It was pretty pro e0cig at the time.

Screw what the FDA has to say. I don't trust them. Not at all.

I think if we can get more stuff like to this air the better. The FDA is corrupt! The American people should be aware of this. I am from Louisiana where it is KNOWN our politicians were corrupt, why is it taking so long for us to realize the FDA is no better.

yep, louisiana is second only to chicago in corruption.

This show was the beginning of the masses finding out about the ecig. Up until this point, the ecig (and ECF) were in a quiet little world.

In January, when this aired... holy lord! That's when it all started to happen :)

The FDA started to notice... Customs started to notice... Smokers started to notice.

Oh Sun!!! Can you believe it's been almost 10 full months!?! Doesn't it kind of feel like 10 years?

Sure does feel like 10 years ago Lacey. Those where the good old days. Talking about the e-cig instead of worrying about it. I hope we return to some kind of stable enviorment soon and know where we stand.

You know it is one think to keep these e-cigs up and running while at the same time now have to be concerned that we will be able to get supplies. I really wish they would have left us alone.

Sun

I think we will (have a stable environment). There is already a shift occurring in philosophy outside of this very forum. I have noticed it with ALF, the FDA, and another one or two possibly. IMHO, I don't think we will see a ruling from the judge for a bit, but that's ok... (stressful, but ok)

However, that said, did you see the Detroit Free Press article today http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/eca/25368-eca-news.html#post613250 (post #17) with a quote from an FDA official that there are currently no import bans on the ecig? Yes. This is also the same official who was quoted the other day as basically saying the FDA knows what happens with tobacco smoking, but they don't know what happens with the ecig, so smoke tobacco. The Rest of the Story: Tobacco News Analysis and Commentary: FDA Quoted as Stating that It's Not Sure Cigarette Smoking is Any More Dangerous than the Use of Electronic Cigarettes (I post Dr. Siegel's because he has a great synopsis and link to another article which actually goes to the original article... I know... wow)

It's still sunny my friend and the vaping party at my house is still not even in the planning stages yet ;)

Sun -

HA! That's crazy! I have never heard that term used before... so apparently... a search was needed. The FDA comes up and uses this term quite often.
FDA Guidance Documents: General and Cross-Cutting Topics

Then I found this: Draft Definition, Prioritization Criteria, and Strategic Framework for Public Comment

The Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER)
"CER investments and activities can be grouped into four major categories:

* Research, e.g., comparing medicines for a specific condition or discharge process A to discharge process B for readmissions
* Human and Scientific Capital, e.g., training new researchers to conduct CER, developing CER methodology
* CER Data Infrastructure, e.g., developing a distributed practice-based data network, linked longitudinal administrative or EHR databases, or patient registries
* Translation and Adoption of CER, e.g., building tools and methods to translate CER into practice and measure results

Furthermore, investments or activities related to a specific theme can cut across these categories. The themes are cross-cutting since they may include research, human and scientific capital, CER data infrastructure, and/or translation/adoption. These themes could include:

* Conditions, e.g., cancer
* Patient populations, e.g., the elderly, minorities, children, persons with disabilities
* Type of intervention, e.g., devices, behavioral change, delivery system"

Hmph. That's interesting. I think we learned something new today :)

Sorry for the second post but...

And it appears based on that first link FDA Guidance Documents: General and Cross-Cutting Topics most, if not all of the topics they have listed seem to be things that are relatively new, without regulation, or suggestions on what the FDA believes is the appropriate way to continue forward. So... at first glance, this new "categorization" might be a "softening"?!? I see a lot of the words "preventative" "suggested" "voluntary".

I looked up the FDA Spokesperson quoted in the St. Louis story. ("We don't know if this is any better for them.")

She quite possibly is not a scientist. She is a Press Officer for.... are you ready for this???
