Your comment on the gogos got me looking a little closer at the Echos. Have a couple of retired Echo-E cartos and screwed an old battery on and wiggled it back a forth until it came loose and pulled out of the shell. Appears the only difference between them and the 901 threaded units is the working parts are just pushed in further. Will try to figure out what I can thread to the 901 connection that will give me some leverage to be able to pull one of them apart.

The first step will probably be to place the carto on a firm wood surface, use a small socket just smaller than the shell and tap the working parts in further with a hammer to break the seal then pull it out with some threaded device. If I have any success I'll post the results.

Unfortunately my efforts were a total failure. On the Echo-E the slotted ring on the battery end is glued in and easily removed. Had hoped the slotted vent ring on the regular Echo was separate, not so. When I tapped the working parts further into the shell I found the vent ring was part of it and a little larger than the tube. The consequence was that it wedged in the shell with no reasonable way of getting it out.

My next effort will be to cut the shell 3/16" in from the threaded end to get things out, cleaned and re-inserted into a somewhat shorter Echo shell.

FWIW the DC Echo I'm working on has been about 15% of my vaping for the past three months @ 4.6 to 5v and is still working reasonably well. I'm curious as to whether or not a cleaning and dry burn will bring it back to something closer to it's original vape and flavor as some have done with the SC Echos. Inquiring minds want to know. :)

Ok, hello everyone!!!! I have been stalking you all for a month. I am still reading the thread, lol! I am so happy to finally be here.

Now I begin my intro with a question. Just got 2 sets of echos. 3 batts work. One batt lights up, charges, etc. but does not make a cart produce heat not vapor. I hardly have used it, and I juice with the cart off. I tried gently prying the pin upwards. I compared it to the others and it looks the same. I have it threads down. Ideas???

Secondly , thought this would amuse. Just cleaned 2 of my carts that seemed toasty. Keeps tamping... No help...my dual coils r on their way... So I washed them with the setup from smoktek. Now I'm drying them with my cpap!!! The nostril hold form
Perfectly around the carts, and the thing is designed to create a steady stre of air for hours at a time... Hahaha! Finally something good comes from sleep apnea!
Nice to finally talk to you guys!

I received a dead echo cart with my kit but I had sent an email immediately after placing the order asking if I could swap one of the extra echo carts I ordered for an echo-e. Instead of swapping, he just added it so it all worked out in the end. And I got something to play with. After dismantling and pulling out the connector, I stuck a pair of needle nose pliers in there and after some work and twirling and prying....and twirling and prying....and cursing and prying, I managed to remove the metal insert entirely. With that part removed, it slips snuggly into the silver band of the echo. Viola! Jumbo cone for my xl clearos. Draw is slightly tighter, but if you have a dead echo and some time to kill, it really looks great!
Now If only I had a tool to poke a hole in the side so airflow could come from the sides instead of from the top opening.

Excellent idea Charlez! I had just figured out how to make my ce2's perfect with no leaking an then found the echo. They are o k on the echo batt, I mean for testing flavors and such but now it could perhaps not look like a weird sucker? Haha but I had been missing my cherry vapes drip tips, specially my stainless one;( I love messing with things and taking them apart!

odd....we all seem to have settled on a pv that is simple and works great without having to fiddle and look at us! I guess we are all tinkerers but would rather not have to tinker to vape, (duh!) just vape while we are tinkering! That's a great rig to dry. Should shorten your dry time by a day!

I don't understand your question. Are you saying a cartomiser produces heat but no vapor or nothing at all? Or are you saying one of the four batteries does not seem to work? Did it ever work?

so, if you suck directly from the battery connector end, it lights up? Weird. Have you tried cleaning the threads? Take a q=tip and dip it in isopropyl or pure grain alcohol and clean the threads. Make sure it is moist but not able to drip. Get into the battery connection between the post and threads with a piece of the cotton and working it around the inside with a toothpick.

I actually use an old soft toothbrush dipped in isopropyl alcohol. (until I can get my mitts on more PGA) I flick the brush a few times to remove access fluid and give the batter connection a good cleaning every couple of days.

Congratulations arthistorygirl, that's the best idea for drying cartos I've seen to date. Suspect you will come up with an adapter to fit a hair dryer next and really speed up the drying process. :)

Well that connector is as clean as can be now. Very clean. I guess the cart isn't getting power from the batt?

It sounds like the battery post needs to come up a little more to me and be sure to try different cartos. If that doesn't work I would see about getting a replacement from your supplier.:2cool:

Tx I've got the post up some. Tried it. Then brought it up a little more. Tried it. How far can it come up before it is officially broken (ie when do u separate the post or is it telescoping?) and how much can u wiggle the post before u break it? And how do u know if it's broken? Maybe that's what is broken in the first place.
U guys know if smoktek is going to be good w cs on this? I've written them twice but of course it is Christmas season and all...

Hi All,

Just received my Echo 1100mAh & 1300mAh "stealth" batteries. I got the 1100 mAh units as a present and thought they were 650 mAh units at first because they were short and much lighter. Identical in size with the Joyetech 900mAh manual battery I had laying around (haven't used those since I got my 1st Echo). Charged it up in 3 hours with the new charging adapter (300mA) and started vaping. With the older model LED, I could light up a room in the dark. I really love the tiny blue light instead of the old LED's. I vaped my dual-coil echomizer constantly for 12.5 hours before the battery signaled that it needed recharging! Excellent performance for it's unobtrusive size. Plus, I enjoyed vaping while watching the new Mission Impossible movie at my local theatre without having to cover the giant LED. After using my Echo for nearly 7 months, I can't think of a more reliable, hassle-free personal vaporizer system.

Unlike a few folks I have never had that burnt taste, or poor battery performance. Since I got the Smok-Tek cleaning kit I've been using my echomizers for months. Although I use Isopropyl Alcohol for a final rinse before drying overnight, I have yet to kill the actual coil(s) on any echomizer. I must be incredibly lucky or Hangsen makes a really good product.

A tip for those who are still thinking of which personal vaporizer rig to start out with: Get an Echo, you won't be sorry!

I'm not sure how much you can raise it being as mine have always worked after raising the post but Rob at Smoktek is very good about making his customers satisfied so I'm sure he will make it right if you don't get it to work.

I've got the rma package in the mail to him. Guess he's got to receive it and check it before he can send a new one out. Different method than what I had been dealing with when I was with v2.... They sent it right out to u immediately with a little padded envelope to send the bad one back. Kinda was nicer that way, as I'm so worried with 3 batts for 2 people. But I've got another starter kit coming from mtn vapor, and a bunch of liquids that are coming with FREE dual coil echo carts. Hope I love their juices, lol. It is an amazing offer.

Ooh not to hog the thread, but!!! I tried the smoktek cleaning kit for the 2 carts I have that we're a little burnt and wow, that syringe is the bomb!! I used some tequila to rinse them, and I showed u guys my drying method above usin my cpap. I can't wait to see I those things work better now that they are cleaned. Did the tamping thing over and over and they kept being burn-y. Ugh. But that cleaning kit it completely and utterly FUN!!!! I totally recommend it, it turned a chore into an enjoyable experience. Plus the syringe is so scary you can chase little kids around with it!!!! I'll update when I try them out... Don't know how long to give them on the cpap method, lol.

Just wanna say that the customer service in this business, mostly, is amazing!!! Rob at. Smoktek is so nice and friendly, the fellow at mtn vapor is great... You can tell these people love what they do. And that makes me want to buy from them more, ya know?

I've got a 650 and some new carts on the way from Tony @ cropduster. I cleaned all my other carts save one DCC. It's been the main one I've been using so it's safe to say I've been using the same cart for 2 weeks straight and now exclusively since Saturday. Every fourth or fifth puff tastes slightly rough- not "dirty" or burnt, but just like its higher in PG than it is and that's only when I chain vape it. It still puts out great vapor. All I have done is cleaned the connectors. My cleaned carts are filled and ready but I may just keep going with this one just to see how long I can get it to go....

I thought I had clogged it but a good cleaning of the connectors with Isopropyl and it draws perfectly again. The only noticable difference is flavor. I'm almost sure I will end my experiment when my new ones come in. I'm going to try to not do much more than test them but I probably wont be able to help myself.

Docliv- I havent heard of the new charging addaptor. Where did you get this? I have always understood that one needs to use the addaptor that comes with them which is verry slow but keeps the batts working a realy long time. Thanks for any info, sounds nice to have.

Mountain vapor has the 300mah USB Charger for ECHO Battery

I am fine using my 1100 all day and charging it overnight.

I have a charger that came with an old kr808 kit that charges at 4.2 volts. The mah is the same as my echo charger. What do you guys think? Would it be ok to use it as a backup? The regular echo charger is 5v but the echo is only 4.2 and that is the same as my old kr battery. Am I confused or missing something important?
