I've been lurking... and reading .... and watching...
I've been a member of the secret smoker club for a few years....

20 minute taking out the trash trips....
the special jacket and sock cap only to be worn when smoking.... even in 103 summers here (i know now insanity)
hiding the butts till i can throw them away....
febreeze.... Hand Washing.... Showers... Brushing teeth... Mouthwash...

I just reread the journey of loustsoulcig and I came clean with hubby about my habit a little over a week ago...

he said "I know, it still smelled"

even after all that work he still knew lol... well we ordered my kr808 and i got it a couple days later...
my work is fine with me vaping in my office ... so i get to sit and work and vape during the day i don't have to hide anymore it's liberating...

thoug hubby didn't know the extent of my habit lol, I really was't hiding anything...

just wondering how many people out there think they are all alone cursing each cig they run out to sneak like i was it was horrid and now I've been smoke free for about a week and I LOOOOVE my 808

someone asked on a diff post i made what my set up was so heres a little more background on it....

first like everyone I had to buy one that day so i went out and our local smoke shop actually carries the envy Nirvana basic starter one batt 2 cartomizers and a usb charger ... just to see if it would work for me you know... I loved it... didn't like the automatic battery though ... its the control freak in me i bet...

well we went home and I had been secretly lurking and researching before all this came out and I decided an KR808d-1 was the best option for me super portable rechargable refillable... everything i wanted... not to mention healthier yadda yadda

Well it tookm a couple days and I got my 808 I really love it... best thing is it fits in my old black hard case for cigs lol 2 batts charger and all the beginning carts i got... so I can tuck it away in my bag and off i go to work for the day... got a mint flavor.. so used it for a couple days ... hubby said he can smell it but it's not bad like cigarette smoke..... he can't say what it smells like ...

My opinion is it better than cigarette smoke hunny.... yes dear... good -vape vape vape-

a friend of mine is being supportive and ordered me somejuice, cartomizers, and some filled some blanks she doesn't want me running out and reverting hahaha

ok so question i got 6 cartomizers with my new 808 and the first few were just brilliant very easy to tell when they get lower because the vapor changes a little which maybe I'm just sensative... but this last cartomizer i put on every so often it leaks juice when i use it very irritating it that normal...

thinking maybe it's just a bad one

it also lasted less time

I've not had a cartomizer leak. Well maybe just a tad if I overfill it. I do clean the battery connection with a qtip each time I change a carto. If the battery gets too much juice on the top it doesn't make a good connection & the vapor goes down.

I tried a bunch of diff ways to clean cartos and it was hit and miss. With the ones that were ok I'd get maybe and extra 2 days tops out of it.

I used to wash my cartos-boiled them in plain water for a few minutes, then removed them from heat and let them sit. When the water cooled I'd rinse them and blow them out as best I could, then let them dry with connection side down on a paper towel laid on the windowsill.

I had decent success and I've never had one just stop working, but in the end I just got tired of doing it. You do have to stick to the same or complimenting flavors of juice-the old stale slightly burnt taste washes out but sometimes you can't completely get rid of the flavor of what's been in it. If you aren't careful about drying them completely, they can get rust on the inside beneath the filler-which you can't see but will definitely taste it (and I can't imagine it being good healthwise). I never tried to clean the same one multiple times.

I figure I pay less than 2 dollars for a carto. I vape it for 10-14 days and then just start a new one. It is worth a buck a week to have a fresh carto and not deal with the mess IMO. I do, however, save a few on hand just in case...I know if I have to clean one because I'm short on money or waiting for an order to come in I can.

Welcome, MidwestMom, and congratulations!!

It is wonderful to have you here and to have heard your story. It's true, no matter how much you try to hide smoking, it is still there.

How great is it that you have a friend nearby that can help you with cartos and liquids and accessories and things?? I had to do it on my own, but I'm glad I stuck it out. Not all cartos and liquids are created equal, so it may take you some time to find exactly what you like and what works best for you. Just remember, no matter what path you take in the vaping world, there is going to be someone here or somewhere else nearby that will be willing to help you and share their knowledge and vaping wisdoms with you!

I love my 808 Volts, and I have only used 808s this go around. My first trip into this realm was back when e-cigs were brand new on the market and were messy and really didn't taste all that good. My, what a difference a few short years can make! I tried four other 808 brands before settling down with my Volts and I'm still here and much happier as well as much healthier! I'm especially proud of you, though, because you're a mom, and I know in your heart you're doing this as much for your family as you are for you. I'm so very, very glad you had the choice.

This was my mom.

Married to a non-smoker in the midwest too! On/off smoker for 15 yrs. They would never say anything but there is no logical reason to disappear outside in the snow and single digit temps for more than 10 seconds. They ALWAYS knew, just were "cool" about it, I guess. Highly recommend the Volt to get started - that's what I got about 2 weeks ago, love it!

Inspiring story MidwestMom: You make me want to tell my story. I'm glad you stopped smoking analogs. It's inspiring for others just starting out who still have reservations on the concept. Vaping is IMHO not an alternative to smoking, but a 21st Century replacement to smoking. It's really life-changing for all the right reasons.

Congrats for making the change, and good luck to you ;)

I do not wash out cartos, I throw them away. Easy to get rust, mold, whatever in the filling in the process. I don't want to vape that stuff.

Remember that you will get to where you don't taste your juice if you vape the same thing all the time. It's good that you have a local friend to help you out in the initial stages ;)
