I was on this thread early on and have now caught up with it - woah! What a story and a huge congrats to lostsoulcig for persevering. One thing I'd like to do is apologize to lostsoulcig for sounding a bit pompous about having to open up to her husband before anything. Worked in my case with my wife, but everyone's situation is different (and in her case, there's past history of hurt and sadness on the part of her husband who has lost so many to analogs) which makes our approaches different. As everyone has stated here, our job is to provide support as a community, not to judge, and to (and I say this with no sense of drama, just the truth) help save lives. Let's be honest, it's all about quitting stickies and living long enough to have a wonderful and long life of arguments with our spouses, isn't it? ;-)

All the best to you lostsoulcig and let us know how you're enjoying that volt! We're rooting for ya!

The thing is Blu E Cigs don't really stink.

In fact, they are the main reason I and many of the other members of this forum are here and have quit smoking.

I still have 4 Blu batteries and I have used them with Boge 2.0 ohm cartomizers and they work quite well that way. You get a nice TH and a nice amount of vapor using those carts along with some decent 24 mg juice.

I am VERY glad Blu continues to be offered at Walgreen's and I believe they play a HUGE roll in recruiting smokers into our ranks.

If anything Walgreen's outta also look into stocking a better PV along with Blu so potential new vapors have a second choice when shopping at Walgreen's.

I have grown tired of folks trashing these mini "first step" E Cigs here at this forum. If it wasn't for 1st step products like Blu and the Mall shops and places like Walgreen's the MAJORITY of folks who are now using Provari's would most likely still be using Marlboro's.

Personally I know I would NOT be here today had it not been for Walgreen's stocking the Blu kits at their check out counters. In fact, Walgreen's along with Blu Cig's most likely extended my lifespan. I would be a ..... to talk poorly of them now.

I too tried the blu disposable at Walgreens but here is my problem with blu. You try it and like it and so you say "the disposable works great, let me get a starter kit". Then you get the starter kit from them and it is not nearly as good as the disposable. The flavor isnt as good, the battery has half the life of the disposable, and the worst is that the disposable is 24mg nic and that's not even available for the kit. So now you have spent $90 on their starter kit and you need twice as many cartos to get the same feeling as the disposable, and they don't sell them to refill or the juice. why, so that you think you have to keep spending $13 on cartos. And you need at least 2-3 to equal a pack of analogs. At that point, you are spending more money than analogs. It's like a bait and switch. To top it off, their customer service is horrible. I called the one day and asked the difference between vg and pg and the cs rep actually told me "I'm not quite sure, but I believe they use pg in antifreeze". Everything they do is misleading. Their batteries don't last nearly as long as they tell you. The cartos don't last as long and since they are not filled all the way and have 100% vg, they clog and burn. This type of behavior will get worse with them now that lorriard owns them because they need to make sure you keep coming back. If people who buy the blu knew they could use other juice and had a place to buy blank cartos, they would be one time customers to blu instead of having to place repeat orders every week.

Every other decent company that sells the "mini" (smokeless image, bloog, vapor 4 life, halo, smoove and a few more) tell you valuable information like: the cartos can be refilled over and over, you can buy blanks and use other juice or theirs, different juices will make your carto clog faster. They sell their products cheaper than blu, and its a better product. Because of that, people continue to buy from them and recommend their products. Honestly, how many people actually recommend the blu product? Maybe the very few that stick with it for more than a couple of weeks. I can't even imagine what their return ratio is. When I returned mine, it took 5 weeks to get my money back, and I still lost $60.

Enough ranting. There is nothing wrong with a mini, it's a great place to start. I agree, there are people on here that say not to get them because they forgot that it is the easiest way to transition. However there are many veterans that say if you want a mini, get one of the good ones. The biggest problem with the mini is that the best mini battery is the kr808 and the larger devices are 510. So when you do transition, you have to buy all new delivery systems. Smokeless image was brilliant in taking the kgo design and making the x2. It is basically a kgo with 808. This keeps their customers loyal while giving the opportunity to use a larger device

Personally, I've never tried them (nor do I care to), but maybe there should be a sticky in the new members forum titled "Blu Electronic Cigarettes Suck"... :)
Koman and lotsoffish:
Boy, I stepped in it that time... :) As I said, I've never tried them... I wasn't knocking them (and I was vaping Mistics and thought they were great...) The only thing I was referring to was the guy that keeps coming in and spamming about them... Sorry, didn't mean to knock something that at least got someone started on the right road... :)

Agreed.

I used to be hesitant about recommending the Volt because of the 808 threading.
But now that they have the X2 battery I think it is a reasonable recommendation at this point.

If a Volt vaper gets to the point where they want to move above the X2 battery, they almost need to move to 510 parts.
But if they have gotten that far, they aren't going to be afraid of spending the money anymore.

I would like to see Blu offer a similar product.
That could really help this entire industry while also helping Blu.

Heck, I would like to see Volt and Blu come out with a Twist type battery.
Then all bets would be off.
:)

They only reason I disagree with having to move to 510 parts is because many of the better delivery systems are available in 808 threading (ie. fluxo, ce4, Phoenix) its just that not as many vendors carry them. SI has said that they can get anything that's on the market in 808 threading but they will only sell it if they feel it's a good product after testing. I recently asked the, about the vivi nova2.5 and I was told that they looked into it, but the ones they tested were hit and miss, so they decided against it right now.

As for vv, I don't know. They have indicated that they try and keep everything compatible and a vv would not make that possible. But you never know what the future holds. They say they have a lot of great products in the works and now they are opening retail stores.

Every person has their preference, but the volt is a great starting point for a newbie and a great system for the average vaper who isn't in search for the perfect vape and the sweet spot of every juice.

I recommend Smokeless Image to everyone I've converted for 2 reasons.

1. Through personal experience, I would NOT have started using an e-cig that was larger than a 78mm. I had issues with the 78mm being "big" compared to even my 100 cigs at first. It also seemed fiddly at first. I used prefilleds for a few months last year, without even wanting to attempt filling it. Sometimes we forget that cigarettes are VERY VERY SIMPLE. They always work. We didn't have to check to make sure the filter was on right, that we weren't sucking too hard, or too little... light it, smoke it, dispose of it. SI is as easy as it gets with 78mms. It just works. Moving to the X2s with clearos, that's a slight step up in battery life, but again, it just works. I usually let people try both out, and the heavy smokers want the bigger battery after a few days.. the lighter smokers want the smaller ones.

2. And this should probably be #1.... customer service. SI takes care of people. I've never had a major issue, but I did have a cord that twisted and started to fray. I sent a note to CS, they replaced it. A friend had a battery DOA, they replaced it immediately. Another person ordered the wrong nic strength and flavor accidentally, they replaced it. EVERYONE I have referred to SI has remained loyal to SI with the exception of a guy that went box mod.... but he still has his 78mms for on stage at his shows.

The thing is Blu E Cigs don't really stink.

From what I can gather, the disposable Blu's sold at Walgreens are actually quite good; they are 808's with 24mg juice. The kits are a different story because the juice is too weak and the batteries are unreliable. I think the kits are what people object to.

If you can put aside the idea that your e-cig HAS to look, feel, and be the size of a cig, I promise you you will become satisfied in the vape world. NOTHING worked for me until I jumped up to a bigger battery mod, specifically a variable voltage mod. That way if I was real craving a blow to the throat I could turn it up! Also, no mg of nic under 24mg would suffice me when I first started vaping. Most people say yes, but that defeats the purpose of not smoking. CRAP. Anything to get you off the stinky's is the way to go! This is just my personal experience as a former hardcore smoker. And you do not HAVE to spend a ton of money. 60-80 bucks (ish) for a Lavatube kit, and I spend 20 a month on juice and cartomisers. 24mg juice, and you're good to go. Telling you, give this a week and you will never know why you ever smoked in the first place!

thats why i have a car adapter...for emergency charging LOL

In addition to car adapters, a backup power supply for a computer comes in handy for power outages. I lost power for 4 days in the October snow storm and you can charge quite a few cell phones and ecigs on it. It also protects my computer from power surges/drops every day and gives me a few minutes to log off when it goes down.

I bought the CyberPower 1500VA/900Watts from Costco, but APC makes them too. To me it's a giant PCC, power strip, and computer insurance all in one.

OMG OMG!!! I did it! I just left the altsmoke store and got in my car and already vaping my VOLT in dessert joe flavor!!! I loooooove it!!! They are so nice and helpful over there!! Okay now i gotta drive home before my husband gets back. More to come on my experience!!! Soon!

No sign of the OP since this post? I hope there hasn't been any foul play??

Lostsoul, if you are not in fact a lost soul, I recommend this thread, even if you end up loving the (very fine) Volt, and never feel the need for anything else. It has a lot of good info about attachments, juices, PG/VG ratios, nic strengths, variable voltage, and even a little human psychology/sociology with a touch of Jedi philosophy for good measure:

Quite a read from beginning to end! First off Congrats lostsoulcig! Second..... need an update! Like another poster referenced, it's kind of like a mini soap opera and well now I'm hooked!!! I understand about not wanting to tell your husband, and you will know when the time is right. Prepare yourself with the info you will need to show him that it isn't the same as smoking. Once he recovers from the shock you were smoking, and that you felt you had to lie about it no matter the reason, he will want to make sure you're health is not in jepordy with the ecig as it is with cigarettes.

On telling him, when the time is right, I would suggest a counsilor, be it a pro, or even a minister from church if you attend one regularly. Sometimes this makes telling your loved one something much easier, and sometimes they are more receptive of the news in this manner.

Hi everyone!!! Sorry for not giving you an update sooner and I really appreciate everyone thinking of me during this time - I have never found a group of people who are so nice and willing to help complete strangers and I feel lucky to have found you. I've been recovering from gum surgery and busy with numerous dentist visits, and have not been able to get online much. It is pretty apparent at this point that I will lose my front teeth and will have to get implants and veneers. The years of smoking has destroyed my gums and led to significant bone loss around my teeth. (There is one tooth where they won't even be able to do an implant because there is no bone for it to stick to). Sorry for all the gross details. Paying for all those years of smoking with poor dental health but at least I am off those stinkies now and I am thankful to all of you for helping me quit. Not sure if most smoker's teeth health gets affected to the degree mine did but this is alone enough for me to stay away from cigarettes. This is my 13th day without cigarettes! I'm feeling better already and have noticed a change in my smelling and tasting capabilities. My skin also looks better, there is like a rosy glow to my skin which I guess I had lost before due to smoking. I am loving my volt, thanks to all your recommendations. That was the perfect choice for me, as far as ease of use and the throat hit that I was looking for. I had to reduce my vaping as my mouth and gums were pretty sore right after the surgery but the last couple of days, I have been able to enjoy it more and more.

As I had mentioned, my trip to AltSmoke went great - Bobby at AltSmoke was very helpful in showing me all the different products they have. I actually tried to go to Smokeless Image store first, which is on the same street according to map quest but it was a house and not a store. I went to AltSmoke right after, and Bobby said that Altsmoke and Smokeless Image are sister companies, owned by the same person and they process all orders in the AltSmoke store. I even got to take a peek at the inventory and processing room at the back of the store and everyone was working hard filling the online orders. They are a great company to deal with and I will definitely be making trips as I run out of supplies. I got enough supplies to last me for a month for now.

As for talking to my husband, I have not done that yet but I plan to do it as soon as I feel comfortable with my transition into vaping. It is nice to be able vape in the house (as opposed to driving away to smoke a cigarette as you might know from my earlier posts) and there is no stinky smell to worry about. I have to tell you this funny story though: one day my husband went into the room where I had vaped earlier in the day, and he said what is that smell, it smells like feet here! LoL! It does indeed smell like feet/sweaty socks in the room if I don't ventilate it during the day, but that's something I can live with.

Hope you all are doing great and had a wonderful fourth of July! I'll keep you posted with my progress. Thank you again for all your help, support and love.

Glad you are doing so well lostsoul, and thank you for the update! Ventilating is easier than driving off to the mall to smoke in secret, as well as less time consuming. Glad you are feeling so much better and noticing the changes that come with giving up the stinkies. Stay strong, we can all see how much better you are doing simply from the "tone" of this post compared to that first one.
