In just days less than six years, two smokers here have saved exactly $47,463.73. That's the amount would have spent on cigs (smoking through today), less the amount we've spent on everything vape-related, which is now enough to carry us through both of our lifetimes.

I have not skimped. In fact, I've done just the opposite, except for the past few months, which are actually gains (sold more than I spent). The math holds up.

vape - it'll save ya (life, money, etc..).

The total I keep is "How much do I need to keep in my savings account." That seems to work out well, and I don't want to count my expenditures, as since I am starting to learn my skillsets and what I like, they will be falling quite rapidly, and I don't want to feel discouraged (I don't).

But, I was headed very swiftly toward COPD and even the very beginning was recklessly expensive. Inhalers repatented themselves, the Abx I was constantly taking for pneumonia weren't cheap, and steroids make me nuts (and more likely to spend without thinking, they REALLY make me nuts).

Plus, I was smoking 3 packs a day. I believe I'm making out, but let me tell you, I didn't count the cost of my cigarettes either, and even using loose tobacco and an injector machine, it was quite an expense indeed, I'm fairly certain (even with a few big ticket items of late) that overall, I have saved quite a bit of money, but more importantly, I can breathe and taste again.

I smoked heavily since age 18, I have gained 10 very necessary pounds since my tastebuds returned and I have enjoyed Every Bite.

Exactly. I refuse to keep a tally for my vape expenses.

I do.

The first year I vaped I spent 335 dollars, which included every aspect of vaping, ejuice included.

I spent approximately 2,080 dollars a year on smoking, so the savings was in the 1,745 range.

Second year I spent the same as the first, most of my equipment came from contest wins that year. Savings was equivalent to the first year.

Third year.. much different expenditure. Spent approximately 1,300 dollars on vaping, but set up with the provaris, rta's, and diy ingredients for ejuice. Savings only about 445 dollars from when I smoked.

In my fourth year of vaping now.. vaped over three years now. I'll catch up with everyone next year for what I spent this year. I expect to spend around 3-4 hundred though as I plan on more nicotine for stocking up and another device (maybe two if I come across a good deal)

Savings in the first three years was about 4,000 dollars.

I'm ahead both financially as well as health wise..

Edit: just to point out, that figure in what I spent on smoking is not exact. I purchased one carton a week of my own cigarettes, and stole out of my husband's carton when I ran out as he didn't smoke as much as I did... lol.. I am only counting what I spent on the one carton a week (off-brand cigarettes, L&M's, 40.00 dollars a carton) and not what my husband, essentially, bought me, albeit inadvertently. . Lol. So hubby is also saving money too, although never kept track of how much that was, so don't know how much that is..

New York (no, not the city)
If you have (a) device(s) that you like so much that you'd use for the foreseeable future, get a second to put into rotation, thus extending the lifespan of both units. Then get a backup for each, in case something happens to one or, god forbid, both.

Then get two more for the inevitable Vapocalypse when the government and Big Tobacco shut down the industry and you can't buy anything anymore.

So, six is the minimum you should have of anything :D

I didn’t smoke as much as some of you.
I think around the £2300 ay mark so I think I’ve spent more on vape gear in the last 3yrs nearly (2 months to go).
Perhaps I should work it out but then I’ll feel

Here's the thing, we don't have to spend much to get off the cigarettes and keep off them.

What we WANT to spend on something we enjoy, that's another story entirely. .

How much do we spend on t.v. channels we rarely watch, or on other avenues of enjoyment and pleasure? So long as we are happy, and not spending beyond our means, it's all good.

There is nothing saying we have to spend less on vaping, for me, that savings was just a reward for not smoking - extra money I could spend on things I wanted but couldn't afford when I was smoking. The occasional pedicure, small vacation get a ways, new outfits, lenses for my camera, kitchen gadgets.. lol.. these little things are my constant reminder of me doing something nice for myself by vaping, above and beyond just better health.

It doesn't have to be that way for everyone.. for me it just makes a healthier life a little more awesome. .

You should feel  as you still have the vape gear....Not just fond memories of yellow walls and ashes to throw out daily

12$ a pack here when I quit, average of about 2 packs a day (25 cigs per pack) over 8k a year.. I guess some of us are saving much more than others..

I tally my vape costs, I allow myself to spend 60$ a month but let it to carry over so if I only spend 40$ one month the next month I can spend 80..

60x12 720$ a year which is almost exactly what I'd spend on one month of smoking. So I'm only spending 1/12th what I was spending on cigs.

That is a VERY good point. I don't buy a ton of vape gear because I tend to research everything pretty well first and for the most part what I buy works well for me when I get it. But ya, I spend money on other stuff for sure.

TV was mentioned, I have cable because it came bundled with my internet. I don't even watch tv most of the time. When I do it is usually netflix. I watch the walking dead and CNN, that is pretty much it for live tv. I also own 6 airsoft rifles and I don't even "play" airsoft. I just think they look cool and are fun to play with in my basement or back yard. Those run between 200 and 400 or so per rifle in most cases. And I will probably get more. Not to mention the optics, flashlights and lasers I want to put on them. And just this month I spent 110 dollars on a new pocket knife. Keep in mind I am disabled and only make 700 dollar a month. So I guess its all about WHAT you want to spend your money on. I have other hobbies too, like computers and local police scanning.

To me vaping isn't so much a hobby as it is just part of my life so I tend not to buy mods just to buy them. I would rather spend my money on other things I guess.

Do any of you buy more than 2 pieces of the same gear?
I really like it but I have 2 already but I want a 3rd?

A spare is reasonable but, a spare for a spare?
If you like it, buy enough to last. Even if vape gear stays available, old styles are phased out pretty fast in the vaping world.

I have several REO mods (a good dependable mech to last a lifetime) and several P2 and P2.5 mods, my variable 'mechs' (Thanks, DP & Kat). I just love the size of the Pico. I have several of them for comfort.

Other than those, I have anywhere from one to three of this and that.

Atomizers? The same.

I've been at this vaping thing for awhile now. I have learned that new and improved never is. I have also learned that they only make this stuff for about 6 months before they move on to some other shiny object.

So when I find something I like...you bet I stock up.

Okay, it’s truth time. I have 2 of the 18650s but also 2 of the 490s, but I meant three of the same size. But 1 more for €35!!! Seriously couldn’t resist.

I’ve spent too much.
Disease prevention and apparent “savings” aside ;)
This has to be it...

I’m too fussy. If you’ve got a keen eye you can see that I’ve ruined the seamless appearance on the 650 on the left. My polishing skills leave a lot to be desired.
That was the straw the broke the camels back.

Funny, I'm selling my stuff off to get 1 that I really want.

I've saved a lot, but spent more than I should've finding what I like. If I can get the 1 mod I want I'm going to be good. Wife has shut me off so stuff has to be culled.

I envy some of your collections though.
