squape base replacements are the same pos's. they offered refund. so mad after all this time effort and frustration, to not waste 20 bucks i have to go ship this thing and wait another month and hope whatever isn't broke too. i am going to try efocalcigs or whatever it is or just pay the 10-20 dollar upcharge and get things stateside. i cant help but feel they ship crap on purpose knowing there's a long lead time and they keep the ponzi scheme going with our funds in the meantime.

Rare to get a defect from
fasttech - When it happens(Batch Defects) everyone involved receives corrected parts. i.e. not a base from another of the same batch.
Ordering stateside may help................or may get you another piece from the same Manufacturer. JMO
*Edit - Found your Problem and solution. Both (old and New ) Bases are defective.......but Good. i.e. no machining defects.
Units were Color Coated AFTER all machining was completed. Center post threads have coating on them.
Fix - Threading needs to be cleaned back to Metal to conduct properly.
Thread Tap may clean up
Chemical application to remove Anodize may wotk
Steel wool cleaning
Metal to metal contact is Key.
