No, the FDA needs to be completely replaced by an agency with public health as their priority.

Whole system has to be revamped. Only way to get anything done in politics is with bribes and by raising tax dollars. Even if this new agency has the best interests @ heart it's doomed to get caught up in it (else drown in a sea of red tape).

Remember artists tell lies to reveal the truth; politicians use lies to cover the truth up.

Can't you Americans think of SOME WAY that your system could work fairly and honestly? You love to tell the rest of the world that you are the most free country in the world. I see so many examples of this. Take the Miss Universe contest every year. Almost without exception, Miss USA stands there and says she's so proud to be American because Americans have the freedom to be anything they want and have liberty and justice etc. This is not to offend anyone, I love Americans as much as anyone. I know many of you ARE trying to make things better. And I know that many of you regard the old saying "America the land of the free", is fast becoming a joke. Again, please nobody take offense. There's nothing much I can do to change this except offer opinion.

NicNo, you're right and Miss USA is ignorant. The US has a number of issues that will keep it from ever regaining its lost freedoms.

Power corrupts. The original intent to work around this part of human nature was to make serving as president and congressmen un appealing to the pocketbook. So that folks would do their duty and then return to their personal affairs. One founding father wrote in a journal that if Congress ever figured out it could vote to increase their pay that the country was lost. They figured it out...

Add in that the majority of people don't want actual freedom. Being free means being fully responsible for yourself, your family, and your community. That scares most folks silly. They want to be cared for and protected. Even if it means handing that power to care and protection to someone who will be corrupted by that power.

Ignorance is bliss. How many vapers knew the FDA is the way it is before vaping? If they did know, did they really care?

So, some of us keep trying, but it appears we are outnumbered.

Nicko, America was the land of the free and to some extent still is, but it's getting less and less so all the time. To a large extent, we've brought this change on ourselves. Everything today is about the money and I don't mean only the corporations and government. A few years before my dad retired he was heading for work early in the morning riding as passenger with a co-worker. Someone that had been out all night, I'll assume playing, was finally heading home. He must have fallen asleep because he head on crashed in to the car my dad was riding in. He got messed up pretty bad, the driver, not as bad and the fellow in the other car died. Today they'd have done a toxicology test and when it came back positive, most would sue the dead man's estate. Not a thought of that from either of the men, only concern for the dead man's family.

I can't believe the number of laws that have been put into place in my lifetime. All it takes is an accident of some sort and somebody will make it illegal to do it anymore. The mentality seems to be if you restrict enough things you can make the world perfectly safe, but there's always something new to go after.

I don't know if we'll ever return to the country that our founding fathers intended. but it's a good expression for Miss USA- god, apple pie and country.
