Dear ECF members and visitors,
On August 8th the FDA will close the comments on its proposed deeming regulation.
This regulation will profoundly affect the future of the industry, and as it currently stands, this means 99% of available products are likely to be removed from the market.
So far, not nearly enough vapers have submitted their testimonies to the FDA, and it is essential that all who wish to see vaping remain a viable alternative for smokers.
That means you.
It needn't take long to comment, and I've put a guide on vaping.com, based on CASAA's latest call to action.
Please spend a few minutes composing your own comment. And remember, this really is your final opportunity to have your voice heard before the rule is made. Your comment is important as, by law, it has to be considered as part of the rule-making process.
Many thanks,
Oliver (SJ)
why this thread isnt 400 pages long yet is beyond me.
Hopefully the posting in this thread doesnt indicate the numbers actually leaving comments after seeing it here. The total number of comments does seem low considering the numbers touted for vapers in the US at 31,222 as listed on the FDA site but that is a respectable showing.
It isnt too late though to still leave comments, every additional one helps so if you have not left one yet then please do. As mentioned it is quite easy and only takes a few minutes to get it done.
to 8-o as he looked at his wall of juices ranging from 24mg to 0 nic in at least 15 flavors from ten vendors and he realized the juice makers didn't have to just have to pay for one flavor but for every flavor in every nic level including 0 to maybe get them passed by the FDA. Then he looked to his cases of mods from eGos to high end mods and the terror I've been living with since this whole thing hit finally struck him.I think people have no idea of the severity of this. My pal who owns a B&M rolled his eyes when I asked him what they were doing to prepare for the ruling, "That is being blown WAY out of proportion. So they want to make all of this 18+ only, I already do that. And only a few hundred dollars per juice flavor is fine too, people need to calm down..."
I then made him look up the proposed deeming and he went fromto

I hope he had his say. I know he is a member of CASAA so hopefully he's spreading the word through his shop.

I was a long time smoker at one pack a day. I have not smoked traditional cigarettes for over two years, thanks to ecigs. Nothing else has worked, including nicorette patches, gums, and lozenges, or quitting "cold turkey". Ecigs have saved my life and the life of millions of others. Imposing excessive regulation upon citizens will only deter them from ecigs and back to traditional cigarettes. I am 36 years old and enjoy candied flavored ejuices. In fact I enjoy changing flavors regularly in order to spice things up. Limiting flavors will potentially deter cigarette smokers from making the switch and destroy lives in the long run. Not to mention destroying a grass roots industry that has self employed many.
In the two years I have been smoking I have progressively decreased my milligram count of nicotine from 36mg to 3mg currently. I have, on my own terms decreased my addiction to nicotine in progressive steps, and plan to be at 0mg nicotine in a few months. With traditional cigarettes, this method of nicotine addiction cessation is impossible. And traditional nicotine sessation devices are expensive and not compelling enough to continue using, thus ineffective for many.
We all understand that the industry has grown rapidly and many ejuice vendors have taken upon themselves to include child proof and sealed bottles with warning labels and cards. Most website vendors have already included child verification measures and the industry recognizes that these products are for adult use only. This is something the FDA should recognize.
I feel that any and all regulation that is imposed on the ecig industry and ecigs in general should be based on facts and not stereotypes, heresay, or misinformation/outdated information. The key ingredients, PG, VG, flavorings, have all been deemed FDA food safe. Unless factual, scientific proof determines that mixing these FDA food safe products is detrimental to public health, regulations shoud remain as is. Nicotine, has been determined safe by the FDA. In 2013 the FDA even announced that no warning labels were needed for products designed to help people quit smoking, such as nicotine gum, patches, or lozenges.
If the FDA is interested in keeping the public safe, interest should be focused on the massive influx of product disseminating from countries like China, that are rushed to market, potentially un-tested, and potentially ill concieved. Considering China's track record on products in general, special attention should be considered.
Thank you for your time, please consider regulations that are based on science, understanding that excessive reulation may cost lives and destroy a growing American industry and the jobs that they bring. Thank you.
