Mamacat you are not alone! Grew up with guns, and have the utmost respect for them. I own a Taurus 9mm that I carry, I do have a concealed permit. My skunk gun is either my little old 22 or my Remington 870 magnum, (youth model cause I'm kinda short in the arms). I also have a really pretty Ruger 243 with a manlicker(sp) stock, wood all the way down the barrel. Ok guys straighten me out on the spelling or name of this.LOL My brother has a HK s.a. that is really fun to shoot, damn thing is heavy though. I had a Colt 38 police positive that was in a shoot out with Gordon Kohl, the tax protester, but I gave it to my dad for Xmas one year. Soon as I get done spending all my money on vapin stuff I would like to find something smaller to carry. Anyone have suggestions? I manager a liquor store so 'it' would be with me all the time.

HK (also H&K) is short for Heckler and Koch, which is pronounced "Heckler" (like someone heckling a comedian) and "Coke" (although you have to say coke like you're a drunk German...the "ke" drags off the back of the tongue...most Americans just say "Coke").

For small, go with the Kel Tek pocket 32 or pocket 380...Either one of them will absolutely WRECK someone's day and they're both about the size of a man's wallet. See my first post for a pic of the .32 for size reference ;)

Terra that 32 is a nice size. What does the clip hold 7, maybe 9? I did look at a 380 Taurus I think it was, the next day it was recalled because someone it Calif. dropped theirs and it went off. Maybe it was a Ruger, can't remember. The young guy that deals here in my little town is very pro Ruger for some reason. My 9mm has a 14 round clip and it's just to damn big and bulky for me to be carrying on a daily basis. Once I'm at my store I have a cubby hole right under the till that I put it in. Thanks for the Heckler info. That thing sure is fun, spendy to shoot though.

Well, I'm only 22, so I haven't had much time to start a personal arsenal of my own, and getting a CCP in New Jersey is more than a little cumbersome (read: next to impossible).

I get off fine shooting my father's two .45 M1911s, one Gold Cup and one Springfield Armory Operator. He also owns two bolt action .22s (one Anschutz one Remington), a Semi-auto Remington Nylon 66 (.22 and a HELL of a lot of fun to shoot) and a Colt Trooper .22 revolver (another wicked fun plinking gun).

Buying a gun alone is a back-breaker in NJ. And now that the great Governor Corzine has the bill rationing handgun sales to one a month on his desk, it's only going to get harder...

I have a few. Newest is a FBI 100th anniversary Glock 22. I did sell my favorite though. It was worth too much to keep around. I do not have a CCP due to the fact that they hold you more responsible in court. I also live is a fairly safe area where most people would not need to carry a weapon. The pics are of the Colt I sold.

Yeah, the p32 is a 7+1 single-stack mag.

They're not great at anything and will get you killed in a prolonged firefight but if it's a choice between going down like a victim and going down like a scrapper, I'll take scrapper any day...

It's a close range, surprise factor kind of weapon...perfect for catching someone off guard and putting metal to meat, buying you enough time for making a quick getaway or clearing a class 3 malfunction...Think of it as a backup, not a primary (that's what I carry mine as, anyway, until I can find something better which isn't likely to happen).

I had an H&K MP5 clone:

Traded it....

The .380 that was recalled was the Ruger LCP:

Ruger made it right with all customers. The problem is, .380 ammo is the most scarce right now. Some have the gun with no ammo.

Well, I can tell you this - There are certain parts of town I feel VERY uncomfortable in if I'm not packing and only slightly more comfortable when I AM packing.

It is a good feeling knowing that it's not just the crims that have guns here, though. When I'm walking through the mall I can feel easier knowing that if some idiot starts dumping on civvies, I can take care of business instead of just waiting to become a blurb in the papers.

Beyond all that, though, I enjoy firing my weapon. It relaxes me when I get "in the zone" on the range. Very enjoyable, indeed.

2nd amendment ;) (The right to keep and bear arms)

As for the soap box, I don't mind people supporting gun ownership and use, what I don't want it for the anti-gun crusaders to start in with how violent gun owners are and gun deaths this and robberies that etc...

I've fought that war so many times, it's just old now. If anyone does start it, though, I'll just search another forum and copy/paste...I can win the debate without typing a word :D

Almost forgot my wife and I both are Indiana "life time" permit holders. In Indiana you can OC or CC. I have never OC'd but it is nice to have that option:thumb:

Glad I could help, bro. It's good to know that I've done right by people.

Here in Arizona, they're actually talking about getting rid of concealed carry restrictions and making it legal for anyone who is allowed to carry a gun to carry it concealed without a permit. Personally, I think that's a good idea...There are some folks out there who are good people but can't get a CCP for silly reasons (Like...they punched a kid in the face when they were 13) which means they have to advertise the fact that they're carrying. Dumb.

Hopefully the new law will pass. It seems to have the support of the citizens defense league and Joe Arpaio so...we'll see.
