"The hernia effect"....a phrase coined at RJ Reynolds to describe the extremely hard draw on their failed smokeless cigarette experiment called Premiere. Draw and draw....very little smoke...

I have seen this on some cartos...particularly old design ones. The premos do better. Any tricks I should know about how to get some vapor from a carto that simply refuses to give up much without sucking it into the back of my throat? Should I tinker with the batting? The airholes? I have noticed that a carto that is like this tends to perform better on the 5v PT...so perhaps it is a power issue and not enough heat...

You may be drawing too fast/hard to get good vapor. I have found that less is more: the slower the draw, the less air fow, the higher the heat in the carto... the more vapor. It seems counterintuitive, yet unlike an analog, which needs more oxygen to burn faster, the ecig needs higher temperature...in my experience gained by drawing slower. I have found this to be the case on cartos, 901s, 801s, even the Juice Box.

I can see daylight through the cartos in question and I use a paperclip to keep that pathway clear. But in looking, the batting appears to be tighter in the old cartos...and looser in the premos. Later I will try poking around a bit and see if loosening the batting helps at all. It's not all cartos that do this....just some...and mostly old design. Maybe some are just wrapped too tight...

I noticed that some do have the batting dense or loose issue which I think is a main factor. I will try to refill some and the juice soaks straight in and other the juice pools on top. I take a paper clip align the holes and push that little wire on the side of the straw and make sure it is closer to the middle straw. It has worked on some and definitely helps with the burn feeling on one side of the cart (the ones that seem to get really hot). I am still playing around with this and asked for some help from others on another thread. I will let you know if anyone has other suggs. I just filled one today where I pushed the batting together and one where I loosened the batting. I will pm you results on those as soon as I use them. Keep in mind these carts that I am talking about have been used 40 times.

I've used a paperclip thru the hole, and a good wash......

does the trick for me.
Paperclips can do everything.
