The HISTORY of ecigarettes/vaping

Hello,
I was wondering if someone has a good link to the history of ecigarettes/vaping. I want to get a better impression of when notable or groundbreaking devices hit the market. I am curious to see how things developed into what they are today.
I use a copper panzer clone with an igow5 RDA. I understand that the panzer is a clone of a sunwayman tactical flashlight. That got me thinking about the origins of mechanical mods a vaping technology in general.
I've been trying to look up old threads from 2008 and such but I would like to have a more comprehensive view of vaping technology and the ideas behind certain developments. The successes as well as the failures. It all interesting to me!!!
I'm also checking old videos but I still don't have the best overall view of the history of vaping.
I understand there might not be ONE comprehensive link but I can piece things together if only partial descriptions are available.

i have tried to find this out myself.the best i could come up with were some timeline graphs that didn't really shed much light on the subject.

Thanks Mowgli...this is EXACTLY the direction I was going with this thread. I'm glad to see people with first hand experience of these products when they first came out. I find it so fascinating how people viewed them then and how they are viewed now!!
The funniest is when GrimmGreen was talking about how big the Screwdriver was and how it was just not his thing. He preferred the cig-a-like!! However, he did forsee the Screwdriver as being the future of vaping!!
