I decided to buy a range of gauges to play with I got 28,32 and 36 and also 400 and 500 wire.
Good call... A couple of things to think about. If you are going to Kick it, it will not matter what gauge wire you use. The Kick will decide what voltage to apply based on where you set the wattage. Also, you will find the 28 gauge a little harder to work with. I say try a bunch of stuff. If I were your coach, and it's iffy whether I qualify or not, I would encourage you to use Kanthal 32 for your first coil and 400 mesh for your first wick. That's your best chance at success. Then experiment and see how you like some of the other setups. YMMV
