hey everyone!

just spoke to faceless, and he is a hell of a nice guy. His voice is sexy, but then again so is anyone from texas, so it does not really count :)

I want to give a little rundown of my first impressions. This is not a full blown review, as I have only been messing with this thing for about 2 hours, and a full review would not be fair. This will just be initial impressions. Since improvements have been made already and will come in the next version, then I just thought it would only be fair to give a brief overview.

I know everyone is going to compare this to the genesis, but to be honest, it is really a cross between that and the Katana. What I mean by that is that it has some of the features of that device that the genesis does not have. This is not good or bad, it just makes it different. I am a big fan of not really comparing devices to each other, but rather letting them stand on their own.

I will break this into three parts. The great, the good but they are things to think about....

The great

1) faceless. This should be first. He obviously cares and that shows in his determination in getting us the best device he can. I mean he is sending new ones to those with the V1 version. You can tell how much he cares by reading his posts and also when you talk to him. He must have told me four times to throw this one in the trash, and that the new one will be much better. Obviously I will not do that. :) I like dealing with people who do business in a certain way as is evidenced by my past purchases.

2) The machining is not that bad. I was afraid after the initial reports that I was getting a device that looked like I made it. You dont want to see that one. I think overall it looks pretty darn good.

3) Love the versatility of battery changes

4) threads are smooth and plentiful

5) nice size and weight. It is a little wider than expected, but that is not a bad thing.

6) it hits hard. I mean harder than other genesis devices I own. There will be no 4 wrap for me.

7) the recessed top cap is a smart idea. I can see how it will help eliminate it popping off.

8) the tank protector. I like this feature. I also like that you can still quickly take the top off.

9) I like the one wrench idea.

10) the locking switch. This is nice and spins easily

11) tank size. You can have a small version, but still with a larger tank.

12) my lucky number here. I added magnets. I like magnets. The spring is great though. I just needed a number 12 :)

things to think about (already discussed with my new friend)

1) this will probably be harder to set up for newbies. It was for me, and I am no longer a newbie. I popped seven coils before I got one to stick. I re-oxidized, and use the cigarette paper method, and still had trouble. I am guessing there are several things at work. First, you will need a throughly oxidized wick since there is no insulator. This can make it challenging. I own other devices without insulators, so I knew how to tackle it. Also, this hits harder than other similar devices. This means hotter. This can make setting these up a challenge.

2) blemishes. To be honest, mine looked really good, but if you have ocd, I can see how you will go nuts. I think for a first run it looks pretty amazing.

3) when you go to screw off the protector tank, it is easy to unscrew the whole thing. a knurled ring might help, but people might hate it.

4) the cap is crooked. He knows it and is fixing it.

5) the top screw is knurled and you can screw it by hand. I would like if both were that way and potentially you would not need any tools. that would be cool.

6) I notice the edges of the switch are a little sharp. I discussed beveling it, but that might mess with the stability.

Overall first impressions are good. I think he did a fine job, and I look forward to version 2.

ps, all my drip tips fit.

and no, I am not throwing this one out. :)

How much harder is it to setup vs a traditional? I'm a newbie to Genesis atties and that comment got me scared a bit.

Just super oxidize the wicks?

Sigh, so guess no Petar K method? The coils looked so pretty.

Nice quickie look into the iHybrid!

Hopefully some of your ideas can be integrated in the V1's.

Really wouldn't mind #3.

I am also new to genesis attys hybrid or 510. I'm looking forward to taking on the challenge of getting this up and running. I love to tinker. So far I know to oxidize the hell out of the coil. Any other tips? Saw many videos on wrapping coils and it seems pretty straight forward. I've heard terms I don't quite understand though. Like I'm running a 4/3 or 4/5 or whatever the numbers. Does that refer to the amount of times wrapped around the post to how many times it's wrapped around the wick? And how does this effect the resistance? Thanks again for all the help.

The more wraps you have the hotter it gets (more vapor) I use 3-4 wraps.

Think each wrap will increase the resistance.

I'm not too sure on the 4/3 wrap, I thought it was when one side of the wick had 4 wraps and one side 3. If I'm wrong somebody please correct me!

Read this thread

Edit: Has anybody actually tried the Petar K method on this thread? I saw ob made a post about it which got me interested.

More wraps hotter??????

Either he wraps his coils either tighter or the extra coils is heating up more surface area.

Its really the length of wire that determines the ohms, a crappy made 4 wrap would have a different resistance than neat a 4 wraps. A neat 7 wrap could have the same resistance as a crappy 5 wrap.

But than surface area comes into play with vaporizing the e-liquid.

Edit: play around with this website

http://www.jacobs-online.biz/nichrome/NichromeCalc.html

From the Wire 101 thread. You shouldn't use that wire for vaping but it gives you an idea what the wraps will do to the resistance. Wraps just increase the distance.

I think so lol, you're making me second guess myself! 4 wraps means more coils which in turn would burn more and be hotter creating more vapor, the less wraps the less heat, less vapor. 3 wraps on the iHybrid produces a ton of vapor, but I use 4 because I like to OD on pluid

Doesn't matter as long as it vapes great!

Edit: Faceless any chance I can buy an extra top piece with a bigger wick hole?

My goal was not to scare anyone, just prepare you.

There is a learning curve for ANY device. I was just pointing out that because these seem to run hotter, that they may take some time to learn.

You all will do it. We have all been there. I still have devices that are harder to make than others. Probably ones that others think are easy because they have more experience than me.

You will be fine. I promise :)

Thanks ob! Teach me about the Petar K method! Would it be viable with the iHybrid?

But what types of accidents did you run into so we can avoid the same thing?
