The other 12 should be considered collectors items or thrown in the trash

Well, for a piece of trash this vapes like a freight train and I am very happily puffing away right now!

Here are the four reasons why this one is now my to-go APV, on top of perfect flavor/vapor/draw: Kick regulated power, my lightest PV, stable (not wobbly) when standed up, and tank/top cap protected by the sleeve. Win.

1) this will probably be harder to set up for newbies. It was for me, and I am no longer a newbie. I popped seven coils before I got one to stick. I re-oxidized, and use the cigarette paper method, and still had trouble. I am guessing there are several things at work. First, you will need a throughly oxidized wick since there is no insulator. This can make it challenging. I own other devices without insulators, so I knew how to tackle it. Also, this hits harder than other similar devices. This means hotter. This can make setting these up a challenge.

I have to agree with all of the old .......s sentiments. But this one the most. I wanted to post some thoughts last night, but I got a late start setting it up. I oxidized a wick jack frost style (poorly I think, since I used my gas stove and not a torch) after rolling it though, I soaked it with e-liquid 5 times and burned it off hoping that I gunked it up enough, and set it up. I have several other genesis devices too, so I have set these up before. Fortunately though I have those pre-made wicks from Zen, so I typically use them. I popped 4 coils, then just put it down for the evening since it was getting late.

I'll try again tonight, but I have to go get a torch and try making a wick again. What size piece of mesh should I use? I really had a hard time rolling it up tight enough to fit into the wick hole.

Happen to me yesterday but on my Zenesis.
I popped at least 10 coils but I never give up its not in my blood.
I ended up un rolling my new wick and using the 1/8 in fold over method.
So my last wrap ended in a fold over no frayed edges.
First coil was successful like this.

Well I'm on like 2 1/2 months with the pre-installed coil in the Zenesis.. hasn't broken or needed replaced. I've cleaned it once. I even dropped the thing off a table and broke the tank but the wick and coil were fine. So I've had no practice at all.. we'll see how difficult it is for me. I only have the wicks that came with the Zeni, I know those are gonna be pretty thin. Maybe I should order some mesh when I get my paycheck. But eh.. I have a ham radio license and took 3 years of art metal in school, shouldn't be beyond my grasp.

I'm the opposite, I have like 200ft of 32kanthal and a 12x12 sheet of 400ss. I am just missing the parts to put them in lol

I put a couple of Zen's wicks together to make fatter ones.

Virginia is for vapers
I find that beginners just over think the whole wick/coil setup. You can even use a lighter to prep a wick - it takes a little longer, but it works. Folding the edge over is very useful for avoiding shorts, I will admit. When I got my Katana (one of the hardest ever genis to work with), I had issues, but after a couple of weeks of redoing wicks and re-wrapping coils, you eventually just "get it".

I'm with you on this.
I have 2 sheets of 400 2 sheets of 325 mesh and various rolls of kanthal that could stretch to Texas.
Spare batteries and spare chargers.
500 plus ml of liquid.

I know you haven't managed to get a Zenesis, and I don't see you on the regular or reserve list for this one.. what's up? Don't want to at least get on reserve? You've been stalking every rebuildable thread I do, I know you really really want one. =)

Most important - to oxidize the hell out of your wick - overkill it. I do it 5 times for each side ( at least 20 seconds each time).
Then I used cigarette paper method. Just make sure your tank is clean and empty. And when you dry burn it - you have to see all coil evenly glows. If not - you won't get any pleasant taste.
