I created a genesis trips and tricks thread some time ago and I know I put it in there.

I know! I first learned of that method from your thread.

I thought the wick hole for the Vaper was larger to allow his method.

If I'm misinformed please let me know!

I know I'm freaking out since its my first Genesis, I promise to behave once it gets here.

I think so lol, you're making me second guess myself! 4 wraps means more coils which in turn would burn more and be hotter creating more vapor, the less wraps the less heat, less vapor. 3 wraps on the iHybrid produces a ton of vapor, but I use 4 because I like to OD on pluid

No. It should be the other way around. Less wraps should be hotter. Lesser the wraps, the lesser the resistance. We can derive the following from Ohm's law:

Code:
Watts = Volts X Volts / Ohms
Amps = Volts / Ohms
So using these simple formulae and keeping the voltage constant at 3.7V, you get(P = power in watts, I = current in Amps and R = Resistance in ohms)

  • R = 1.0 ==> I = 3.7 and P = 13.7
  • R = 1.5 ==> I = 2.5 and P = 9.1
  • R = 2.0 ==> I = 1.8 and P = 6.8
  • R = 2.5 ==> I = 1.5 and P = 5.5

As you can see the power and current used decreases as you increase the resistance at constant voltage which is what a non VV like iHybrid will provide straight out of the battery. The higher the wattage and current, the hotter the temperature to evaporate the e-liquid generating more vapor and hotter vape as well.

Finally, something I can contribute to this thread. :D

I have a question regarding the Ihybrid.... Faceless says we dont have to have a wick insulator. Now, over in the HoH thread Zen says its always better to have one. Faceless, did you engineer the Ihybrid so it dont need one? Please explain if you will Sir.

Thanks

Just need to super oxidize your wick. There are people on HoH who take out the insulator for the larger wicking hole.

Plus people have burnt it. Read some weird replacements like pen tubes.

Edit: Guessing this is part of the reason ob said it's a harder setup.

I can vouch for this. I was running 4 to 5 wraps on the coil normally and one day had to do a field repair. I dropped it down to 3 wraps and WOW... I was getting a better burst of vapor with just a fraction of pushing the button. Now, Im staying at 3 because I like it so much.

Well Faceless did say more vapor so I'm assuming he's just getting better surface area.

Unless he's a super coil wrapper and is making super 4/5 wraps that have the like 1.5 resistance.

Having an insulator ensures that even without a fully oxidized wick that it'll work. The downside of an insulator is a thinner wick which in my experience makes for less flavor. I think that's also why all the other Genesis attys don't have one. My Orions outperform my Zens in terms of flavor any day.

Zen is right in the sense that Zenesis is being shipped out assuming people are new to the genisis style atomizers. He provides oxidized wicks and even coil them wick ready for you to use. When you know how to oxidize the wick properly and create a good oxide layer making the outer layer of the wick non-conductive, then the wick cannot cause a short.
iHybrid would be a more advanced user device than the Zenesis in the sense that you make your own wicks and coils. Oxidize that wick properly and you will not get shorts.

This makes sense. My DID doesnt have an insulator and so I rolled a bigger wick and the flavor is better...but the vapor isnt

To current Genesis owners, whats the point of the center hole (in the wick)?

I remember reading about amount of mesh having an effect on wicking. More mesh should = better wicking.

Why not making a smaller inner hole and roll more mesh? Does the inner straw do something?

Thanks

I am not sure that the center hole assists much in wicking, but it does provide a passage for air and as the coil heats up the wick, pushing out the hot air and creating a more complex vapor. But this should be minimal and I don't think it creates much of a difference to an average user.
I have seen people trying a thinner wick inside a bigger outer wick and claiming more vapor and that is probably true as the wetter and less hotter inner coil still provides more liquid to evaporate when the outer one dries.

Personally, I have been very happy with 3/4 or 4/5 wraps around a big wick (35mm wide x 42 mm long piece of mesh) at 3.7 to 4.2 Volts on my DID on a provari.

I dont know the logistics of why it doesnt require a insulator. I suppose the connections I used for the positive post are so good that it outweighs the negative contrast. My wick even touches the bottom of the tank and I have no issues. I said that I dont recommend an insulator and this is why. It's plastic, so if you're using it because the wick might not be properly insulated, thats bad news! If its not properly oxidized it will melt the plastic and you will be inhales plastic fumes :( I would rather have a short and fix my wick than inhale plastic. I will always think this way and my opinion will always differ from that of HoH thread on this matter. Hope this gives you insight. I don't really know why mine doesnt short out, even elfstone said his didnt short out when touching the bottom, it might not even short out if the mesh touches the positive post, I will experiment with that :)

Faceless will the sleeves be turned like the bodies? Does the colors still match?

Thanks

yes the sleeves are turned also, everything matches :)

Paid (MO)....... and happy about it :)

BTW Faceless, I'm about ready to get time.

lol, I think I was suppose to call you huh? I will note it on my calendar so I dont forget lol

I still haven't gotten payment info for Dwolla, I know I am low on the totem poll, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missed :)

No you weren't missed, I'm waiting for mine to clear lol, dwolla is slow. I will tell everyone by posting in this thread that my dwolla is ready, it should be tomorrow (fingers crossed)

Was that wrong? Should I not have done that?

Just FYI though, K-man does smell.....(like rainbows and unicorns and morning dew)

Fisty,

Actually, if you want to be added to the reserve list, please post it here. Either Faceless, or I, will add you. Due to when I initially created the list, I left the access open, but SOMEBODY started adding colorful comment to another customer's info. So Faceless and I thought it would be best to limit who could enter info.

BTW, I giggled when I saw your comment about me "trying really hard to get on the extra 10 list". I would like one, but I came a little late to this party, and I wouldn't feel right if I bumped somebody down. I just like to help where I think it's needed.
