A few questions since no one answered them before. Im hoping someone will this time. Can someone tell me what the difference in wire is? like 28,30 and 32?

I saw on another forum somewhere cant remember where some guy was using mesh around a mesh wick. He was saying it was metering at 2.5. Has anyone else tried this? Looks like it would be a lot easier and no hotspots. It was wrapped one time around the wick. Still not sure how he screwed it down.

I had some others but cant remember right now. I have a bad case of CRS. Always have had it. Anyway Im off to bed. Been a long day. Probably even longer tomorrow. You know for me being on disability. I sure am busy. Once again...moving sucks. Been here for a few weeks now and still taking care of crap I didnt know I had. Dog sitting doesnt help either. That little guy is wearing me out! Hes a Chihuahua and full of energy. If I could bottle that energy I would be a rich man!! No he isnt my type of dog but I love him to death. Ill see you all tomorrow sometime. Can you link the mesh coil whatever? Never heard of it.

The lower the gauge the lower the resistance per ft.

So if you made the same number of wraps the lower gauge ones will have lower resistance.

Hi Chelsea! I can't answer ANY of those questions. But, I remember seeing the answers to some of your questions on the Reference Links Site. If you look at the "Supplies" Section - about Line #130, you will see several posts explaining the difference in wire gauges. In fact, there's even links to other sites regarding this subject that REALLY break it down :)

Regarding the Mesh...there is a section for Mesh there as well, but I don't know if any of the links are a specific as you need. So I'll leave that question up to someone who actually KNOWS what they're talking about. LOL

I hope this helps!

Does anyone know why my 4/3 coil will test at 1.8 ohms in the morning when I build it and is up to 3.2ohms when I go to bed? Seems like a big jump. I've gotta be doing something wrong. It's no big with my kick in, but without it it's way too high ohmage. Screws are all tight, so that's not it.

What do you mean build it up?

Does the ohmmage go down if you leave the iHy overnight? Kinda confused.

If it just stays high ohmmage cold be gunk buildup.

I mean when I make a fresh coil. No gunk build up at the end of a day of use as long as I use my kick but the coil resistance goes way up. Doesn't change overnight when it's sitting, just in use. Every time I make a new coil and it's the same thing. If I keep using on day two it will hit 4 ohms. I'm so confused! Lol!

Probably build up, is your coil silverish or blackish?

That's my initial impression as well. Obviously I won't drill my beta unit because its being passed around but a second wick hole...I'd pay good money for that as an "option" or perhaps a standard feature?

Here here. I would also like to see that as an option or even becom standard in the future!!

I for one think this is a great idea....it's better to be safe. I'd hate to be the one to hold up the beta because I broke the tank  pretty sure people might hunt me down and kill me

Metal, syringe, w/e I know I won't break the glass (reaches for iHy and breaks the glass). Ummm... When did you say you'd post tanks? jk

Anyone ever wonder why my avi is an otter?

Not really lol. But now I'd like to know.

I'm with you, buddy.

28 fatter 30 skinnier 32 skinnier than 30. Ohms per inch is higher in skinnier wire (numerically bigger). For example 1inch of 32 may have 1ohm resistance where as 1 inch of 28 may have .5 ohm (not actual just as an example).

I dunno about that other stuff. Mesh coil... WHY? Kanthal works perfect for me. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Sounds to me like there is a short. The coil will always go up in resistance as it gets more build up on it. I've never had one swing that much of a diff though. Maybe it got bumped sometime throughout the day?

OK caught up again. AND a work now =(

Gonna start some DIY up in a min. I totally spaced though that I can't use the calculator I use at home because I have no freakin idea how to make a .exe work on this linux system here at work. Dont really care to TBH. SO, what was that universal calculator that works on the www? That way I can use it on both platforms. I have most the links from Lady, just not sure which one it is.

BTW thanks Lady for all you do for us!! The scatter brain in me is especially appreciative!
