I like a little space in-between my coils and I don't oxidize mine

And yes I know the tank is crooked...

Red during or after? About a third of it looks to glow after I let off the button. Reading .8 ohms when I test for continuity between the coil and mesh. Is that bad?

I'm pretty sure you don't want continuity between your coil and mesh.

What exactly are you metering?

When doing dry burns look for any mesh that turns red with the wire.

Vapor was right, it looks like microshorts (sorry my made up word for this).

OK caught up again. AND a work now =(

Gonna start some DIY up in a min. I totally spaced though that I can't use the calculator I use at home because I have no freakin idea how to make a .exe work on this linux system here at work. Dont really care to TBH. SO, what was that universal calculator that works on the www? That way I can use it on both platforms. I have most the links from Lady, just not sure which one it is.

BTW thanks Lady for all you do for us!! The scatter brain in me is especially appreciative!

Thanks Max, I do appreciate that. BTW, there are several programs you can download on your phone. The link is on that DIY spreadsheet.

EDIT: There are several JUICE Calculator Programs available to download on your phone.

How old is that coil.....

And have you fixed the spot on the bottom coil yet

LongHaul, how old should a coil be? I always thought I could keep using it until it falls apart?

Goodnight everyone :)

Vapor wonders if you need a macro lens to see microshorts.

Pretty much till it gunks up or pops but checking it once a day works for me...

I "think" he was more asking because of the condition. If it were virtually new and crudded up, that would mean something different than if it were a 3 week old coil, etc...

The type of juice also comes into play and can shorten a coils life.

A good coil, with clean juices can last quite a long time. My green envy is still on its first coil with no care or cleaning....

Agreed, though there's nothing wrong with wrapping that way once you learn to get it right.

I wrap all of my wicks in the devices.. Fastest and easiest once you learn how to get the tension right IMO..

It looks like the wick was put in and then wrapped....It might just have so much tension on it that its friction shorting

Nothing turning red with the wire, just glowing after. Tried turning to no avail. Think ill oxidize the wick again tomorrow and build a new coil a little further spaced and see if that makes any difference. I've got to go turn in now. Thanks for all the help guys!

Nite.........

Just wrap the next one a bit looser as well and I think you'll be good to go.

It's like playing golf, there are many different paths to the hole but the end result is always the same
