I had to play, wanted to try the unoxydized wick, that part whent well.
In the past I would use small washers under the poss. screw but that tightens the draw to much.
but it fixes the hot spot problem.
And Im very .... about a super straight wick, that kills me sometimes.

Plus im using Bobas Bounty, thats always hard to get right.

That is one of my favorite sounds. 4 into 1 header on a kz750/900/1000 is sweet music!!!!

At 40 my yosh is my sweet sound now , I can still hear my tunes, and cagers can still hear me!!

pinched the top of the wick and loosened the poss. screw tugged on the end of the wire and snugged her down.

Saw that the other day. iThink I like it? gotta see it in person!

So I think I know why we were having trouble finding out what brass was in those "other" tru-stone tips. With some blanks of that material, you can get it predrilled for making pens and it comes with that brass tube installed. So what I'm thinking is he/she probably has no idea what kind of brass it is... I wouldn't think it's any high-grade brass, so someone could have the potential of getting hurt. I don't have the right to hurt any of his business, but WE do have the right to know.

Personally, this makes me glad that I'm using bully tips, which use SS in the center hole. When I was collecting guitars, my grandpa always told me: quality over quantity. Hope this helps everyone.

Im having trouble with the infamous top coil hot spot.
Ive been at it for a hour.

What I normally do to solve this is take a pair of tweezers and pinch the wire up against the wick at the top wrap. It doesn't take much and be careful not to distort the wick.

I didn't really hear an accusation in silent's statement - he just stated what could be the case. I have also researched making these drip tips. The fact is, yes you can buy pre-drilled blanks - even some that have the brass tubes already inserted. Rather or not this is the case with this particular vendor, I do not know. But the fact of the matter is that he also makes pens, so even if he is not purchasing pre-drilled stock with the brass tubing already in them, it is highly likely that he is using the same stock that he uses for the pens. Again - just speculation, but highly likely, I believe... I have researched it, because I thought of making them. I even shopped around for mini lathes and other turning tools and scoped out the prices on different materials and blanks. I just have no time for it.

IF the threads are searched, you will find out that there are MANY here that bought tips from him, and YES they do come with brass inserts.....the vendor stated that he may use ss....but it is not confirmed, and so far all have been made with the brass.

Shai - we know brass inserts are in the finished product. I HAVE one that I purchased from him (just not using it). We were talking about if he is buying stock that is pre-drill and already has the brass in it. Also, I think he is turning his own brass - It makes sense, as he has all brass drip tips, and if you look at the other materials, it is no just a tube - the base of the whole dt is brass, unlike the bullys that just use a tube.

I know that I have one .Sd was saying(possibly) the guy bought blanks that had brass inserts already installed and the guy had no idea what brass he was using .
