Hi there,

OK I have been vaping for exactly 28 hours now and after 29 years of being a hefty smoker, I am happy to say that I have not touched a single analog cigarette.
I started off (all those 28 hours ago) with a Kanger Evod 2 starter kit and the 70PG/30VG US Light 18mm liquid from my freedom smoke.

Of course I did nothing but read for the last week so after one hour of vaping the first bought juice I had some tingling on my tongue and off I went to the local B&M store to buy some Velvet Cloud Juice. Yum and no more tingling on my tongue either BUT also no throat hit!

Now my first question to you........... will this be missing from all VG/water juices or will an upgraded device make the difference that I need?

If an upgrade can solve this, I would be very happy. I have a budget aside for this, so will not be limited, I just really want to carry on making this work for me and would prefer to cut out as much add ons in the juice as possible.

Also what is the nicotine level of the juice? This is important for throat hit.

Edit: To make clear, I see you mentioned 18mm juice in your first post which I am assuming you meant 18mg NIC, so was the other juice you purchased also 18mg? If it was not you will probably notice a reduction in throat hit.

i never heard of the 'tingling" which i can only surmise was "spit back" from hot juice being "spit" out through the drip tip from an EVOD or any clearomizer. this is usually found in rebuildable dripping atomizers using wide bore drip tips. you should be able to use any liquid you like up to a 50/50 blend with those.a lady friend of mine has been using EVODs for the past 18 months with no problems. i'll be interested in the solution as i often recommend these to new users..good luck.

P.S. vaporists always upgrade, needed or not. best of luck on your journey :D.

High VG juices tend to be a lot smoother. If the throat hit is what your after then you will need some PG. I suspect the problem you had was a combination of 18mg nicotine and the PG. Try a 12mg 70vg30pg and work from there.
The set up you have is fine for now. May I suggest MtBaker, you can pretty much any mg and blend you want pretty cheap. Juice at the B&Ms aint cheap

Hi Guys,

not splatter from the drip tip at all but somehow the first juice just left a strange feeling on my tongue but otherwise worked really well with the kit I bought and certainly kept me satisfied and away from the analogues which is the main thing!

Now this said, I eat healthy and buy local and organic food and I guess my vape had to turn into the same direction. The Velvet Cloud which is VG and water has the same Nic level which is why the lack of throat kick can only come from the lack of PG BUT I would rather upgrade the device (Airflow, stronger batteries etc.) IF that will make a difference than vape liquids which have ad ons, that I am not keen on.

Congratulations and welcome to ECF.

Your Evod 2 is fine I think it may have been the PG/VG ratio. 50/50 worked great in my evod and Evod glass tanks. Higher PG would make it a thinner liquid with stronger flavor. Thinner juice would flood the coil and could cause liquid in the vapor, especially if it is not atomized fully. From my experience higher nicotine levels have left a tingle on my tongue and a slight burn in the throat. I started at 18mg about 4 months ago. I am now down to 6mg. I too have started where you are now. I can suggest looking at VV/VW devices and Aspire Nautilus tanks.

The upgrade process is inevitable for many. Better throat hit from 100% VG will come from higher nic or advanced gear. You might try the 24mg blend. There is a plethora of upgrade options. For me I had to get the thump from a massive cloud to stay off the smokes. So I highly encourage some research into what it is you actually may want which is a little tough when you are new. Plus there are so many great devices getting ready to come out or just released. I would recommend looking at the 50 watt regulated device options. There are a good number getting ready to hit the market. Atlantis subohm tank may be your friend?

So more vapor production from an advanced device will certainly give you more throat hit. I don't think the drip tip will add throat hit but it might allow you to lung hit on that tank. Hard to say if that will get you what you are looking for

Thank you for all your help guys! Upping the nic is not an option as the 18mg left me slightly light headed. I will keep using it first thing in the am or occasionally during the day. This is the 70 pg/30vg i originally bought. I also think that this is the one that I will need to keep at home whilst weaning myself of the analogues and trying to find my go to juice and hardware.

My longish term goal is to eliminate as much nic as possible as well as too many ingredients. I will want to mix my own juice but apart from that I will want an easy life:) my evod keeps me happy with the pg juices right now but I'd like to get one or two sets who will handle the vg better...... So probably an airflow tank of some sort and a more powerfull vv/vw battery. I do not want to turn this into a collection so as long as there is a pretty simple hardtech combo out there, I rather buy something ahead of my current vaping and not worry about it anymore.

I already look forward to the day when I have all my stuff sorted:)

While I agree that a VV/VW mod and a better tank may help somewhat I think what your looking for doesn't exist. Vaping is a different animal than analogs and you cant really mimick them. Its more of a bandaid to get you by till you forget about them. That being said, a decent upgrade would be an istick (20w) is a big upgrade and a kanger v2 or an aspire natalus. Those are my carry to work devices

To be honest, I have no desire to mimic smoking analogues as I have already seen the advantages of vaping :) What I am hoping for is a juice that tastes just yummy and what I never thought would happen, already happened; I am a flavor junkie.

This said, right now my tongue is numm and I have to keep chewing gums (which I normally dislike) to taste even strong liquids so maybe even this will change. I guess as of tonight I have accepted the fact that vaping is a journey. With kit developing so fast that I am sure I will find something suitable for me over the next six months or so and in the meantime all the research is going to keep my mind of the analogues.
