There are a few discussions on this site regarding the difference in the feeling between vaping and smoking. The general consensus, as I've read it, is that part of your physical addiction to cig smoking is MORE than just the addiction to nicotine; according to what I've read here, the "buzz" and instant hit/relative dizziness you get from a cigarette has something to do with a combination of some of the ~4k chemical/carcinogen components of a standard cigarette.

That's a problem. I wish I had never read about it.

The psychological hit that I took when I read about this went something like this;

"My days are stressful. Smoking helped that. Now I'm trying out vaping and I love it... yes, there is something missing--I dunno what it is--but it's acceptable considering all the benefits. Wait, they're saying I won't get a nic buzz anymore? That maybe I'll get my nic levels up high enough, slowly, to feel somewhat satisfied, but that the hit--the buzz--the diziness factor--those are gone? My problem with that is this; I can't help but believe that the very same components that caused that buzz/dizziness were also responsible for part of the calming effect of smoking. I have pity on myself during the day (I know, sounds whiny, but be realistic) so when I'm going into work I'm thinking 'Well at least I just sucked down that smoke so I know I'll be able to handle some of the typical stressors in here a little easier.' But now I wonder; how much was nicotine the issue with my smoking? After all, the gum and patch failed miserably. And I was getting plenty of nicotine there. Now, I have something in vaping that ENTIRELY replaces the "act" of smoking and it does so very convincingly, so I'm getting my nicotine, and I'm getting the full "act" of smoking, but I don't get my "buzz" anymore... that little dizziness that tells me things are going to be just fine. Where did that go? How can I make it come back somehow by adjusting the way I vape (which "juices," hardware, habits, etc) because without that buzz, I don't feel satisfied."

HELP US! How do we conquer this last obstacle!?

Maybe someone will have an answer for you, but I'd suggest you'd focus on how great it is to be able to duplicate the ACT while getting the nic. 2 outa 3 aint bad, if it's even real! Maybe it's just your addict brain trying to convince you there's a problem and you still need analogs? Forget what you read.

When I first wake up and start vaping I use higher nic levels for that reason. I had that missing something feeling plague me for a while. I would have a .... but didn't like it so I knew it was just the fact I was giving something up that bothered me more than anything else. Plus the fact that I went outside to smoke and interacted with the squirrels and birds in the morning and was missing all that went with smoking. After awhile I settled into vaping and that feeling went away by using higher nic at the start of the day. Every once in a while I experience it but not to often any more.
They did a study on quitting using no nic cigs.

I also came to realize, fairly quickly, that I need a higher nic level right now, as the previous poster said: especially in the AM.
And I firmly believe that the way vaping delivers nicotine is far superior, for me, than the transdermal (skin) or buccal (oral mucosa) way patches and lozenges do.
Can't really comment on the dizzy factor, as I'm not sure I really got that from smoking.

Simple, don't quit.

Silly? Not really.

Yep, you can be addicted to something other than nicotine. So?

Vape to replace cigs for a few cigs a day. Fewer cigs is still good so don't worry that you are still having them. (It's not like cigs have never been iin your mouth before.)

At this point try a different juice. Different in strength and taste. Ask if this new juices kills anymore of the cig craving than the last. Smoke a few more cigs while you consider it.

At this point try a different juice. Repeat. Repeat.

It worked for me. I got to the point I was having 3 cigs a day for 5 days. Then 1 cig a day for 2 days. Then and only then could I walk away from them.

So, you won't be one of those, "I haven't smoked since I got my XYZ PV.". Many of us don't fit that mold.

You might want to up your nic level alittle. My sister started vaping and about 2 weeks later she told me about it and then I started. She told me to start with a higher nic level then I thought I needed, so I did @ 36 (I smoked almost 2 packs a day). I quit analogs right away...I never even thought about them again, I was satified. I gave the partial pack in my purse to a friend and I still have 2 in the fridge. I have never even thought about another analog...I see them everyday but it doesn't bother me at all. My sister still has a couple of analogs during the day and she asked me what are we doing differently? We have the same equipment and a lot of the same juices....the only difference was the nic level. She ordered some higher nic juices and she is doing much better. I am slowly lowering my nic level and in the evening I vape with no nic and I use a higher one in the morning. I'm taking my time to try new levels at different parts of my day....hopefully I'll be down to no nic...but who knows I'm not sweating the small stuff I've come way further now then I ever thought was possible.

I feel your pain, although I don't feel beaten, as when I ordered mine my original goal was to cut down smoking especially at work. I do not get the same satisfaction as of now from vaping and my job has many stressful moments too. It is good to know that I can get some relief by vaping during those times. I have ordered some snus and am going to try that when I go out of town next week. I also ordered a cheap 510 to try and that is a different vape from my kr808. I am also mixing some of my own juices so I can mess around with the nic levels. I will keep on plugging away and while I am doing it I am smoking less, some day I hope to just not want want to smoke kind of like Hoosier. :pervy:

Several of us seniors need to go completely to vaping in our apartments before May 1, when we'll be evicted if we continue to smoke. We're trying hard and enjoying it, but we find ourselves going back for a drag or three during especially stressful times. However, this FSC (Fire Safe Cigarette) paper they're using has been driving us nuts, so we go back to vaping.

Plus we've had to hide the lighters, part of the habit. There's something about the ritual of smoking that's become part of our lives. Guess it's a matter of switching habits.

It took me 6 weeks, and 24 mg liquid to switch over completely. I got a big dizzy buzz from the last combustible cig i smoked (3 months ago) - but i think it was from the carbon monoxide, because it was immediate. I can still get a slight spinning feeling if i get too much nicotine, but never that "i'm losing my balance and am going to fall over" feeling.

The thing that's missing are the hundreds of constituents and added chemicals that are in tobacco but not present in e-liquid. You can replace these to some extent by adding smokeless tobacco (like SNUS) if you still want the added buzz.

I know nothing about snus; i'll check it out. After my next six liquids come in, I'll have 10 flavors total (all ranging from 25-36mg, mostly 26). Thanks for your posts everybody.

Hang in there man. I haven't touched an analog in 25 days. Some times its a little rough and I just vape some stronger stuff and the craving goes bye bye. The whole FSC thing was the last straw and is what brought me to PV's. I just think about the stuff they put in there to extinguish an object that is intentionally made to burn. Scary stuff.

-Cheers and Good Luck.

Hoosier has a great point. I am new (1 week) a pack a day. I vary my nick lvl to try samplers and flavors. I have been smoking 1-4 a day since i started, that's allot less than before! This device helps allot and I'm sure now I will quit in my own time. The less smoke I inhale, the better but every thing happen in time and every one is different. To 5cardstud, if you smoked with the birds, vape outside in the am, same habit, better for you with the vape :) I still go outside for my vape (old habits die hard) sometimes as that's part of the process.
