Just two pics of what I think is the perfect match.

  • Easy to change the wick and coil
  • Easy to build.
  • Holds approximately 2ml juice
  • Cheap to build (if you have a small lathe in your office....)
  • Silica wick, S/S wick, cotton wick - whatever you prefer
  • Real nice and hot TH - I like it this way
  • Strong TH depending on your ohms on the resitor wire
  • It's small
  • Clouds that would make Apple envious....

If anyone is interested I will post a "How to".

:)

Sleek and bullet like, not like the 3/4" knurled tank vivi novas I've seen. Before a nice how to, could we get a nice shot under the hood please? :)
:p Asdaq, in the AM yes, sure! Nothing special or innovative there, just the usual stuff. I do however believe the combination and positioning makes a huge difference....

I've vaped on a lot of mods - this one is by far the best setup. For me.

Just in case you think I have big hands....

The guts
4.jpg

Week old S/Steel coil (about 1mm diameter) and my pinkie finger
3.jpg

Battery connector side with spring on the atty holder shown
6.jpg

Same coil up close (sorry I don't have my decent camera with me today)
8.jpg

New cotton to sit over coil through tube holes
9.jpg

Trimmed cotton in tube over ceramic part - ready to screw into polytube bottom half
Note the silicon o-ring seals on the bottom part and also on the cap a bit later.
The ceramic cup with needles and pins just push over the thinner air tube in the middle. The needles touch the central air tube and the outer tube (the two are insulated from each other) It just clicks in position and conducts current perfectly.
10.jpg

The guts screwed in with the dry cotton wick over coil slightly twisted by the two needles - keeps it firmly inplace.
12.jpg

Nice and wet when filled with juice. Easy to fill too - just unscrew the cap and fill with your bottle into the polytube.
13.jpg

The cap has also has a short sleeve that fits over the larger tube to prevent juice directly to the vapourising chamber.
Initially I was hesitant to carry the assembly upside down for fear of leaking out the air hole in the cap. Interestingly this setup does not leak at all and my shirt pockets have no juice stains in them anymore. I must also add that I made sure all the tubes fit snug into each other. :vapor:

Snug tubes make me smile, LOL. Quite nice for ego batts too, diameter length and overall looks. I'm still unclear on what atty this started out as, what the spring is for and which of these parts am I going to be unable to make. The last part I'm only mildly worried about. ;)

It doesn't in the slightest resemble this well thought out design:

Asdaq, I used many different parts - let me try and remember...

  • Small 510 battery shell for the removal tool.
  • Ego battery shell for the bottom part of the tank - it sits over polytube that had to be lathed in a bit so the OD's match.
  • I used and old cartomizer battery connector for the bottom section because I prefer the tank to screw on the outer thread of the ego battery - for strength.
  • I used the same 510 battery connector (female thread) and soldered that into the cartomizer connector to be able to screw the air tube and coil part to the bottom section.
  • A CE5's connector and air tube is used for the inner part.
  • Any small ceramic cup that fits over the tube will do - as long as it has a small diameter. The CE6 will work fine.
  • I found a small S/S tube about 4mm diameter (parker pen refill) and machined all the parts to fit snug into it where required. (rectractable antennas will also work....)
  • I also used a CE6 cap and machined that down to fit over the central tube.

I think that's the list. Does it make sense?

The spring is to ensure good connection to the battery positive pole - failsafe method. It's obvioulsy connected to the inner air tube for conductance.

So far I'm impressed with the miniature stainless steel mesh coil. It has lasted two weeks now without any drop in performance.

It still seems pretty clean and absorbs the juice well. No dry hit until the juice in the tank is finished. I might actually make another one with one less wrap. This one measures 2.9Ω with 5 turns. Think I will make another one with four turns to reduce to approximately 2.3Ω. Even with the 2.9Ω is performs really nice - for me. Hot and great TH. Maybe it has something to do with the close proximity of the heating coil to the air outlet to your mouth.

And PS - no juice leaks thus far despite my initial fears.... Quite a robust and friendly little bugger this. Have orders for 3 of them from my friends so far. Just gotta get the time to make some more.

One more thing: The stainless mesh - its a tiny and tightly rolled mesh - I'd say 1mm in diameter x 5mm long. Think it was a #330 grid, not so sure anymore - there are so many pieces of mesh in my "vapebox" I cant be sure anymore. I doubt the grid makes a significant difference though...

Here's a picture of the coil in it's current state without any cleaning or dry burning. Did that after the pic... :)

All I will say is that this li'll thingy performs as I want it to.......
